Magickal Recipes

Incenses

Incenses are composed of a variety of leaves, flowers, roots,

barks, woods, resins, gums and oils. Semiprecious stones may

also be added to incenses to lend their energies to the mixture.

Most wiccans make noncombustible incense for burning on hot

charcoal tablets. All the recipes below will be of this type. They

are not self-burning like the cones or sticks you burn. You have

to add potassium nitrate or saltpeter to the recipe to convert it

to combustible form and then shape it into cones or sticks.

All ingredients need to be finely ground with a mortar and

pestle. While grinding visualize your intent and direct it into the

herbs as you mix and grind them.

Abramelin Incense

2 parts Myrrh

1 part Wood Aloe

a few drops Cinnamon oil

Burn to contact spirits during rituals or as a simple

consecration incense to sanctify the altar or magickal

tools.

Air Incense

Clearing Incense

Burn this incense to clear your home of negative

vibrations, especially when household members are

arguing or when the house seems heavy and thick with

anger, jealousy, depression, fear and other negative

emotions. Leave the windows open while burning this

mixture.

Consecration Incense

2 parts Wood Aloe

1 part Mace

1 part Storax (or Gum Arabic)

1 part Benzoin

When purifying or consecrating magickal tools, jewelry,

quartz crystals and other stones, smolder this incense

and pass the tool through its smoke several times. Do

this while visualizing the fumes purifying the tool.

Courage Incense

2 parts Dragon's Blood

1 part Frankincense

a few drops Musk oil

1 part Rose Geranium leaves (or a few drops Rose

Geranium oil)

Few drops Tonka bouquet

Smolder this incense when you lack courage. If tonka

bouquet is unavailable, use tonka tincture or vanilla

tincture (or extract).

Crystal Purification Incense


2 parts Copal

1 part Sandalwood

1 part Rosemary

1 pinch finely powdered Salt

1 sm. purified Quartz Crystal point

To use, pour a bit of the incense (leaving the crystal in

the jar) onto charcoal. Smolder, and pass the crystals to

be purified through the smoke, visualizing the smoke

wafting away the stone's impurities. This incense can be

used in conjunction with other recommended purifying

rituals, or in place of them. To cleanse the crystal, leave it

in sunlight for a few days, place it in running water

overnight, or bury it in the Earth for a week.

Curse Breaker Incense

2 parts Sandalwood

1 part Bay

Burn at night near an open window if you feel cursed.

Smolder this incense and visualize it banishing all

negativity from you. Repeat this ritual for seven nights

during the Waning Moon, if possible and desirable.

Divination Incense

1 part Clove

1 part Chicory

1 part Cinquefoil

Smolder during or directly before using tarot cards,

magick mirrors, quartz crystal spheres, rune stones and so

on. but be aware: this incense doesn't smell great.

Divination Incense #2

2 parts Sandalwood

1 part Orange peel

1 part Mace

1 part Cinnamon

Another like the above, only this one smells better.

Dream Incense

2 parts Sandalwood

Few drops Tuberose bouquet

Few drops Jasmine oil

Burn a bit in the bedroom prior to sleep to produce

psychic dreams. Remove the censer from the room before

retiring. Use only genuine camphor. If this is unavailable,

add a few drops spirits of camphor. Available in most

drug stores.

Earth Incense (Elemental)

2 parts Pine resin (pitch) or needles

1 part Patchouly 1 pinch finely powdered salt

Few drops Cypress oil

Burn for invoking the powers of the element of Earth for

money, stability and so on.

Earth Incense (Planetary)

1 part Pine needles

1 part Thyme

a few drops Patchouly oil

Burn to honor the Earth, and for all Earth reverencing

rituals.

Egyptian deity such as Isis, Osiris, Thoth, Anubis,

Eightfold Hearth Incense

Burn for a safe, warm, loving home. Also give as a gift to

others.

Esbat Incense

Burn during rituals and spells on the Full Moon, or at

Burn with open windows in disturbed places as a heavy

purificatory incense, and breathe through your mouth

Fire Incense (Elemental)

Smolder for summoning the powers and beings of Fire,

and also for success, strength, protection, health,

passion and other similar goals. Genuine saffron is

expensive; so the smallest pinch will do. If you have none,

substitute orange peel.

Fire of Azrael

1 part Sandalwood

1 part Cedar

1 part Juniper

Burn while scrying, or throw onto the coals of a fire once

the flames have been quenched and gaze into them to see

images from within them. The latter rite is best performed

on a beach at night. Also used as a general psychism

inducing incense.

Full Moon Ritual Incense

Burn during Full Moon rituals, or simply to attune with

the Moon.

