KW Special Projects Ltd (KWSP)
• KW Special Projects Ltd is a young dynamic engineering team with
a variety of engineering technology skills and a “can do”
ethos born out of a motorsport environment where ‘speed’
and ‘high performance’
make the difference.
• KWSP was established in 2012 by Kieron Salter, also Managing Director of KW Motorsport Ltd (KWM) to facilitate the growing diversification of the non-
motorsport engineering requirements of the high performance technology sector.
• Rapid growth and development in it’s first year, including investment in new members of staff and larger premises.

Facilities
• Based in prestigious new premises close to Mercedes AMG PETRONAS
F1 facilities in Brackley, in the heart of “Motorsport Valley”
and part of a concentration of over 1000 companies in Northamptonshire that form the “High Performance Technologies Cluster”.
• KWSP, Unit 6 has the ability to facilitate large projects including design engineering, on-site assembly, testing, R&D and commissioning.

What We Do
• KWSP is an engineering company, supplying and manufacturing High
Performance and specialist automated industrial machines and Inkjet solutions.
• KWSP is the only UK based high quality, precision, industrial, applications based systems integrator of Inkjet technology, software, chemistry and
mechanical engineering design.
• KWSP offers project management and consultancy, CAD design, integration solutions, product development, assembly, prototyping, programming and software. All benefited by our innovative motorsport background,
knowledge and ‘disruptive’
attitude.
• KWSP has engineered machines that are capable of producing large
images intended for decoration and smaller machines designed to deposit
delicate patterns onto to a fragile substrate.
• Inkjet can be used for the accurate deposition of any functional
fluid, such as coatings, conductive materials and bio inks.

What We Do
• Other possible applications for Inkjet include –
printed circuit boards, printed 3dimensional skin cell structures, stem cells, solar panels and smart materials in textiles.
• Useful applications for this technology are numerous because of its potential for flexibility and increased productivity.
• Inkjet printing is highly cost and time efficient because it reduces waste and speeds up production times due to the controlled amount of fluid
and defined pattern in deposition.
• Inkjet is a complex technology that combines a number of engineering and scientific disciplines to create 24/7 production solutions.

Capability
• Systems integration and specialism in industrial Inkjet printers
for manufacturing industrial decoration.
• Industrial Automation.
• High Performance engineering experience gained from a broad range high tech market sectors.
• Motorsport knowledge provides alternative approaches to projects
through an exchange of technology, for example the benefits of developing and applying composites and light weight structures, which result in efficient engineering solutions.
• PLC Programming and Software Engineering
• CAD design –

Composite Structures
• In industrial High Performance machine design Carbon Composites can have many significant benefits and on balance of function and capability can provide cost effective solutions to some of the engineering problems encountered in precision and high speed motion control.
• Carbon Composites can be fabricated into very light, very stiff structures.
• Carbon Composites have very high stability to thermal expansion with thermal expansion coefficients of nearly zero -
unmatched by aluminium and most steels.
• Composites can be moulded into very complex structures that can include by-product features such as cable management, accessibility features and form factors not achievable in other fabrications allowing for a significant reduction in parts count by intelligent design and high level system integration.

CAE & Simulation
• Using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) including CFD and FEA, KWSP can model and simulate the virtual environment of the ink systems and printing environment and machine to ensure any critical parameters are maintained.
• For example Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can be used to simulate and solve many of the engineering challenges in managing fluids either within the system, or within the operating environment of the system.
• CFD can model the complete ink path for solving simple flow efficiencies or thermal analysis within the fluid.

Technology Transfer
• Carbon Composite Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) are commonly used in High Performance applications such as Motorsport and Aerospace.
• The benefits of being able to create very light, very strong integrated functional moulded structures in relatively low production volumes maybe obvious in Motorsport and less so in Inkjet….
• KWSP designed and manufactured a composite structure that weighed only 30% of the equivalent traditional aluminium structure and also facilitated other significant benefits, including -
better access for service, increased stiffness, print head positional tolerance, temperature stability (CFRP thermal expansion coefficient is nearly Zero) and in addition incorporated ventilation, cooling and full cable and pipe management systems.
