Foreword

The text of ISO 9606-1:2012 including Cor 1:2012 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44 “Welding and allied processes” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 9606-1:2013 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 “Welding” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by October 2015.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

This document supersedes EN 287-1:2011.

Relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of EU Directive 97/23/EC

This European Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 97/23/EC.

Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive and has been implemented as a national standard in at least one Member State, compliance with the clauses of this standard given in table ZA.1 confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding Essential Requirements of that Directive and associated EFTA regulations.

6.5.1 General

In 6.5.2 and 6.5.3, details of the type, dimensions, and preparation of the test pieces and test specimens are given. In addition, the requirements for destructive tests are indicated. For root, face or side bend, or fracture tests, one specimen shall be taken from the start and stop area in the examination length.

Foreword

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.

International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.

The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 9606-1:1994), which has been technically revised. It also incorporates the Amendment ISO 9606-1:1994/Amd.1:1998.

ISO 9606 consists of the following parts, under the general title Qualification testing of welders — Fusion welding:

Part 2: Aluminium and aluminium alloys

Part 3: Copper and copper alloys

Part 4: Nickel and nickel alloys

Part 5: Titanium and titanium alloys, zirconium and zirconium alloys

Hvert medlemsland, som er interesseret i et emne, inden for hvilket der er oprettet en teknisk komité, har ret til at være repræsenteret i den pågældende komité. Internationale organisationer, både statslige og ikke-statsli-ge, der har en samarbejdsaftale med ISO, deltager ligeledes i arbejdet. ISO samarbejder tæt med IEC (the Internatio-nal Electrotechnical Commission) i alle forhold vedrørende elektroteknisk standardisering.

Internationale standarder udarbejdes i overensstemmelse med reglerne i ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.

Tekniske komitéers primære opgave er at udarbejde internationale standarder. Forslag til internationale standarder, der er godkendt af de tekniske komitéer, sendes ud til medlemslandene til afstemning. Offentliggørelse som inter-national standard kræver godkendelse af mindst 75 % af de medlemslande, som afgiver deres stemme.

ISO 9606-1 er udarbejdet af teknisk komité ISO/TC 44, Welding and allied processes, underkomité SC 11, Qualifica-tion requirements for welding and allied processes personnel.

Denne 2. udgave ophæver og erstatter 1. udgave (ISO 9606 1:1994), hvis indhold er blevet teknisk revideret. Tillæg-get ISO 9606-1:1994/Amd.1:1998 er også indarbejdet.

Introduction

The ability of a welder to follow verbal or written instructions and verification of a person's skills are important factors in ensuring the quality of the welded product.

The testing of a welder's skill in accordance with this International Standard depends on the welding techniques and conditions used, in which uniform rules are complied with and standard test pieces are used.

The principle of this International Standard is that a qualification test qualifies a welder not only for the conditions used in the test, but also for all other conditions which are considered easier to weld in accordance with this International Standard. It is presumed that the welder has received training and/or has industrial practice within the range of qualification.

The qualification test can be used to qualify a welding procedure and a welder provided that all the relevant requirements, e.g. test piece dimensions and testing requirements are satisfied (see ISO 15614-1[11]).

All new qualifications shall be in accordance with each part of this International Standard from its date of issue.

At the end of its period of validity, existing qualification tests of welders in accordance with the requirement of a national standard may be revalidated according to this International Standard. This is providing that the technical intent of this International Standard is satisfied. It is necessary for the new range of qualification to be interpreted in accordance with the requirements of this International Standard.

IndledningSvejserens evne til at følge mundtlige eller skriftlige instruktioner og verifikation af svejserens faglige færdigheder er vigtige faktorer til sikring af det svejste produkts kvalitet.

Prøvningen af en svejsers færdigheder i henhold til denne internationale standard afhænger af de anvendte svejse-teknikker og -betingelser, hvor der er fastsat ensartede regler, og hvor der anvendes standardiserede prøveemner.

Princippet i denne internationale standard er, at en kvalificeringsprøve kvalificerer svejseren, ikke blot til de betingel-ser, der er anvendt ved prøven, men også til alle samlinger, som betragtes som lettere at svejse i henhold til denne internationale standard. Det antages, at svejseren har modtaget oplæring og/eller har industriel erfaring inden for gyldighedsområdet.

Kvalificeringsprøven kan anvendes til at kvalificere en svejseprocedure og en svejser, forudsat at alle relevante krav, fx prøveemnets dimensioner og prøvningskrav, er opfyldt (se ISO 15614-1[11]).

Alle nye kvalificeringer skal være i overensstemmelse med alle dele af denne internationale standard fra udgivel-sesdagen.

Ved udgangen af gyldighedsperioden kan eksisterende kvalificeringsprøver for svejsere i overensstemmelse med kravene i en national standard blive fornyet i henhold til denne internationale standard. Det er en forudsætning, at denne internationale standards tekniske formål er opfyldt. Det er nødvendigt, at det nye gyldighedsområde fortol-kes i henhold til kravene i denne internationale standard.

Part 1: Steels

1 Scope

This part of ISO 9606 specifies the requirements for qualification testing of welders for fusion welding of steels.

It provides a set of technical rules for a systematic qualification test of the welder, and enables such qualifications to be uniformly accepted independently of the type of product, location and examiner or examining body.

When qualifying welders, the emphasis is placed on the welder's ability manually to manipulate the electrode, welding torch or welding blowpipe, thereby producing a weld of acceptable quality.

The welding processes referred to in this part of ISO 9606 include those fusion-welding processes which are designated as manual or partly mechanized welding. It does not cover fully mechanized and automated welding processes.

1 AnvendelsesområdeDenne del af ISO 9606 fastlægger kravene til kvalificeringsprøven for svejsere inden for smeltesvejsning af stål.

Standarden angiver et sæt tekniske regler for en systematisk kvalificeringsprøve for svejseren, og den muliggør, at sådanne kvalificeringer opnår ensartet anerkendelse uafhængigt af produkttypen, stedet og eksaminator eller den eksaminerende instans.

Når svejsere uddannes, lægges der vægt på svejserens evne til manuelt at betjene elektroden, svejsepistolen eller svejsebrænderen og dermed lave en svejsning af acceptabel kvalitet.