Burn in your home to cleanse it at least once a month,

perhaps on a Full Moon. Additionally, burn this mixture

in a new home before moving in.

Imbolc Incense



1/2 part Red Sandalwood

1 part Cinnamon

a few drops Red Wine

To this mixture add a pinch of the first flower (dry it first)

that is available in your area at the time of Imbolc (Feb.

1st). Burn during Wiccan ceremonies on Imbolc, or

simply to attune with the symbolic rebirth of the Sun -

the fading of Winter and the promise of spring.

Isis Incense

3 parts Myrrh

2 parts Sandalwood

1 part Frankincense

1 part Rose petal

Few drops Lotus bouquet

Burn while reverencing Isis. Or, burn during any type of

magickal operation, since Isis is the Goddess of all

things.

Jupiter Incense (Planetary)

2 parts Wood Aloe

1 part Benzoin

1 part Storax (or Gum Arabic)

1/4 part Ash seed

Pinch powdered Lapis Lazuli

Few drops Olive oil

Mix and burn. This unusual formula includes a stone

(Lapis Lazuli), and could also be mixed together and

carried as a Jupiterian talisman charm. Burn for spells

involving riches, expansion, the law of luck.

Kyphi Incense


2 part Benzoin

2 part Gum Mastic

2 part Myrrh

1 part Cedar

1 part Galangal (or Ginger)

1/2 part Calamus (or Vetivert)

1/2 part Cardamom

1/2 part Cinnamon

7 raisins

Mix the ground dry ingredients thoroughly. Let sit in an

airtight container two weeks. In a separate bowl, mix

together with oil, wine, honey and raisins. Add to the dry

ingredients and blend with the hands. Let sit another two

weeks. Then, if desired, grind to a fine powder. Kyphi is

used in night rituals, to invoke Egyptian Goddesses and

Gods, and as a general magickal incense.

Leo Incense

To guard from thieves: during the day smolder this

mixture in a sensor before the front door, then move it to

each opening in the house ( doors, windows, cellars, etc.)

through which thieves may enter. Visualize this smoke

forming invisible but inpenetrable barriers. Move in a

clockwise circle throughout your home, replenishing the

incense as necessary. Repeat monthly at the time of the

Full Moon, if possible, or use as needed. This incense is

designed to "lock" your home against unwanted intruders.

Love Incense

2 parts Sandalwood

1/2 part Basil

1/2 part Bergamot

a few drops Rose oil

a few drops Lavender oil

Burn to attract love, to strengthen the love you have,

and to expand your ability to give and receive love.

Lughnasa Incense


1 part Heather

1 part Apple blossom

1 pinch Blackberry leaf

Burn Lughnasa incense during Wiccan rituals on

August 1st or 2nd , or at that time to attune with the

coming harvest.

Mabon Incense

1/2 part Oakmoss (or a few drops Oakmoss bouquet)

Most magical oil recipes call for the various essential oils

to be added to 1/8 cup of base or carrier oil. This base

oil can be any of the following: Jojoba, Grapeseed,

Apricot, Almond Oil. Some recipes are measured in

Drams. A Dram is a unit of apothecary weight equal to

an eighth of an ounce or to 60 grains

Place all ingredients in a clear glass jar & gently swirl in a

clockwise direction. Keep in mind images of the Goddess

Mix the essential oils in a base of sesame oil. Add the

dried mint leaf to the blend. Wear during rituals of

Use 1/4 cup Sunflower Oil as Base

When the Moon is full, crush the pumpkin seeds using a

mortar & pestle, & then mix all of the ingredients together

by the light of a new white candle. Using a sterilized silver

pin, prick your right thumb & add 3 drops of your blood

to the mixture. Spit twice into the mixture & stir thrice.

The Witches' Alphabet

The Witches' Alphabet is a script used by some Witches as a secret alphabet. It has also been called the Theban script. The Witches' alphabet was popular in the Craft Community during the 1960's and 1970's, but

was gradually replaced by Germanic and Celtic runes sometime in the mid-1980's. A few traditions still employ this old alphabet.

objects that you use for magick. You can even wear magickal symbols on your clothing.

Like a magickal alphabet, magickal symbols speak to your unconscious. You can use

symbols to make a statement. For example, a Goddess symbol on your wand could stand

for your dedication to the Lady and your commitment to use magick for the good of all. You

can also use symbols to further define your magickal intention - carve them on a candle for

candle magick, sew them on a poppet, or draw them on paper and place them inside your poppet.

You can even use magickal symbols when writing in your Book of Shadows. If you

don't feel like writing the word cauldron, you can draw the symbol instead.
