Put a few pictures of flowers on the board and get the kids to colour them in groups.

Stage 2: Children to think about the creator of all flowersAsk children if they could colour flowers if they were all over the classroom. Get them to appreciate that making flowers from paper and colouring them is not an easy thing to do. Then ask them where they see real flowers. They may say in gardens and parks. Ask them who made all the flowers in the world and put colour in them. Ask them who gave colours to the flowers. Show them a real flower large and small. Ask them to name the colours on them.

Tell them that the one who made all the flowers and gave their colours is called Allah. Ask them who do they think made all the other things in the world. Let them name some of the things. If they say Car or House then say: Allah gave us the things to make the car!” Then read the Part 1 of the story on Who Created All Things. WHO GAVE COLOUR TO ALL THINGS

Part 1:

Once a little boy tried to make a flower from paper. It was not easy. He tried so much to make a beautiful flower from paper but he could not do it. You see a flower has got many things which are all difficult to make. The boy kept trying and trying. Then he called his mum who helped him make a flower out of paper. She cut the paper up in beautiful pieces and taught the boy how to stick all of them together. Soon they both made a small flower. But the flower did not look beautiful. There was something missing. The boy thought: “What is missing!” He looked carefully and saw that it did not have any colours. So he got out his crayons and began to colour the flower.

But even after he coloured the flower it did not look like a real flower. He thought hard about what was missing. He realised it could not grow like the real flower. What else do you think was missing? He then thought: “If I am not able to make a small flower out of paper than Allah must be truly amazing to have made all the flowers in the world which have so many beautiful things like colour and smell.” The boy then went out to look at the different types of flowers Allah has made. When he went out he saw many different types of flowers – small, big, yellow, red and many other colours. He said: “Allah is amazing for he made all these!”

Then the boy made a hat out of flowers. His friends came and said: “You are clever that you made the hat!” But the boy said: “I only made the hat from the flowers which Allah had made. We can only make things from what Allah has given to us!” His friends began to think of all the things which are made up of things Allah has made. Can you name some of the things?

Part 2 WHO MADE ALLAH (Optional)

A little boy asked his father: “Who made God?” His father said: “God is not a thing that can be made. If God was made then he cannot be God.” The little boy did not understand. So he asked his teacher: “Who made God?” His teacher said: “If God was made then his maker would be God, and not him.” The little boy did not understand. So he asked his mother: “Who made God?” His mother said: “God is God because he makes everything. But nobody can make him.” The little boy then looked at himself in the mirror. He wondered at how God had made his face. He thought: “I am a thing made by God. But God is not a thing that can be made by anybody. God is truly the ONE like whom there is none!” The boy had finally understood what everybody was saying.

The mother came to the boy and said: “God has a special name because he was not made by anybody. The special name is ALLAH.” The boy learnt that to say that Allah is special we have to say Allah instead of God.

Lesson 2 ALLAH’S CREATIONS AND POWER IS EVERYWHEREThanking Allah

Stage 1: Children to appreciate the blessings of food Allah has given to usShow children pictures of different types of foods from fruits to meat. Ask them what their favourite foods are. Name some tastes like tangy, sweet, hot etc. Ask who gave tastes to the food we eat. Ask them what would happen if Allah had not made food with different tastes. Ask them if they think Allah is good and why. Then ask what should we say to thank Allah for creating all these wonderful foods and colours for us. Teach them to say Alhamdulillah.

Stage 2: Children to learn to say AlhamdulillahChildren to think of different foods they enjoy. They will put their hand up when they think of a food type. Then they will tell the class what food they are thinking about. All the class will say Alhamdulillah. Do this with several children.

Now ask them if they want to learn to say Alhamdulillahay Rabil Aalamin.Let the class repeat saying it. Tell them it is a good way to thank Allah.

Stage 3: Children to learn that the family too is Allah’s blessing on us and to be thankful we need to look after itRead the story on the silly woman who threw away good things with the bad. Once the story is finished ask the following questions:

1. What should we say for the good food given to us? What should we not do?2. What should we say for the good clothes we have? What should we not do?3. What should we say for the clean water we have? What should we not do?4. What should we say for the good things we have? What should we not do?

