Practice

In a small group, practice logging in to Waterford as the demonstration student you set up.

3. Open the Waterford Student App and show students how to log in by clicking your picture, clicking “Yes, that’s me,” and finally, selecting the course.

4. Invite students to participate in a few activities. Do NOT guide students to correct responses (especially in the Placement assessment)—instead, focus on clicking Repeat (audio), Go On, and Play Again buttons.

5. Point out that the student’s name is in the navigation bar.

Alternate Practice If you have Classroom Advantage, create a Playlist of fun activities students can explore. You can also download and import this pre-designed Playlist from Waterford:

Tips and Tricks • Put a small sticker on the left mouse button so students know where to rest

their finger and where to click.

• For students who struggle with the mouse, put your hand over the student’s hand and slowly guide them on how to point and click.

• Explicitly teach students to lift their mouse and bring it back to a comfortable place when they’ve pushed it into a corner or off of a mouse pad.

• Be sure to explicitly teach routines for using all of your computer equipment, including the mouse, headsets, keyboard, computer monitor, desks and even chairs.

• Keep pencils and paper or dry erase boards near computers for students to practice writing their letters when prompted by Waterford.
