CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
As student, we should know mentor mentee is important. Mentoring is
where a mentor engages his mentees to learn and reach their development
goals. The Mentoring program is also a framework where both parties in a
relationship can be supported in clarifying their roles and their objectives. It
also provides a framework for the mentee to develop and learn alongside an
experienced peer. Good relationship between mentor mentee would be factor
that determine student’s succession.
At Unisza context, there are mentor mentee program. So, why not we
develop the system to make mentor mentee program become easier. Student
can contact with their mentor not only limited when they in same place and
time.

1.2 Problem Statement
Mentor mentee program become crucial at university level. Each
student have their own favourite lecturer. Sometime students and lecturers
have pair randomly. Furthermore, they found a lecture that a little bit off chart
like what they desire. Second, mentor mentee program usually happen when
student have to face to face with their lecturer. We already know that student
are burdened with assignment, social life, quiz, examination and so on. They
need cancel or postponed some of their important tasks to attend to mentor
mentee gathering. Otherwise, lecturers also have the same issue. Not every
lecturers lives near the campus. Some of them need to wake up early in the
morning and drive to work. In addition, they also have their own lifestyle.
They have family to taking care of. So, place and time will be main obstacles
to mentor mentee program.
1.3 Objective
The main objective of this project is to implement a system that easier
student to keep in touch with their lecturer. In order to achieve the above
mentioned aim, the objectives of this project are as follows:-
1. To study how to student make contact with their mentor without
meet face to face.
2. To design a mobile application that easier student to contact their
mentor.
3
3. To develop and implement system based on real time technology to
make mentor mentee program easier.

1.5 Limitation of Work
The system will only manage mentor mentee program between
students and lecturers. Student also can pick lecturer based on their demands.
Internet connection will become crucial. The system will not include student’s
academic schedules.

Table 1.1 shows Gantt charts for the project proposed. Gantt charts
were used as planning and scheduling to make the project.

1.7 Expected Result
At the end of this project, I expected a well organize application that
really helpful to increase productivity of mentor mentee program. As we
know, place and time are big problem to mentor mentee program. In fact, the
system will remove the obstacles mentioned above. Plus, this system should be
easier for student to keep in touch with their mentor.

CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This chapter show us the literature review for the system that will be develop.
The main purpose of this review is to show us about how student connected with their
mentor using real time technologies. In this chapter, I provide the study of technique
and approach was analysed to find out the best implementation technique that can be
used in mentor mentee application. Furthermore, it can be a guideline to develop a
new system so the new system can provide better functional than existing system.
Finally, this review can be a guideline to develop the application.

2.2 Technique use
2.2.1 Real time technologies
The real time technology refers to technology that permits a user to receive
data amid the real time that a physical procedure happens, known as real time. Real
time is measured in milliseconds or microseconds (Aaron Gray, 2016). While RTT is
utilized for advanced entertainment purposes, for example, gushing live video or
sound and has applications that at last will make Internet utilize all the more vivacious
and functional, this quick reaction technology is being utilized for a wide cluster of
basic applications that require moment reaction times.
2.2.2 Laravel
Laravel is a free, open-source PHP web framework, created by Taylor Otwell
and intended for the development of web applications following the model–view–
controller (MVC) architectural pattern and based on Symfony. Some of the features of
Laravel are a modular packaging system with a dedicated dependency manager,
different ways for accessing relational databases, utilities that aid in application
deployment and maintenance, and its orientation toward syntactic sugar. (Surguy,
2014)

2.2.3 Hybrid
Hybrid applications are web applications (or web pages) in the native browser,
such as UIWebView in iOS and WebView in Android (not Safari or Chrome). Hybrid
apps are developed using HTML, CSS and Javascript, and then wrapped in a native
application using platforms like Cordova. This allows you to use any web-native
framework you want, and there are plenty of these. (Zhu, 2016)

2.4 Conclusion
This chapter discuss literatures reviews that have been collected and reviewed
along the studies. It also help developer discover problem at early phase. As a
conclusion, real time technologies (RTT) is important to our daily life. RTT simplify
our life. Every output can get faster. So, why not we implement this magnify
technology is this project.

CHAPTER 3
METHODOLOGY
3.1 Introduction
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) are used to design and develop any
system. SDLC is a process followed for a software project, within a software
organization. There are 6 types of SDLC. In this project, I would like to use
prototyping model.
3.2 Prototyping model
The Prototyping Model is one of the most popularly used in Software
Development Life Cycle Models (SDLC models).This model used when the
customers do not know the exact project requirements beforehand. In this
model, a prototype of the end product is first developed, tested and refined as
per customer feedback repeatedly till a final acceptable prototype is achieved
which forms the basis for developing the final product.

