What is Moodle and how do I access it (1 of 1)

Moodle is the Salford Royal Learning Website where you can access learning resources, book on courses, find useful information and interact with other staff. The website will work on smartphones, computers and tablets and is accessible from any device connected to the internet. To access Moodle Simply head to: www.salfordlearning.nhs.uk

How to sign up to Moodle (1 of 2)

If it’s your first time visiting the site – click “Sign Up Here”

The Sign up Groups page will appear

You will then be asked to complete the registration form. Please complete the form accurately especially when inputting your national insurance number and email address and a password of your choice. The email address you register can be changed at any time as explained later on in this section.

Once submitted you will be returned to the sign in page

You can now login to the site by inputting your email address and the password you have registered.

The course page will then load.

Once you have logged in, use the menu’s along the top to find the course you’re looking for. “SRFT Induction” is the online induction for new starters “Core Skills & Mandatory Training” stores courses required for compliance, where as “Personal Professional Development” are option courses that maybe of interest. Other options have been setup for specific staff groups such a “Medical Students” and “PG Trainee Doctors”.

The first time you access a course you will be asked to enrol

Our e-learning courses are usually broken down into a learning resource and a skills check. If you have existing knowledge of the subject you may go straight to the skills check. Providing you pass the skills check you will achieve compliance with this subject. Most skills checks allow unlimited attempts

The learning resource will usually open in a new window. Once you have used the learning resource simply close that window to return and complete the skills check

Launch the skills check by clicking the link. Passing the will make you compliant in the subject. Skills checks can vary in length depending on the subject. Some may only be one question long and act as a declaration of compliance

Click to Attempt skills check. Note that if you have attempted the quiz previously your past results will be shown on this screen and the button will say ‘Re-attempt Quiz’

Click on your choice of answer. Some multiple choice questions may have more than one answer. You will need to scroll down the page to see all the questions.

Once you have selected your answers – click the submit button

If you are happy with your answers – click here

If you want to review your answers click here

You will then get one final confirmation – click submit to proceed if you are happy with your answers

This screen will show you if you have answered each question.

The feedback page will let you know if you have passed the quiz, show you your answers and any feedback or advice to consider

Once you have reviewed the quiz click “finish review”, you will find this option at the top and the bottom of the page.

You will then come back to the start of the quiz – if you need to try the quiz again you can click “re-attempt quiz”

Go to the course you wish to book a place on

Click on the face to face course link

Choose a date from the list and click “Sign Up”. If the course is at full capacity you won’t be able to book on that date

Check the details of the course

Confirm booking by clicking sign up

Your booking will show here, along with the option to cancel. You must cancel a booking if you wish to book another date.

Course spaces are limited, if you are unable to attend please return to this page to cancel your place so someone else can attend – wasted places cost the trust money!

When cancelling your attendance you must provide a reason why. This helps us with future planning of events.

When booking or cancelling courses you will receive a confirmation email to the address you setup for Moodle. Please see the section “Updating Your Moodle Details” if you need to change your email address.

If you have forgotten your login details click the “Forgotten your username and password”

Type in the email address you have registed for E-learning/Moodle and click “Send a New Password”

You will receive a temporary password via email to your registered email account. Once you have read the instructions click on the link at the bottom of the email

Input your email address and the temporary password that was included in the email

Choose the change my password option

Input your chosen password and click “update password” You will be advised the password has been changed and provided a link to the login page.

If you wish to update your moodle details click the “Forgotten your username and password” button

Input your email address or your National Insurance number along with your password

Updating your Moodle profile (1 of 3)

Choose the relevant option you wish to update.

If you registered a personal email address when you signed up to Moodle you can change it to your SRFT account if you wish.

When you have logged into moodle your front page will look like this. On the left hand side under administration choose My Profile settings and then Edit Profile

On the edit screen you can add a profile picture or list your interests

The interests you record will show in the Tags section. If you click on words in the tag section it shows you who is also interested in these topics

Under my profile you also have the options such as looking at forums you are part of, personal blogs you have written and also message colleagues in Moodle

In 2016 we will be looking to introduce open badges to courses within Moodle. Open badges is a way of collecting badges for the courses you complete and storing them in an online backpack
