Thoughts from the DirectorFatherhood Matters!

Studies show anywhere from 75-90% of women vulnerable to abortion choose to carry their babies to term after seeing their children on an ultrasound screen. Without a doubt, ultrasound is a game-changer. But here’s another little-known fact. Of women who did choose to end their pregnancies, more than 80% tell surveys they would have likely chosen life if the father of the child was engaged and supportive of the pregnancy. Which is exactly why we have initiatives specifically focused on reaching dads, many of whom have never known a father figure in their lives. We believe when we meet his needs, address his fears, we see more lives saved and solid families formed.

We say thank you then, not only for supporting moms, but for supporting the dads who come in our door. Your investment in this work not only saves lives, it is turning around a culture where dads are often overlooked or dismissed altogether. In the world’s view the father’s voice has been erased as insignificant to the pregnancy even in the role of leadership within the family. God created fathers on purpose for a purpose. We pray that fathers will rise up and lead with wisdom and love and that the significance of their role within the family will be restored in our world!

Tia Finds HopeThank you for helping Tia and so many others parent their precious children with your gifts to Legacy Pregnancy Center.Tia came to Legacy Pregnancy Center as a single mother of three to find out more information about

abortion procedures. She had recently had a positive pregnancy test and was feeling overwhelmed about the prospect of having another child. Being new to the area, Tia was living with her parents at the time. The father of the baby lived in another state and she was not sure about a future

with him. She already had an abortion appointment scheduled for the following week

Tia was tearful and it was evident at her first appointment that although she had questions about abortion, she had mixed feelings and beliefs about this. She was informed early in the appointment that Legacy Pregnancy Center does not perform or refer for abortions. Tia met with staff who listened to her story and presented to her the 3 legal options that she had available to her - abortion, adoption, and parenting baby. She was given the opportunity to learn more about the specific abortion procedures that might be offered to her at her abortion

appointment as well as a list of questions to ask the staff there. Tia expressed that she had never really considered the option of adopting her baby out before, but that after this appointment it seemed like a real possibility. The nurse also offered Tia free lab-grade Pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing, which she was happy to take advantage of.

Tia’s pregnancy test came back positive. Although Tia was a bit early in her pregnancy for an ultrasound, she was offered one anyway due to her upcoming abortion appointment. Tia was excited about the prospect of seeing her baby. Although Tia had been tearful and obviously distraught throughout most of her appointment, her face lit up upon seeing her baby’s heartbeat on the screen. Suddenly she was smiling. Tina had indicated that she had belief in God and accepted prayer before the end of her appointment.

Staff followed up with Tia the following week and Tia informed them that she had not made it to her abortion appointment! She also said that she had spoken with the father of the baby, who indicated that he would like to support her in whatever she decides. Staff encouraged her to take advantage of the Earn While You Learn (EWYL) classes so that she could earn new or lightly used baby items while also learning important parenting skills. She was given information about other resources in the community to help her with the specific challenges that she faced. Although Tia continued to face challenges, she did so with a new hope of knowing that she was not alone.

Welcome to the Legacy TeamKristen Hein –Center Coordinator!

“Joining Legacy is a big change for me, but a change about which I am thrilled! I have run a busy dental office for over nine years with my

husband, Matt, in Buffalo. Leaving the

dental practice has been a difficult decision but the possibilities and new environment that comes with joining Legacy are so exciting to me. Matt and I have been married for 15 years and we have three daughters, Addison, Abrie, and Emberlee. We both were born and raised in Newcastle, Wyoming and we moved to Buffalo in 2010 and have been blessed by the landscape, our friends, our church family, and the community as a whole. We love it here and can’t imagine being anywhere else at this stage in our lives.”

Welcome, Amanda Deur—Program Coordinator / PRN Nurse“A Wyoming native, I grew up in Buffalo and earned an associates’ degrees in humanities and in nursing from Sheridan College. I left Wyoming for a short time to earn a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho and then a master’s degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary. I love being back home in Sheridan, close to the mountains and my family. I have experience working as a nurse in a NICU and in a Women’s Health clinic, as well as working as a community mental health counselor in Cody, WY. People have always asked me if I had any plans to combine my nursing education with my counseling background, and I am so excited to now have that chance here at Legacy!”

Needed: Baby Bottle Change Coordinator (Volunteer)

Are you a bank employee? Legacy is looking for a volunteer “Change Coordinator” for our annual Baby Bottle fundraiser, who can pick up change once a week during February--April to exchange for deposit. This volunteer needs to be a bank employee and have the permission of her/his bank to process the change in this manner. This reduces the amount of time staff spend waiting in line for change to be processed and allows bank employees to process the change during slow times at their bank.

We are grateful to Kristen Jennings for her volunteer support over the years as the Baby Bottle Change Coordinator!

The baby bottle change is being counted and we will share the total collective amount raised through our Sheridan and Johnson county participating churches in early June. If you still need to drop off your bottle you can drop it off at Legacy during our business hours. We believe our goal of $20,000 not only has been met but exceeded and appreciate all of your support!

Donating with matching fundsDid you know?

Your employer may match all or some of your charitable contributions! Check with your company’s HR department to inquire and for details regarding amounts, etc. Some programs cut a check if an employee volunteers a certain amount of hours. EMIT Technologies allows employees to nominate organizations for its community reinvestment program.

Here are some local employers with a matching gift program. If you know of more, please contact us!

Legacy’s EndowmentMaking a lasting gift has never been easier! Legacy partnered with Frontier Asset Management for our Endowment Fund because of the ability to provide an opportunity for people to leave larger gifts to Legacy, yet invest the funds in a manner that aligns with our values:

“Through our Christian Worldview strategies at Frontier, we provide the opportunity for biblically responsible investing which empowers the Christian to support companies that seek to uphold Biblical values and to avoid companies that don’t. We scrutinize each fund to determine their involvement in abortion, pornography, anti-family entertainment, non-biblical lifestyle, tobacco, gambling, and alcohol. This financial product allows us to invest in companies that uphold the views and values of our Christian clients.”

Donating to Legacy’s Endowment

Sponsor A Day Calendar

We are grateful for your investment in the lives of young women, men, and unborn children. The Sponsor a Day program is helping us build a foundational income for the ministry of Legacy. How does it work? It costs about $600 a day to run Legacy, so a partner that donates $50 a month ($600 year) is sponsoring one day of operations at the Center. A partner that donates $25 a month ($300 year) sponsors a half day of operations. Partners who donate $25 or more a month, get to have a date of their choosing dedicated to their family. Thank you for your generous support of this ministry!