Page 5: Lesson 1:madressa.weebly.com/uploads/7/9/0/1/790172/p1_term_1__les…  · Web viewThen stop the nasheed in key places and let children guess the next word. Or let children stand

SAYING ALHAMDULILLAH

Once upon a time there lived a silly woman who used to throw away good things with the bad things. So when she had finished eating her food she would throw away her beautiful plate with the rubbish. Even when she opened a bag of sweets she would throw it away after eating it a little. One day she bathed her baby and then by mistake she threw away the baby with the bath water. Then she looked for the baby and remembered what she had done! You see how silly she was by throwing away good things with the bad things.

Then oneday she heard some madressah children saying: “To thank Allah we must learn to say Alhumdulillah.”

So the woman began to say Alhamdillah for the good things she had been given. She looked in her home for the good things and she found a lot of them. What kind of things do you think she found? First she opened the fridge and saw all the tasty foods. She began to say: “I thank Allah for the wonderful tasty foods.” Then she put a lot of food in her plate and said: “Alhamdulillah for the food!” But then she ate a little and threw the rest away with her new plate. You see the silly woman only said Alhamdulillah for the good things but she did not look after the good things she had been given

Then again she heard some madressah children saying: “To thank Allah we must not waste the good things Allah has given to us!” The woman thought hard about this. She began to think about how many things she wasted everyday. She thought of the food she wasted, the clothes she wasted and the colour and paper she wasted.

Then she began to stop throwing away the good things. She stopped throwing away her beautiful plates, her beautiful clothes and shoes. She even stopped throwing away her beautiful baby!

The silly woman was no longer silly because she learnt that to thank Allah we must look after the good thing he had given to us and we must also say Alhamdulillah.

Does love have eyes? Does love have a nose? Where is love? Make them understand that love is not a thing. Ask them if they can see love with their eyes. Tell them that love is not something we can see or touch.

Stage 2: Children to understand that Allah is not a bodyRead the story on looking for Allah. Once you have read the story ask them to complete the following:

1. What did the clouds say?2. What did the water say?3. What did the wind say?

Complete the following:We cannot see Allah but we can see the L….. of Allah. How do you see the love of Allah? (Look at the good things Allah has made)

Stage 3: Children to do the worksheets on the good things Allah has given to us

THE BOY WHO WANTED TO SEE ALLAH

Far far away there was a village with beautiful little houses and beautiful little hills. In the village lived a little boy who always thought about Allah. He thought where could Allah be. He started looking for Allah everywhere. First he went to the little mosque in the village to look for Allah. But in the mosque he only found the people praying. He saw the people in the mosque praying and praying. He thought: “Why do these people pray when they cannot see Allah anywhere in the mosque.” Then he looked up in the sky to look for Allah. But all he saw was little clouds and little birds flying high up. He could not see Allah anywhere. So he went to look for Allah in his little garden. He looked up in the trees but he did not find Allah. He looked in the little flowers but he could not see Allah. The boy kept saying: “Where is Allah? I am looking for him everywhere?”

Then oneday a wise man said to him: “If you want to see Allah then climb the big mountain.” So the boy got ready to climb the highest mountain. He went out of the little village until he got to the highest mountain. When he saw the highest mountain he was happy. You see he wanted to see Allah even if he had to climb the mountain.

So early in the morning he started to climb the mountain But the Sun was very hot. As he climbed the Sun got hotter and hotter. He thought: “Why has Allah made the Sun so hot!” But as he climbed up the hill he saw the clouds gathering. He heard the clouds say: “We are the clouds. We belong to Allah. It is Allah who has sent us to give you shade from the hot sun.” The boy said: “Alhamdulillah,” and kept climbing.

After a long time he got tired and wanted to rest. He found a rock on which to sit. Nearby he saw water coming from the rocks. He thought: “Why has Allah made the water come from under the rocks.” But when he listened carefully he heard the water say: “Allah made the water for you and for all the animals who live here. Allah is good to you by giving you water.”

Finally the boy got to the top of the mountain. But there was nobody there. Then the wind started to blow. The boy could not see the wind and yet he could hear it and feel it. When the boy listened carefully he heard the wind say: “Little child, look down, look down and see the goodness Allah has given to you.” What do you think the boy saw when he looked down the mountain?

