This document describes improvements and features updates that have been made and will be made as part of the 2020 release of LaunchBoard dashboards in addition to incorporating 2018-19 enrollment and completion data, 2017-18 transfer and employment and earnings data, and 2016-17 CTE Outcomes Survey data.

STUDENT SUCCESS METRICS DASHBOARDThe Student Success Metrics Dashboard showcases student progression along various educational journeys, from recruitment to completion, transfer, and the workforce. The metrics provide a holistic approach to work on student success across funding streams and initiatives and can support colleges in setting goals that align with the Vision for Success.

During 2020-21, the Chancellor’s Office will be redesigning the user interface, with support from the Foundation for California Community Colleges, Educational Results Partnership, and WestEd. The redesign will be based on input from the Student Success Workgroup and interviews with stakeholders.

As part of the May or June 2020 release, two new drilldowns have been added to the dashboard for College Promise/BOG Recipient under Financial Aid and for Credit ESL under Characteristics. One new metric has been added for overall transfer to a four-year institution. The “All Search” button has been removed, and keyboard navigation has been incorporated. In addition, the display of the Unit Attainment metric has been updated to only display quarter units when a college or district on the quarter system is selected.

Changes have also been made to the displayed values that are masked to protect student identities with more explanatory text, list of masked categories in the footer, pop-up text to explain FERP and complementary suppression, and link to separate document with additional FERP explanations and examples.

Resources have been updated and new resources have been provided to help with interpretation of the data displayed.

ADULT EDUCATION PIPELINE DASHBOARDThe Adult Education Pipeline displays data along Adult Education and noncredit students’ journeys including progress, transition, completion, and the workforce. Data from TOPSpro Enterprise and noncredit data from the Chancellor’s Office Management Information system is integrated to display a comprehensive picture of California Adult Education Program measures and outcomes. Practitioners can view many metrics by program including ESL, Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education and CTE.

As part of the May 2020 release, a number of new metrics have been added including:

• Students with an Enrollment who Received Services• Students with 1-11 instructional contact hours• Students without an Enrollment who Received Services• First Time Participants• Returning or Continuing Participants• Participants Taking Courses in More Than One Program Area• Participants Taking Courses in More Than One Adult School• Participants who Subsequently Took Transfer Level Math• Participants who Subsequently Took Transfer Level English• Year to Year Persistence

A new drilldown for first time vs returning students has been added to several metrics. A new locale has been added to view data by Community College District (CCD) since TOPSpro Enterprise data is nearly always available only at the CCD level. In addition, there have been a number of changes to definitions for better alignment with CASAS and with the Student Success metrics.

Resources have been updated and new resources have been provided to help with interpretation of the data displayed.

STRONG WORKFORCE PROGRAM DASHBOARDThe Strong Workforce Program dashboard displays metrics included in the 17% SWP Incentive funding for colleges and for regions. This dashboard also displays data at the industry sector and CTE program or CTE TOP code level for CTE students only.

In November 2019, this dashboard was updated with metrics and with metric definitions to align with those in Student Success. The look and feel of this accountability dashboard has also been brought into alignment with Student Success Metrics. The “Classic” SWP dashboard with the prior metrics and metric definitions can be accessed via a link.

In June 2020, this dashboard will be brought into full alignment with Student Success Metrics and the Community College Pipeline and refreshed with 2018-19 enrollment and completion data, 2017-18 transfer and employment and earnings data, and 2016-17 CTE Outcomes Survey data.

COMMUNTIY COLLEGE PIPELINE DASHBOARDThe Community College Pipeline is the most comprehensive dashboard offering views of students along their journeys at the industry sector and program or TOP code level. It also allows practitioners to view metrics for all CTE programs and to view metrics by credit and noncredit students with the credit status drilldown.

As part of the June 2020 release, all metrics displayed on the Student Success Metric dashboard have been added, and metric definitions have been brought into alignment with those in Student Success.

GUIDED PATHWAYS DASHBOARDThe Guided Pathways dashboard is the only dashboard that offers a cohort view of first-time students instead of a snapshot view. It is intended to provide viewers with first-year
