The Sterling Community Food Coalition is a non-profit food pantry with the mission of providing food to people who are insecure in their food supply. Leadership MC 2019 has supported the Pantry by conducting a food drive in February, working at various Rook tournament fund raisers as well as having members volunteer at the Pantry.

The Veteran’s Pavilion at Bott’s Park is a non-profit organization formed in Montgomery County for building a pavilion at Bott’s Park to honor Montgomery County military veterans. Leadership MC 2019 held a bake sale during October Court Day weekend and has a “traveling” donation jar that is in a boot worn in combat by a veteran from Montgomery County. The boot has been placed in work locations of many of the class members. Class members also worked in the concession stands during the Guns vs Hoses basketball game as well as the Battle of the Badge basketball game during the last weekend of March and the first weekend of April. The proceeds from the concession stand will be donated to the VPaBP. Since the Park is still in the planning stages, the funds will be donated to purchase a bench at the Park.

FEATURED LEADERLMC Class of 2015 Graduate Elected Mayor of Mt. SterlingAl Botts, 2015 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County was elected Mayor of Mt. Sterling. He took office in January of 2019.

The Story of the Leadership Montgomery Co. LogoWhen Leadership Montgomery County began, the original organizers knew they needed to create a symbol to be used to promote the new organization. They also wanted to build a logo that was inspired by the LMC mission. Thus, the arrow logo still in use today was born. The design featured arrows pointing inward to represent the gathering of community members from different areas of the community who are focused on developing leadership skills. Encouraging LMC graduates to take those skills out into their various segments of the community and using the lessons learned the course to strengthen sponsor organizations, and various other civic and community groups is represented in the arrow that is pointed away.