The boy saw many wonderful things which were all goodness from Allah. He saw of the clouds that gave him shade, the water that he drank and the wind that blew the leaves. He understood that the more you see the good things Allah has made for you the more you see Allah’s love. Finally the boy said: “ Now I have learnt that if I want to see Allah then I have to see Allah’s Goodness.” The boy was then happy because he had understood that Allah is like love which cannot be seen but the goodness of Allah can be seen everywhere.

Lesson 4: PROPHET MUHAMMAD TELLS US ABOUT ALLAH

Stage 1: Children to get the chance to say whom they think taught us about AllahAsk children if anybody has seen Allah. Lead them to say that Allah cannot be seen with the eyes but we can see the goodness Allah has made. Ask them because nobody has seen Allah then how do we know that there is Allah. Let them give different answers according to their imagination. Ask them things like ‘did anybody see Allah on a mountain,’ ‘did anybody see Allah in a mosque,’ ‘did anybody see Allah in a jungle ….’ Do not give any answers because at this stage the kids need to just explore their own thinking.

Stage 2: Children to know of the wrong ideas about Allah people have hadTell them that some people thought that Allah was in the Sun. (Show the children a picture of the Sun) Were they right? Some thought that Allah was in a river, were they right? Some thought that Allah was in a flower. Were they right? Now tell them that along time ago people used to believe that the King was Allah. They would pray to the king. Was this right? Tell them that the only way we know about Allah is through special people who were sent by Allah to teach us. These people were Prophets. They came to tell us who Allah is.

Now tell them that when the Prophets came the people said: “Allah is in the Sun,” but the Prophets said “NO.” The people said that Allah was in a big house but the Prophets said NO …..” Then the people said: “Where is Allah?” The Prophets said: “You cannot see Allah with your eyes but you can see the goodness of Allah everywhere.” Ask children to repeat it.

Stage 3: Children to know that Prophets were sent by Allah as teachers Read out the story about Rasool Muhammad and then ask the following questions:

1. What does a Rasool bring from Allah?2. Who was the last Rasool?3. Why did the people first not listen to the Rasool Muhammad?4. Whom did the people pray to first?5. Whom should we pray to only?

Stage 4: Children to do the worksheet on Prophet Muhammad

Stage 5: Children to practice saying Laillah Illah, Muhammadur Rasool Ullah.Play a nasheed or a rhyme that can help children to remember the words of Kalima. Do the whole kalmia including Aliun waliullah

Stage 6: Children to know what they have to do for homework

Do you know who told us about ALLAH?

Page 9: Lesson 1:madressa.weebly.com/uploads/7/9/0/1/790172/p1_term_1__les…  · Web viewThen stop the nasheed in key places and let children guess the next word. Or let children stand

Many special people came to us to teach us about Allah. These special people were called SPECIAL TEACHERS They were called RASOOL. They were all GOOD. They were the best teachers because they came for us from Allah.

The name of Last Rasool is MUHAMMAD. He was the last teacher Allah sent to us. But when he came the people did not listen to him. They said: “We see you are good but we do not want to listen to you because you stop us from doing bad things.”

The Prophet Muhammad said: “You will not be happy if you do bad things. So listen to what I have to teach your creator.” But the people did not listen.

Then one day all the water in the wells and the rivers dried up. The people could not wash themselves. They were also very thirsty. Their children were crying for water and their animals were dying. So they began to wish and wish for rain. But nothing happened. Then they thought of an idea. Their idea was to pray to the clouds. So whenever they saw a small cloud in the sky they began to pray to it. They said: “O cloud, give you rain, we pray to you because you are our the rain giver.” But nothing happened. Then they thought of another idea. Their idea was to pray to the wind that blows the clouds. So whenever they felt wind blowing they began to pray to it. They said: “We pray to the wind to blow the blows so that we can get rain.” But nothing happened.

Some of them then began to pray to the mountain to get water. Other prayed to their gold and their money. Others prayed to pictures and to animals. Other also prayed to the trees to get rain. But nothing happened. Then finally they came to the Last Rasool, Muhammad. They said: “You say you are from the Creator. So pray to the creator to give us rain. If it does not rain then we will all die.”

