Year 2 explore Arundel CastleThe Year 2 children had an amazing day at Arundel Castle. The children

loved the castle so much that two of them said they were moving in!There was even an unexpected wedding between Lady Matilda and the

Commanding Officer! In the children’s own words it was the best day ever.

Harvest FestivalNursery and Pre-Prep sang beautifully at their Harvest

assembly on Wednesday. The songs had a ‘Strictly’ feel to them with a samba, tango and habanera being sung (rather than danced). Nursery sang ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’ with gusto, Reception sang an American folk song as a round, Year 1 recited an acrostic poem they had composed themselves and Year 2 brought an interactive element to the proceedings by asking the audience to guess the answer to their Harvest riddles.

One parent commented that this assembly had been ‘the best one yet!’ Thank you to everyone who has donated tins of fruits and vegetables to be given to Turning Tides this year.

Year 8 unlock the past at Chichester Cathedral

Year 8 journeyed to the past last week with a whole day of workshops and activities at Chichester Cathedral.

Students took the opportunity to experience a medieval pilgrimage workshop, they learnt about the history of stained glass windows (and even made their own), before taking part in a treasure hunt around the Cathedral.

As usual the Education department of the Cathedral delivered a wonderful experience for our children – even providing actors who took on the role of prominent people from the Cathedral’s past!

It was a very adventurous and exciting day for all involved.

Time for ThymeOur chef Steve put out a huge

array of fresh herbs on a table in the hall over lunchtime for the children to touch, smell and taste. It was a real sensory treat and the children loved it!

Reception play PostmanReception walked to the postbox to post the

postcards they wrote to their families last week. On the way we spotted a huge, colourful snail in someone’s garden and were lucky enough to be invited into the garden to see it! We had fun spotting numbers on houses before we reached the postbox.

We talked about where the letters might travel to and what they might travel in: aeroplane, train or van. The children decided that their letters would travel in a van. Hopefully they will be delivered soon!

String Day at Lancing CollegeSeven of our most senior String players, Anna B, Harriet B, Amelia G,

Nerea K-M, Alexander S, Grace S and Emma S attended the Lancing College Prep Schools String Day. This is an annual event to which our senior instrumentalists are invited.

The morning was spent in a full rehearsal under the direction of specialist staff from the College Music department and the afternoon followed with sectional rehearsals for each of the instruments. The students then joined forces once again to perform in the Chapel for their parents and College staff.
