LeadershipProgram

Welcome to the University of South Australia’s Leadership Program for 2017!

Leadership is a term that is commonly used but rarely understood. At UniSA, our approach to student leadership development starts by helping you to gain an insight into your own strengths and weaknesses as a precursor to understanding how to lead teams. We believe you need to be able to manage yourself before you can lead others.

The 2017 Leadership Program provides you with an exciting opportunity to develop yourself personally and professionally and will equip you with the attitude, skills and knowledge that are required to successfully lead

Welcome

in times of competition, rapid change and increased global market diversity.

UniSA will offer a diverse set of experiences and challenges and give you a firsthand insight into different leadership styles and approaches. You will build self-awareness through the use of personality profiles and develop skills in effective teamwork and communication. Further to this, the Leadership Program outfits you with key skills required for success in a professional working environment including self-management, team-building and consensus building. It also offers you opportunites to work on real-life projects with UniSA staff and external stakeholders.

We have now developed leadership skills in over 150 students at UniSA and invite you to become a part of this growing cohort of future leaders. So many of our alumni consider the Leadership Program to be an eye-opening and life-changing experience, so don’t miss out on this once in a life-time opportunity!

Wishing you the best for your future studies and career.

Brendan Hughes, Director Student Engagement Unit

This is the leadership progression you can undertake through the UniSA Leadership Program.

ASPIRE will provide an insight into different styles of leadership, build your self-awareness and assist you to develop the skills needed to work effectively in leadership teams.

UNITE takes your leadership development a step further by focusing on more in-depth self-awareness and self-management strategies, team-building, consensus building and more. Existing UniSA student leaders will be offered the opportunity to participate in UNITE. This program is not open to application by individual students.

LEAD is a capstone program which is offered by invitation only. Exceptional leaders identified through the ASPIRE and UNITE programs will be offered this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of their strengths, weaknesses and values, while also collaborating towards a major initiative at UniSA. Students will receive ongoing coaching, mentoring and support as they seek to be a change leader on behalf of other students at UniSA!

Today’s university students will be the business, political and community leaders of tomorrow. That’s why we view our students as future change-makers and want to offer you every chance we can to develop your leadership qualities. It’s also why we’ve put together our Leadership Program, which offers some of the most exciting leadership development opportunities of any Australian university.
