This year Gloria was award-ed Zonta Woman of the Year. Gloria has always been committed to giving back to the community. She co-founded the community Thanksgiving Day dinner at Hudson’s On the Docks, a logistical feat that should notbe taken for granted. As everyone watches the economy and is waiting to see if we have actu-ally hit bottom in real estate, there are several economic authoritites saying now is the time to buy real estate. First, Warren Buffett in a recent interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box was asked if he felt now was the time to buy real estate. He emphatically answered “If I had a way of buying a couple hundred thousand single fam-ily homes, I would load up on them?” He answered the question from three different angles. Why invest in real estate now? “It’s a way, in effect, to shorten the dollar because you can take a 30-year mortgage and if it turns out your interest rate’s too high, next week you refinance lower. And if it turns out it’s too low, the other guy’s stuck with it for 30 years. So it’s a very attractive asset class now.” Is buying your own home bet-ter than investing in stocks right now? “If I knew where I was going to want to live the next five or 10 years, I would buy a home and I’d finance it with a 30-year mortgage… It’s a terrific deal.”

What the Bears and Bulls are really saying!

Cook pasta according to package directions. Sprinkle shrimp with salt, pepper, and toss to combine. Sprinkle 1 tbsp flour over the shrimp, and toss to coat the shrimp. Sprinkle 1 more tbsp flour and toss to evenly coat the shrimp. Melt butter and olive oil in a large skillet over me-dium high heat. When hot, add the shrimp in a single layer and cook on each side, flipping once, until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove to plate. Pour in the chicken broth. Cook for about 5 minutes, whisking the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Reduce heat to medium and pour in cream, whisking constantly. Cook sauce over medium heat until bubbly and the cream starts to thicken the mixture, about 5 minutes. Taste the sauce and add seasonings as desired (salt, pepper, cajun seasonings, etc.) Add the drained pasta and shrimp to the sauce, and stir to combine.*
