CMI MEMBERSHIP If you are not already a member at the time of registering on a CMI qualification then you will be provided with free Affiliate membership of the CMI through until the completion of your studies. There may be the opportunity to upgrade your membership during your studies dependant on successfully completing an assessment with CMI.

DELIVERY & STUDY COMMITMENT Delivery of the programme will be via structured teaching sessions. We suggest candidates spend the following amount of time studying each subject area:

Full attendance of the workshops 2–3 hours per week in guided self-study for the period of the assignment (usually 6–8 weeks per subject)

using a range of resources e.g. workbooks, journals, articles, e-learning and videos. All of which are provided free as part of your qualification.

2–3 days to write each assignment. There is one assignment for each subject.

CMI Level 7

Chris Croft has an Engineering Degree from Cambridge and an MBA. He initially worked as a senior manager in manufacturing before starting his own training company in 1995. Since then he has trained over 80,000 people, and his free email tips are sent to 11,000 people (www.free-management-tips.co.uk). Chris runs training courses in project management, time management and similar subjects almost every day, and has also produced a range of books which are available on amazon kindle, a project management rap which can be found on youtube, and phone apps called JobsToDo and “Daily Happiness Tips”.

Mandy Underwood, Chartered Fellow FCIPD, Chartered Manager FCMI Mandy’s experience of leadership training and development spans over 30 years; providing training and consultancy to both the private and public sectors at strategic and operational levels. She also has extensive experience of working as a strategic leader within the public sector. She has been working in the field of accreditation for 10 years specialising in vocational qualifications from Level 3 First Line Managers to Level 7 Strategic Leadership. Her role in this project will be the delivery of induction training, candidate support and guidance and liaison with the Chartered Management Institute in relation to marking and certification.

Tim Fuller is an experienced professional who blends commercial and business acumen with facilitation skills to provide clients with high quality development interventions loaded with doses of reality. He has combined his experience from working in senior management roles at large organisations with experience gained from consultancy and training interventions in multi-nationals and SMEs in both the public and private sector. Over the last 12 years Tim has worked as a consultant, facilitator and trainer to leaders and managers across the private, public and “not for profit” sectors. He designs and delivers a blend of accredited (Levels 5 to 7) and be-spoke non-accredited programmes.

Personal Leadership Development as a Strategic Manager (Unit 7001V1)

You will learn how to identify and achieve strategic ambitions by constructing, reviewing and evaluating a development plan to become a strategic leader and take into account Health & Safety responsibilities on an individual and corporate level.

Developing Performance Management Strategies (Unit 7002V1)

You will learn how to set strategic individual and team objectives to measure performance and use influencing skills to gain commitment from individuals to a course of action.

Be able to set performance targets of teams to meet strategic objectives Be able to agree team performance targets to contribute to meeting strategic objectives Be able to monitor actions and activities defined to improve team performance Be able to apply influencing and persuading skills, to the dynamics and politics of personal interactions

Financial Management (Unit 7003V1)

You will learn about analysis of financial data, accounting conventions and the principles of management accounting in order to make informed decisions on expenditure to ensure sustainability.

Be able to analyse financial data Be able to assess budgets based on financial data to support organisational objectives Understand how to evaluate financial proposals for expenditure submitted by others

Conducting a Strategic Management Project (Unit 7005V1)

You will learn about research methodology and apply it to a strategic investigative project, draw conclusions, make recommendations and evaluate the impact of the project

Be able to identify and justify a strategic investigative project Be able to conduct research and synthesise data to produce options that support the project aims Be able to draw conclusions and make recommendations that achieve the project aim Be able to develop and review the results of the investigative project

Strategic Planning (Unit 7011V1)

Understand the purpose of a strategic plan Be able to select a strategic direction from analysis of alternative strategic options Be able to implement and evaluate the strategic plan.

COURSE DELIVERY

The programme is taught in Guernsey, and the GTA is responsible for the day-to-day management of the programme, as well as providing support and pastoral care. They also hold feedback meetings with the students to discuss issues related to the programme.

The teaching sessions are held at the GTA training rooms in St Peter Port House, Sausmarez Street.

As part of the course students receive free membership of the GTA Study Centre at Morningside House, Le Marchant Street. Both facilities are equipped with wifi and offer modern teaching facilities and learning environments.

INDUCTION

All entrants to the programme will have an induction session offering advice and guidance regarding the online library resources through CMI. FEES

THE NEXT STEP - BECOME A CHARTERED MANAGER

On successful completion of a Level 7 qualification in Strategic Management and Leadership, you can apply to become a Chartered Manager. CMI qualifications at QCF Level 7 portray practical skills and competences that are rated in academic terms as being comparable to Master’s Degrees, Integrated Master’s Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Postgraduate Certificates.
