Otolaryngology learning objectives The student should be able to: Take a clinical history from a patient with symptoms related to the ear, nose, throat and neck. Carry out a competent clinical examination of the ear, nose, throat and neck. Clinically assess hearing using whispered voice test. Clinically assess the dizzy patient. The student should understand: The pathology and clinical presentation of common conditions affecting the ear, nose and throat. Which symptoms and signs signify potentially serious disease. The aetiology, presentation and management of malignant disease in the head and neck. The student should understand the investigation and management of patients with: Hoarseness Dysphagia Neck lump Sore throat Epistaxis Nasal obstruction, particularly unilateral Rhinitis Hearing loss Otorrhoea Vertigo Facial palsy
