Warm-up activity

To start the lesson, the teacher is going to play a short game with the students called Simon says. Here, students have to act the actions the teacher is saying. E.g. Teacher: Simon says STAND UP After this sentence, students have to stand up until the teacher change the action repeating the same pattern. E.g. Teacher: Simon says This game is going to be really helpful to catch students attention, in this way the can feel more enthusiastic on the lesson.Pre-reading activities The teacher is going to ask some questions about hobbies to activate students prior knowledge. E.g. Do you know what a hobby is? Do you have any hobby?

The teacher is going to talk about different types of hobbies and she is going to show them some pictures to introduce the keywords. The propose of this is to get the students knowledge and to make students repeat each concept

The teacher is going to write the word hobby on the board. Then, she is going to ask for another words that students can associate with the word already mentioned. The teacher is going to show students two pictures related with the text. Then he/she is going to ask the students what they think is the text they are going to read according to the pictures showed.While reading activities

Students are going to receive a worksheet in which they have to read a text about two people describing their hobbies.

The children are going to read the text twice in order to work with the activities of the worksheet in wich they are going to develop different reading strategies to search specific information, having an overview of the text and looking for key words related to the topic

The teacher has to call four students to the front of the classroom and will give each student one picture of different peoples hobbies. Then, the teacher will point to one picture and he/she will ask students questions which will contain the keywords previously presented. Post reading activities Student have to create a list with the most important words in the texts read (keywords) and search in the dictionary if they dont know the meaning of some words.

Students are going to create their own text about their favourite hobbies. For doing that, they have to use the keywords previously searched in the texts.4. Process and product assessment/evaluation

Daniels Hobby

My favourite hobby is reading. I enjoy reading a book when I am free. I started to do it when I was four years old. The first time I did it, I felt interested. So I kept reading. The teachers always taught me to read the difficult words. I was happy when I read a story with a happy ending. I was thrilled when I read a detective story. I enjoy reading because I like to explore the imaginative world of my favourite author, J.K.Rowling who writes Harry Potter . There are a lot of advantages of reading. Reading can make me relaxed and calm. I can also learn new vocabulary items. Then I can further improve my English. Moreover, it can give me an unlimited imagination, so I can write books in the future. I can learn the different cultures and customs of other countries in the world too.

I read at least one hour every day. I read books by myself. I usually read it at home. I wish I could read different kinds of books because it might be very challenging.
