The Problem – Are you throwing money away paying too much VAT and Climate Change Levy for your electricity?

As a specialist in Leisure Park Energy Management for many years I’ve come across many Leisure Park Owners and Finance Managers who had no idea how much free money they were literally throwing away – over half a penny on every single unit of electricity used and rapidly rising especially in 2019 and beyond.

This is why I decided to offer completely free advice on how to reclaim an average of £8,501 in CCL and VAT (and how this figure will rise in future).

With rises in VAT and fixed energy costs impacting your bottom line, now is the time to invest a few minutes to make your claim as soon as possible. It is free and simple to do on a DIY basis. You can reclaim up to four years VAT refunds and eradicate Climate Change Levy (CCL) and high VAT rates on your energy bills right away.

It’s not your fault if no one from the energy companies told you that you could reclaim VAT and CCL overpayment on your electricity bills for up to four years, then pay only 5% VAT and no CCL in future – how’s that for (lack of) service?

The whole application process should take under 30 minutes, including reading this report, so why not get started right away?

What is Climate change Levy and how does it impact your profits?

The Climate Change Levy (CCL) is a tax on energy delivered to businesses in the UK. It aims to encourage increased energy efficiency to reduce carbon emissions.

Introduced on April 1st 2001 as part of the Finance Act in 2000, it was forecast to cut annual emissions by 2.5 million tonnes by 2010.

At the time of writing CCL is charged to you at @0.6 pence per KWH for electricity - jumping in 2019 to @0.9 pence. A large percentage of energy cost you could do without paying.

It never ceases to amaze me that park owners are missing out on their VAT and CCL reclaims for their business energy, which could reach back for up to four years. Moving forwards they would pay no CCL whatsoever!

One of my clients received a cheque after around ten weeks for £16,638 which comprised VAT overpayment and a CCL refund. Judging by the Government figures below the potential benefit is certainly rising.

As a Leisure Park, how do you qualify? ... read on...

Here’s the key; most Holiday Parks are classed as “Mixed Use” businesses for VAT purposes.

• Business site must be over 60% “domestic” (holiday Caravans, shower blocks and laundries for use of customers qualify as “domestic” components for VAT purposes). This means that 100% of supply now qualifies for low rate 5% VAT - since the site is charged at lower VAT rate it is now 100% Climate Change Levy exempt.

• This refund can be backdated for up to four years

• So long as you submit the VAT Declaration Form to every future electricity supplier, you will continue to pay NO CHARGE for CCL and only pay VAT at the lower rate of 5%.

Does Your Business Qualify for reduced VAT/no CCL?I cannot make false promises and you will have to speak to me and be the judge of your own eligibility, but here are a few qualifying components:

Holiday Parks; static caravans, shower blocks and laundry for use of customers.

Residential Parks; automatically qualify as residential.

Touring Parks; I do have touring park clients that have claimed CCL exemption at their discretion and have not experienced any objections from the energy companies, however the official guidelines are a little vague in my opinion.

> But is it worth my time sending a VAT Declaration off?

As a business owner myself, I appreciate time is money – but the positive feedback has been unanimous.

What to do now

Do it yourself claim

Before start, I can advise on how likely you are to be successful with your claim depending on several key factors. I can then supply the relevant claim forms which are straight forward for you to fill in and return to whichever energy supply companies you’ve been with for the last four years – get in touch whether you are my customer or not. All part of the service.

Too busy to claim?

Leisure Park Energy has extensive experience dealing with suppliers to secure retrospective refunds for holiday park on a no win no fee basis. We are aware that many park owners are being wrongly advised by various 'experts' and being charged high consultancy fees for CCL claims and have lost count of the times park owners and Finance Directors have thanked us for finally giving them the accurate information they have spent months finding.

We can deal with suppliers for a fixed fee and as an added bonus we will keep you informed by a private email newsletter on any changes and opportunities that arise in future.

More good news

The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed on the table of CCL rates mention is made of natural gas and bulk LPG. These can also be treated as exempt from climate change levy using the similar VAT declaration forms.

Since the rates of CCL for gas and LPG are rising in 2019 by around 30% from the 2016 rate there is all the more reason to reclaim and stay exempt at all times in future.

There are a few more finer points to be aware of which is why I encourage you to get in touch to discuss in detail