3.2.1 Planning phase
The first phase is planning. In this phase, brainstorming and critical thinking
are required. We should able to see the flow of this project at this phase. After decided
the title and project to be work, discussion continue on the whole review of the
application, goal of the application and expected outcome
3.2.2 Initial Analysis
After planning, we should discover problem and requirement that will
encounter. So, we can do better preparation before start the project. . All source that
found was analysis and observe the advantage and disadvantage.

3.2.3 Prototyping Building
Prototyping consist of 3 phase which are analysis, design and implementation.
3.2.3.1 Analysis and Design Phase
In this phase, the design of the system is created and the development
of the prototype based on the functionalities that will be built such as add
mentor, add appointment and delete mentor. The data obtained are transformed
into a design or diagram such as context diagram (CD), data flow diagram
(DFD) and entity relationship diagram (ERD). All the diagram are used as a
guideline for the flow of the system.
3.2.3.2 Implementation Phase
The project takes shape during the implementation phase. This phase
involves the construction of the actual project result. It is important to maintain
the momentum. After collect data require, we can start implement the data into
our project. At last, mentor mentee application development should be started.
3.2.4 Dummy prototype
Then we supposedly get our initial prototype. Depend on our supervisor
guidance, we can fix problems that occur. It is easier because we already have almost
done project as guideline. So, if there are problem or error encounter, we should go
back to prototyping model phase. This loop can not be end unless there no problem.

3.2.5 Deployment Phase
Once the application have been tested and evaluated, the full functional
application will be release to the end user. User will use it to make sure either the
application are correctly functioning or not.
3.3 System Design
System design explain more about the system implementation. The design of a
system is a model plan for the system includes Context Diagram (CD), Data Flow
Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD).
3.3.1 Context Diagram
A system context diagram (SCD) in engineering is a diagram that defines the
boundary between the system. Figure 3.1 shows the Context Diagram for this system.

CHAPTER 4
4.1 Introduction
This chapter describes the implementation of Mentor Mentee Real Time
System and its output of what the system should be. It consist of two users which are
Students and Lecturers. Student can find and book their own mentor. The system will
also help student to contact with their own mentor based on real time technologies.

first before using this system. Student must enter some detail to register as user.

4.5 Test Case
A test case is a set of condition under which tester will determine whether a
software system and its features is working as it supposed to do. The process of test
case can help to find out any problems on the system requirement. In test case consist
of component which describe an input, action or event and an expected response. All
of these are used to determine either the system is working properly as expected.
4.5.1 Type of Testing
4.5.1.1 Black Box Testing
Also called Behavioral Testing is one of software testing method. Which the
internal structure/design/implementation of the item being tested is not known to the
tester. These tests can be functional or non-functional, though usually functional. We
can conclude that this type of testing is just based on the software requirement by just
focusing in input and output without bothering the knowledge about software
programming.
4.5.1.2 White Box Testing
White Box Testing is another software testing method in which the internal
structure/designs of the item being tested is known to the tester. Focusing on security,
design, usability flow of input and output through the system. This testing also
involves testing a series of predefine input against the desired output so when a
specific input does not come out as the expected output, you have encountered a bug.

4.6 Summary
This chapter explain how the flow of Mentor Mentee system. From register, select
mentor, add booking, chat until logout. In order to use the system, registered user must
login while new user must register first.

CONCLUSIONS
5.1 Introduction
This section concluded the documentation of this project covering all aspect of
planning, designing, implementation and testing. Moreover, the content on this
chapter are summary for the whole of the project, project contribution, project
limitation and some suggestion for the future.
5.2 Project Contribution
Mentor Mentee System was develop based on objective to help student to
develop and implement system based on real time technology to make mentor mentee
program easier. The user of this system are obviously student and lecturer. The
student can select their mentor based on their own interest in this system and manage
their booking request.
While on the other hand, lecturer can view their own mentee and chat with
them. Furthermore, both user can update their own profile. Admin also can update
both user profile.

5.3 Future Works
One of the key features to be improve in this system is that students can filter
their mentor searching. When students pick their preferences, students also can filter
their search based on their familiarity or based on course they have been taken. The
system should can give them suggestion about who mentor should they take based on
their personal data and interest. In addition, the system should show availability of the
mentor in the future. Another features to be improved is the student can give rating to
the mentor after been tutoring. On the other hand, student in the future can view the
rating and make their choice properly. This rating also can be put on mentor’s profile.
5.4 Overall conclusion
As a conclusion, this Mentor Mentee Online System aimed to help the students
keep in touch with their mentor. The students can select their own mentor based own
their interest, update their profile and also chat with their mentor. The main user for
this system is university students and university lecturers meanwhile the admin is
monitoring the system and manage databases. The methodology used while
developing the system is prototype model. Other than that, Data Flow Diagram (DFD)
and Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) also included in this report to explain more
about the functionalities of this system.
In addition, based on the previous study and discussion with supervisor, the
suitable approach that will be implemented in this project is real time technology.
Hopefully, this system will give advantage and ease the students to be tutoring by
their own mentor.
