Business Advice With Reuben Chen, MD

Weekly Contact Is Key to SuccessIt’s said in the industry that “the fortune is in the follow up,” but this crucial business-building step is often overlooked. Support from sponsors and uplines is critical in keeping IBOs engaged and focused on building their Sunrider business, and weekly follow up is essential to creating trust and loyalty—important building blocks for growing your organization.

The ways you can follow up with your downline are so numerous it’s almost dizzying, so we’ve narrowed down the field for you below. Remember to contact your downline one to two times per week to build and maintain maximum momentum.

Social Media In 2014, eMarketer reported that 1.73 billion people are using social media, making this digital world an excellent place to connect with IBOs in a low-pressure way. Plus, it’s not just for the “young’uns” anymore. “Like” Sunrider’s Facebook page and subscribe to our YouTube channel (look up our social media training videos while you’re there) to stay informed.

SUNTRIM® PLUS Practice Portion Control Eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed like the Thanksgiving turkey. SunTrim® Plus helps you enjoy your favorite treats while eating smaller portions. Simply take three capsules 30–45 minutes before eating for fast-acting portion control.*

VITATASTE® Avoid Dessert Disaster Enjoy those sweet holiday confections without packing on the pounds. VitaTaste® is an herbal concentrate that inhibits the absorption of sugar and simple carbohydrates by the body.* Take 2–3 capsules before hitting the holiday parties.

FORTUNE DELIGHT® Cheers to Health Did you know 8 ounces of eggnog contains a whopping 343 calories? Fortune Delight® is an antioxidant-rich, low-calorie replacement for sugary sodas, alcoholic beverages, and other unhealthy holiday drinks.

FITNESS BRIGADE® Work It Off Regular exercise helps relieve holiday stress and torch calories to prevent weight gain from those decadent desserts. Fitness Brigade® workouts only take 45 minutes (perfect for the time-crunched season) and can be done in the convenience of your home.

FOUR TIPS TO TAME HOLIDAY WEIGHT GAIN Get Through the Holidays Without Adding Another Notch in Your Belt. PLAN AHEAD. Eat something healthy at home or on your way to the party so you don’t overindulge. “Saving” your calories until the big buffet supports the tendency to “pig out” and make unhealthy choices.

FILL UP ON LESS-FATTENING FARE. Think white-meat turkey (skip the skin, it’s super high in calories and fat), fresh vegetables, salads (light on the dressing), and whole-grain breads and pastas.

BRING A HEALTHY DISH WHEN POSSIBLE. You’ll provide other guests a nutritious option and may inspire their desire to eat well.

CHOOSE INDULGENCES WISELY. The holidays are not the time for the D word (diet). Pick a couple of your favorite dishes to treat yourself and let that indulgence satisfy you.

THE AFTERMATH OF OVEREATING: Bloating, lethargy, heartburn, shortness of breath, nausea, and belching.

SUCCESS STORY MeiYun Wu | Business Leader | Brooklyn, New York

JOINING SUNRIDER Before doing Sunrider I worked in sales, and then later I opened a cosmetics shop. The business environment and competition in the makeup market is fierce and rent in New York is extremely high, so even though I worked long hours, opening my shop early and closing late, my business was in deep trouble and I struggled to keep it open. The traditional business model alone was simply not working for me. As I was dazed and wondering what to do, I got to know Sunrider, and I believe this was God’s blessing. At first I was opposed to direct sales, but then my customers began commenting on the products and their benefits, and this gave me the confidence to fully commit to sharing the products and the business opportunity.

BECOMING A BUSINESS LEADER I became a Business Leader by sharing the business and products everywhere I go—the subway, schools, and in the stations. When someone is in need, I take the opportunity to tell them about how Sunrider can improve their life. And I always carry some of our products with me so I can easily share with others. During the sales process, I write down their name and telephone number, and then I call them a week later to ask if they have any questions or concerns, or if they need any help. Then I follow up again one month later to help solidify our working relationship. In this way, our business is about personal networks built on relationships. First, people get to know you through personal contact and you earn their trust, and then they will have the confidence to use the products and be open to the business. I treat everyone sincerely. With enthusiastic, caring, and sincere service, customers become friends and then join the Sunrider business. This is why our team continues growing and reaching more people.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE Since I joined Sunrider, the quality of life for my family has improved immensely. I am healthier and look younger, can provide more financially, and I’ve also become more confident and calm.* My next goal is to become a Group Business Leader and win the $10,000 bonus from the Leadership Challenge. I want to thank Sunrider for providing a platform to build a successful and profitable business. People like me, who have no diploma, no money, and no special skills, can work hard and achieve health and wealth and improve the lives of their family. I love that the Sunrider business allows me to help people discover financial freedom and a life of wellness and beauty.*

* The earnings stated above are not necessarily representative or typical of the earnings Sunrider Independent Business Owners (IBOs) can or will earn through participation in the Sunrider Business Plan. These statements should not be considered guarantees or projections of your actual earnings or profits. The average annual income of active Sunrider IBOs based on the months they were active was $2,344 in 2014. An active Sunrider IBO is an IBO who has $100 or more in IBO Sales in a month.
