I would like to say thank you to our entire school community for your amazing efforts over the last two months.

To our students and families, thank you for being so resilient and willing to engage in learning from home. Thank you for your ongoing support, patience and commitment to learning.

To all our LPS Staff thank you for your extraordinary efforts during these challenging times. Words cannot describe how greatly appreciated you are! I thank you for your perseverance, patience, kindness, courage and commitment.

Your dedication to our students and our school has been especially evident in these times. I know it’s been quite the adjustment, and that we can only do so much, but I have been so proud of the way we came together as a team over the last 10 weeks, collaborating and supporting each other to provide the best opportunities for our students.

Leeton Public School is certainly an incredible place to work and learn and we have certainly all demonstrated that at Leeton PS we are responsible, respectful and most importantly resilient learners! I can’t wait to have everyone back next week!

With school recommencing today our most important focus will be to get our students settled back into school, re-acquainted with their friends, peers and teachers and to re-establish a love of learning – in all areas of the curriculum.

We know there could be some challenges, we know there will be some exciting times and most importantly we know that all stakeholders (students, parents and staff) will work together as we always have to ensure we get the best possible educational outcomes for our students.

This communication contains a range of information that hopefully answers many of your questions in relation to the recommencement of full time schooling. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

GUIDELINES:

All schools are returning to full on-campus learning from Monday 25 May. All school activities and operations will be in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and NSW Health guidelines as applicable.

School students do not need to follow strict adult physical distancing guidelines, but should follow good hygiene practices like:

* regularly washing hands

* avoiding sharing drinks or food

* coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be discarded immediately

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:

All students should be at school unless:

* they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition

* they are currently unwell – please contact the school if you are unsure.

SCHOOL RESOURCES:

Children are requested to bring along all school resources that are required for learning. This means:

* BYOD K-6 – All students should bring their own device to school if they have completed the necessary permission slips. This should happen every day.

* We ask you to organise an individual pencil case for your child with required supplies such as lead pencils, coloured pencils, scissors and glue where possible. We still have supplies at school for students unable to bring their own.

SCHOOL UNIFORM:

Children are encouraged to wear full school uniform when they return to school on Monday, with Sports Uniform reserved for Wednesday (K-2) and Fridays (3-6) - unless otherwise advised.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:

Teachers will continue to follow the same school curriculum with the exception of some activities that can’t go ahead for now.

* Use the school library – borrowing will not recommence at Leeton PS until at least June 1. We will communicate more about this next week.

* Engage in non-contact sporting activities – the Sports Shed will be open for the borrowing of equipment for non-contact sports from Monday.

What students can’t do:

* School assemblies (unless for critical information)

* School incursions and excursions including camps

* Inter-school activities (debating, inter-school sport)

* In-school activities requiring parent or other volunteers

* Use hydrotherapy pools

* Drink from a water bubbler – bring a water bottle instead

SCHOOL GROUNDS:

There should be no visitors to school sites unless they are essential.

PICK UP AND DROP OFF:

Our drop off times remain the same. We encourage anyone picking up a child from school to collect them between 3.10pm and 3.25pm at the two usual collections points.
