18. ESSAY WRITING 1) My favourite hobby is playing drums. I spend a lot of my free time playing

drums. I started learning to play drums when I was 4 years old. I played in my school’s band. When I was 5, I got a private drum teacher and started to really enjoyplaying.

My parents bought me a drum set and I started practising everyday after school. It was very loud, but my mother never complained. I improved a lot and playing drums has been my favourite hobby ever since.

Now, I play drums in a band with my friend Dan, who plays guitar. We write songs, perform and practice twice a week. It’s still as fun as it was when Ifirststartedplaying!

2) Last month, we went to the historical place called Amaravati. It is situated on the bank of river Krishna in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. It is the place ofAmareswara temple. The temple is of Lord Shiva. We first went to thetemple and worshipped the God. History says that this temple was built during Satavahana period.

After lunch, we visited the Archaeological Museum where we had seen the relics of Buddhism and statues of Buddha. We played for sometime in the museum park.

In the evening, we went to river Krishna and sailed on the boat. It was an amazing feeling sailing on water. We returned to our homes at night.

We almost never quarrel. If anything goes wrong, we immediately realize the mistake and soon became friends. That’s why, we say ourselves as best friends. All other students call us “Trimurthees”.

We should be kind and soft in tone while talking to others. In no case, we should lose our temper because anger is a momentary madness. We should be polite even while refusing the unfair requests of others. Talk less and listen more is always praiseworthy as it saves us from many problems. This quality adds extra to the life.

We can learn good manners by studying the lives of great men and can mould our character. Our success depends on good manners to a great extent. Let’s be men of good manners to achieve the very essence of humanity.
