Where we were

• April 2012– Poor sales in Q1 of 2012– Forced to ask all staff to go on to a four day

week– Staff turnover 23%– Average uncertified sickness 2.8 days per

employee– Three employees signed off with stress

related illness in previous 12 months

What we did

• Employees surveyed• Launched fruit drop • Offered stop smoking assistance to those who

wanted it• Provided information on healthy eating, physical

activity, stress etc via posters and notice boards• Trained managers in stress prevention• Enrolled staff on Step Into Health course• Arranged free health check• Arranged activities for Mental Health Awareness

• April 2013– Staff turnover 8.87% (62% reduction)– Average uncertified sickness 2.3 days per

employee (17% reduction)– No stress related absence Apr 12- Mar 13– 50% reduction in number of employees who

find their roles either very or extremely stressful

– 23% reduction in numbers of smokers