The Rasool was kind to them. So he prayed to the creator for rain. Soon the wind started to blow and the clouds began to gather. And then it began to rain. It rained so much that the wells and river were full of water. The people jumped with joy. Since then they began to listen to what the Rasool had to teach about creator. This is what he taught them:

1. Never pray to anything but to the creatorTo pray to only the creator and to follow the Rasool we say LA ILLAHA ILLALLAH. MUHAMMADUR RASOOL ULLAH2. All the good things we have come from the creator 3. To say thank you to the creator we must not waste the good things created for us and we must say Alhamdulillah.

Lesson 5: Allah is Amazing

Stage 1: To help children recall the main points they have learnt.Have a cardboard cut out of the human body including head, abdomen, and limbs. Ask children where each one will go as you stick them on the board. Then ask them who created all the things in the human body. (Allah). Ask them whether what Allah created is good or bad. Ask them what must we say to thank Allah for the good things he had given to us (Alhamdulillah). Ask them who taught us all these things.

Ask them if these are all wonderful things which we must look after. Also ask them who made these things for us. Then ask them to look at their own hands and legs. Ask them what the limbs are for. (walking, running, lifting things etc). Let them talk about the many uses of the arms and what they can do like lift things, fold themselves to protect etc. Then ask what the teeth are for and where their food goes after they have eaten it. Ask them to point to their stomachs. Ask them if these are all good things given to us by Allah. Ask children to name some other good things in our bodies which Allah has made – skin, hair, toilet parts and also nails.

Stage 6; Children to do homework

Page 11: Lesson 1:madressa.weebly.com/uploads/7/9/0/1/790172/p1_term_1__les…  · Web viewThen stop the nasheed in key places and let children guess the next word. Or let children stand

THE HUMAN BODY

Diid you now what when Allah made a man and a woman then all the creation came to look. When the saw a man and a woman they were all amazed. They saw that the man and woman could talk, walk, think and even wash. They were not like other creations. Allah had given them the power to make houses and big building, They could make clothes and books. They could make so many things. So all the creation saw this and said: A man and woman are amazing.

But the man and woman said: “It is our maker who is amazing. It is Allah who is Amazing for making so many amazing things.”

So have you looked in the mirror to see how many wonderful and amazing things Allah has given to you? Think of your eyes. What do the eyes do? They can see things. But the eyes also cry when we are sad. And when we get tired our eye close and we fall asleep. Allah has made the eyes do all these things.

Let us look carefully at each others eyes. What do you see. Do you see the white bit and the dark bit. Each bit is important and special. To protect the eye Allah has given us eye lashes and eye brows. The eye lashes and the eye brows stop insects and dirt from getting in to the eye. Is that not a very clever way to protect the eyes?

When you look at the good things Allah has made then we feel like saying Allah is Wonderful. What else do we feel like saying?

Allah is goodAllah is AmazingAllah is great

To say all these things we say ALLAHU AKBAR.

Now look at the nose. What does a nose do? It can smell things. It also takes air inside the body. What about our ears. What else is there in our faces – mouth, head, cheeks and chin. What is inside the mouth?

Do you think all these things are wonderful? What do we say when we feel like saying that Allah is Wonderful ?

Now think about your hands, your legs, your body, your muscles and your brain. All these are wonderful things that Allah has given to you.

Did you know that when the Prophet Muhammad came he saw that the people did not look after their body. Their teeth fell off, they did not clean themselves and they did not sleep early. Then the Prophet Muhammad taught them that to respect Allah the people have to respect Allah’s wonderful creation. The Prophet Muhammad taught the people to look after their wonderful bodies. He said: “Allah has made all of you in a beautiful way. To thank Allah you have to look after yourselves and each other.”

Lesson 6: The Amazing Baby

Stage 1: Children to think about the development of the baby in the womb and relate it to Allah’s Amazing creationTell children whether they knew that when mummy and daddy love each other very much then they can get a gift from Allah. Ask them if they know what this gift is. Lead them to the gift is a baby. Tell them that the Prophet Muhammad taught us that the baby is a gift we must look after. Ask them if it gives us happiness to look after a baby.

Stage 2: Children to learn about the development of the babyAsk children what they think the baby looks like when it is in it’s mother. They will say it is very small. Show them a small picture of a foetus. Show them pictures of a foetus developing. Ask them what they see happening in each picture eg you can see the hands, the legs, the eyes etc. Ask them for how long does the baby grow in side the mother. Then finally show them pictures of some babies. Tell them that Allah makes a baby a boy or a girl. Tell them that both are made by Allah as a gift for the parents and we must love all the babies.

