MARCH 2015 24 March 2015 Workshop: Developing Contracts for Health PEI Presenter: Denise Doiron, Solicitor, Health PEI Dates: March 24, 2015, 8:30 am – 12 noon - CANCELED - New Date TBD

St. Lawrence Room, PCH, Summerside, PE

NOTE: This workshop is also offered on the following date:

March 27, 2015, 8:30 am – 12 noon - CANCELED - New Date TBD M2/M3 – 16 Garfield St, Charlottetown, PE

Description: The purpose of this course would be to introduce managers to the topic of contracts in

general, the different kinds, when they are required, who drafts them (Health PEI or the other party), and the drafting of professional services agreements.

Objectives: • Recognize that there are different kinds of contracts for different circumstances

• When is a contract required and what kind • When is a Professional Services Agreement required and who should be drafting it • What should/should not go into a Professional Services Agreement • How to use the Professional Services Agreement template appropriately • Legal Requirements (eg. insurance, payment options, who can sign, etc.) • When does an Agreement have to go to Legal for review/revision (whether you drafted it

or not) • How to draft an appropriate and effective “Statement of Work” • When is a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement required instead of or in

addition to a Professional Services Agreement or other agreement How can the learning be applied in the workplace:

Health PEI has a wide variety of relationships with individuals and organizations that are outside Health PEI, and the majority of those relationships are contractual in nature to one degree or another. Contracts are an increasingly required element of work in Health PEI and yet very few people truly understand what they are about or why they are required. Most, if not all, areas of Health PEI and Health PEI services require contracts, some more than others. Contracts are commonly needed/ utilized, but the process is not very well understood. This course should help provide a good overview of the issue.

Target Participants: Leadership, Managers and Program Leads who may be required to draft Professional

Services Agreements for a wide variety of services across all areas of Health PEI services. How to Register: Registration Form: www.gov.pe.ca/photos/original/mrc_ldws_regist.pdf

MARCH 2015 27 March 2015 Workshop: Developing Contracts for Health PEI Presenter: Denise Doiron, Solicitor, Health PEI Dates: March 27, 2015, 8:30 am – 12 noon - CANCELED - New Date TBD

M2/M3 – 16 Garfield St, Charlottetown, PE

NOTE: This workshop is also offered on the following date:

March 24, 2015, 8:30 am – 12 noon - CANCELED - New Date TBD St. Lawrence Room, PCH, Summerside, PE

Services Agreements for a wide variety of services across all areas of Health PEI services. How to Register: Registration Form: www.gov.pe.ca/photos/original/mrc_ldws_regist.pdf
