Advanced high performance semiconductor devices can be sensitive to Single Event Latch-Up (SEL)effects when exposed to radiation in a space environment. Even though SEL is a very rare event, it canlead to device destruction and therefore must be mitigated to ensure the reliability and success of themission. Therefore, mission critical space applications that may be susceptible to SEL, should includeprotection devices such as a Latch-Up current Limiter (LCL).
The LCL is the best solution for power lines protection for advanced high performance electronics suchas ASICs, FPGAs (Actel, Xilinx,…) and memory banks in space applications: sciences and deep spacemissions, Earth observation, navigation, launchers and manned space vehicles.

The 3DPM0168-2 LCL Module monitors the powersupply line of radiation sensitive devices and switchesthem off instantaneously in case of “radiation inducedSEL” or high-current events in order to protect thedevice from over current and overheating.
The LCL Module offers two adjustable thresholdcurrents: to control device Run & Standby currents andtwo operating modes: Automatic reconnection withadjustable delay or reconnection through ON/OFFcommand.
Featuring specific radiation effect mitigation techniquesand utilizing space design derating rules, the3DPM0168-2 Latch-up Current Limiter is an ITAR Freeproduct and features a SEL/SEE LETth of 80MeV.cm2/mg and a TID of 50krad (Si).