Ask them if Allah makes the baby inside a mother in a clever way? Ask them if it is good that Allah gives daddy and mummy a gift?Ask them if it is good that some babies are boys and some are girls?

Stage 3: Children to learn about how quickly a baby learns.Read the story of a baby growing. Then ask the following questions:

1. What is the gift given to mummy and daddy when they love each other?2. How long does a baby grow inside the mother?3. What is the best thing we can give to a baby?4. How should we thank our mothers for carrying us inside them and then feeding us?5. What should we think about Allah when we think about how a baby grow inside the mother

Stage 4: Children to do the worksheet on the perfect development of the baby

Stage 5: Children to learn about how to love a babyTalk to children about how they can love a baby by playing with it but to be careful when carrying it. Ask them what they can teach the baby and how they too will come mummies and daddies when they grow up.

Stage 6: Children to do homework

Page 13: Lesson 1:madressa.weebly.com/uploads/7/9/0/1/790172/p1_term_1__les…  · Web viewThen stop the nasheed in key places and let children guess the next word. Or let children stand

BIRTH OF A BABY

Did you know that all things like people, animals, birds and fish get babies. Some of them get babies from eggs. Do you know who gets babies from eggs? …. Yes it is birds and fish. But where do people get babies from? ….

To have a baby the first thing mummy and daddy have to do is love each other. Only mummy and daddy can have babies when they love each other and feel close to each other. Allah then gives them a special gift. What is the gift? Yes it is a baby. Some times a baby is a boy and sometimes a girl. Both boy babies and girl babies are gift from Allah. Both boy and girl babies are very special because both are made by Allah for us.

Allah made every baby to grow inside the mother. The mother’s body protects it and makes it grow. The baby grows a little every day until it is ready to come out and be born. The day it is born is the birthday of the baby. Everybody in the family gets very happy when a baby is born. Everybody loves the baby and wants to hold it and kiss it. The Prophet Muhammad told us that Allah is pleased with those who love their babies. So when a baby is born in our family we should love it and look after it. We should buy it presents and we must thank Allah by saying Al Hamdulillah.

Just before a baby is to be born the mother goes to hospital. There the nurses help her to have the baby. But there was one baby who was born in a very special place. Do you know who this baby was? The baby was called Ali and he was born in the mosque of the Kaaba. Have you every seen the picture of the Kaaba? Allah chose Ali to be born in this special place because his mother’s wish was that her baby should become the helper of Prophet Muhammad. When the Prophet Muhammad saw the baby his face smiled and he said: “My helper has come and he will grow up in my arms.” It is amazing how a baby grows up. First it is so small but everyday it begins to grow a little. Soon it begins to smile and say sweet things. What else does a baby learn to do? …. Yes it learns to crawl, to speak and to write. Soon it begins to run and play. It is much fun to play with a baby but we have to be careful not to hurt the baby.

A baby has an amazing brain. Allah made the brain of a baby to be the most powerful brain in the world. A baby’s brain learns very quickly by copying others. So if you always shout near a baby then the baby too learns to shout. If you become silly near a baby then the baby too becomes silly. But if you are good near a baby then the baby also learns to be good. It learns to talk by listening to you and it learns to play by watching you. So to be good to the baby you must not only love it but you must also be good near it.

Remember that the Prophet Muhammad has taught us that babies are Allah’s gift. We must look after the baby by doing good things which the baby can copy. We must love the baby and look after it. We must smile a lot near a baby and we must be happy near a baby so that the baby can copy being happy. We must hold it’s hands and make sure the baby does not get hurt. If we do this then Allah will be happy with us.

Do you know that one day even you were a baby. Then slowly you began to grow up. Today you do not wear nappies and you do not cry for things like toys. You are growing up and one day when you too have grown up then you too can have a baby so that you can also become a mummy or a daddy.

Lesson 7: WHO OWNS THE UNIVERSE

Stage 1: To get children to imagine the vastness of the universe and recap that prayer is only to AllahAsk children of what they see when they look up in the sky. Who made it all? Now think of all the animals in the jungle. Name some of them. Who made them? Ask them why they think we must only pray to Allah. Ask them who taught us about Allah.
