edicated bargain hunt-ers won’t like us let-ting out the secret butLangley, more specif-

angley City, is packedift shops.’s nine of them as of16 and about a dozenween the City andip.f the newest ise Finds which benefits

y Meals on Wheels.people shop thrift

o find distinctive items.do it for the savingsuse items that mayse end up in a landfill. Still others want to support the

cause running the shop.Locally people can shop to

support local or internationalcauses, faith-based efforts orhealth care.

Many local thrift storesrely on volunteers to sort, price and stock shelves sothey can sell goods to benefittheir cause of choice.

Experienced thrifters knowto watch the stores as eachhas promotions and sales.

Not a thrift store shop-per? That’s okay. Help putcool stuff on their shelves.Everyone has stuff around

the house they no longer needor want.

Each of the shops acceptdonations but they differ inwhat they carry. It’s best to dosome online research to findout what’s accepted, at whichsite and what to do with withitems that are not accepted.

Donating items that cannotbe resold means the charitiesmust pay for disposal whichreduces the amounts they raisefor their causes and charities.

Many of the shops havewebsites or Facebook pages toprovide up to date information.

    There’s other ways to find

out about what to do with thatpurple couch or leftover dry-wall from a project, that jacketthat no longer fits the kids orthe treadmill gathering dust inthe corner of the bedroom.

Langley City and Townshiphave recycling and greenwasteinformation on their websitesas well as brochures to outlineoptions and schedules.

British Columbia has anextensive network of recyclingsites, reuse possibilities andgreen campaigns. Check withthe Recycling Council of B.C.on what goes where so lessends up in the landfill.
