Notes on Generic Structure of Narrative TextOrientation: it means to introduce the participants or the characters of the story with the time and place set. Orientation actually exists in every text type though it has different term. In this story, the first paragraph is clearly seen to introduce the participants of the Cinderella Story. They were Cinderella her self as the main character of the story, her step mother which treated Cinderella badly, and her steps sister which supported her mother to make Cinderella was treated very badly. Cinderella was introduced as a hero in this story. She struggled against the bad treatment from her step mother and sisters.

Page 3: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

Complication: it is such the crisis of the story. If there is not the crisis, the story is not a narrative text. In a long story, the complication appears in several situations. It means that some time there is more then one complication. In this Cinderella story, we can see clearly that there are Major Complication and Minor

Page 4: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

Complication. The second paragraph is the major complication of this Cinderella story. Cinderella got bad treatment from her stepmother. It is the bad crisis which drives into several minor complications which Cinderella has to overcome.

Page 5: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

Resolution: it is the final series of the events which happen in the story. The resolution can be good or bad. The point is that it has been accomplished by the characters. Like complication, there are Major Resolution and Minor Resolution. In the last paragraph, it is said that finally Cinderella lived happily. It is the happy resolution of the bad treatment.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Page 10: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

But one day, she was

rather enraged,

because the mirror said

that Snow White was

more beautiful.

Who is the fairest

queen ?

Once upon a time there was a beautiful castle,

a fairy tale castle, where a terrible, but pretty

queen lived.

She had a

magic mirror

and she always

asked the same

question:

Snow White

Page 11: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

So, she sent

for a

huntsman

and she told

him to take

Snow White

into the

forest, kill

her and bring

her heart.

No, I can’t do that.

Obey me, or

I kill you !

Yes, your

Majesty.

At your

service,

Majesty.

Go and Kill Snow White.

Page 12: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

I am not afraid of the

forest, because you are

here.

The huntsman had a terrible task,

but he didn’t want to kill the lovely

princess.

However, at the same time he was

afraid of the wicked queen. He

didn’t know what to do.

Then, the poor man

decided to let Snow

White run away and kill a

deer to take a heart to

the Queen.

And Snow White kept on walking

and enjoying the day in the forest,

watching the birds and the other

animals.

Run, Snow White, your

stepmother wants to kill you.

Page 13: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

The next morning, when she

woke up, she met some

animals watching her,

astonished. She explained who

she was and they decided to

help her.

I ‘ m so

tired...

Snow White was so afraid that she ran for a long, long

time; then she was exhausted and she fell asleep.

They took her to a nice

place where she saw a

small, charming house …

Page 14: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

They had no idea that a

princess was waiting for

them at home, so they sang

happily, on their way.

... she entered and the

kitchen was such a terrible

mess. Everything was dirty

and she began to clean, to

wash, to dust and sweep.

Inside the house, the

furniture was very, very small

and she thought that it was a

children’s house.

But it wasn’t; the house

belonged to seven dwarves;

they were miners and at that

time they were coming back

home.

What a mess !!

I must clean this.

Hi! -Ho! Hi! -Ho! It’s home from work we go ! Hi! -Ho! Hi!

Page 15: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

Someone

cleaned

the house...

... and

dusted

and swept

the floor.I don’t

like this!

I am so sorry.

When they arrived everything

was clean and shiny. They

understood that there was

someone else in the house.

They were very afraid, but

they decided to go upstairs to

find out who was there.

And they discovered Snow

White sleeping. She told them

that her stepmother, the queen,

wanted to kill her. They were all

very sorry, except for Grumpy, a

very, very sad dwarf.

Page 16: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

She must go, now.

I don’t want

her here.

And probably he was right, because not

very far, in the castle the wicked queen

drank a magic potion and turned into a

very old poor lady.

So, you are a Princess ...

Page 17: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

With the magic potion the pretty queen

became an ugly old woman, or better, a

real witch.

Meanwhile all the dwarves learned to love

Snow White and they, all together, had some

beautiful days, with a lot of fun.

Page 18: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

But that was not enough to

the bad queen.

The queen made an evil spell

with a nice apple .

Then, she went to the

dwarves’ house and offered it

to Snow White.

What a delicious and

beautiful apple ....

A little of

poison...

Page 19: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

When the dwarves arrived home they found Snow White

on the floor and they thought she was dead. They

decided to make a crystal coffin to put her, so that they

could go on watching the princess.

And so they did; they put the coffin in the

forest .

Snow White ate the apple and she

immediately fainted.

Page 20: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

Some months later the prince rode past the

dwarves’ house and he saw the coffin; he

opened...

... it and kissed Snow White. She woke up at

once. It was a miracle. The kiss of true love

broke the spell. Snow White said goodbye to

her friends and...

Page 21: LEARNING MATERIALS NARRATIVE AND REPORT TEXT

...she rode away with her prince.

And they lived happily ever

after.

The end

Chinese culture played a truly significant role in the development of visual art in Indonesia; although, not as strong as the Hindu, Buddhist or Moslem influences. Many Chinese culture forms of artistic expressions were adapted and assimilated into indigenous forms. The Chinese influence was restricted to an adapted form. The architectural elements in some temples, for example, reveal Chinese influence. It is identical to the original models found in mainland China. In Gianyar Bali, strong links between the Chinese and local people are evidenced by the Chinese-style roofing on the palace that was rebuilt at the end of the last century. In Cirebon, Chinese designs were copied by local ceramics and paintings. Chine influence also occurs in textile, furniture and household objects.
