Excellent reliability and powerful operation General InformationThe cutting-edge design of the series RCAWTM air-cooled screw chiller accomplishes high performance and reliability for industrial and commercial market. LG air-cooled screw compressors are precisely machined from solid compound metal bar using profound cutting process. Tolerance is maintained within a few microns just like one-tenth hair thickness. Robust components with highly skilled assembling process help the compressor last for a long time. LG condenser production technology is already well-known to worldwide air conditioning manufacturing industries because of its leading technologies.
2. World class compact design (Compact model RCAW****B**)The RCAW model air-cooled screw chiller is a compact model of LG chillers and small compared to those of other major chiller manufacturers averages 30% in external dimensional footprint. This model is also very light because of its compactness. This model is suitable for the place where there is restriction in space and for replacement of old chillers. All physical sizes were reduced without any sacrifice. This compactness could be achieved by simplifying compression chamber, modifying coil configuration, developing new oil separator, and optimizing oil piping configuration. 'RCAW' was designed to be a prime chiller and was born to lead air-cooled chiller market. It is LG technology.
3. Low noise and low vibrationThe unit was designed with a compact structure and robust assembly. The condenser fan is completed with high-efficiency wing style axial fan and direct driven motor for low sound level. The unit configures compressor sound insulation box (option), which makes LG chillers silent and stable.

7. Factory testingUnit performance testing All LG air-cooled screw chillers are given a complete functional test at the factory. LG computer-based testing programs completely check the components including sensors, wiring, electronics and microprocessor control functions. LG promotes factory performance tests for air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers to show that we stand behind the products which are designed and build up. The benefits of a performance test include verification of performance, prevention of operational problems, and assurance of a smooth start-up. Each compressor is run and tested to verify capacity and efficiency. The result of this testing, chiller arrives at the job site fully tested and ready for operation. The LG test facility is able to simulate real circumstance assuring operation in differing climates.

5. ControlsUnit controls of the LGE air cooled screw chiller shall include following benefits and features.
General Information
1. Sequence of controlsWhen the product starts to run, the condenser fan and the water pump run simultaneously. In the same time, the magnetic valve 1 is turned on for the minimum low capacity operation. While the contactor position of condenser fans is checked, water flow is also checked a few seconds later after water pump run. In case of having no problem with water flow, startup delay will be activated. Approximately after one minute delay outlet temperature of chilled water is checked whether the water temperature is reached up enough to operate the compressor. When the PLC decides to operate the compressor, compressor starts with wye start and then delta start after a few seconds. During the starting process of compressor, while the compressor contactor is checking for problem, the solenoid valve for oil is opened in order to achieve proper oil circulation. After starting process, normal control starts. The normal control include capacity control, refrigerant mid pressure control for motor cooling, condenser fan control and alarm control. When the chiller is decided to turn off, compressor load of the compressor is changed to minimum load position by changing magnetic valve 1 and turning off magnetic valve 2 and magnetic valve 3. After the delay for shutdown, the compressor is stopped. When the compressor is stopped, the water pump will still run for a period in order to protect the compressor from frequent restart and withdraw latent heat from evaporator of chiller.
2. Adaptive chiller control and higher level protection.The latest chiller control technologies provide enhanced operations of the chiller. The chiller control system is based on recent PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technology. Because the PLC is designed to be compatible with several electromagnetic interference and also compatible with severe ambient conditions, the unit has reliable controllability in any conditions. The adaptive chiller control is designed to operate the unit to withstand sever conditions and maintain its operation. Good examples are condenser fan controls by cycling according to the temperature of condenser refrigerant and the limitation of compressor capacity in the case of high chilled water temperature. Along with the adaptive control, the control also provides higher level protection through multiple protective devices. For example triple protective devices are used for the detection of abnormal oil circulation. The control system continues to monitor the hazardous conditions of the unit, and shutdown the unit to protect the unit safely when any condition meets safety limit.
3. Rich human machine interfaceThe HMI (Human Machine Interface) side of the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI assembly is shown on the door side as shown in the below picture. The HMI is composed of wide full dot LCD with 4 line display and back light, 9 functional keys, and 15 indicating LEDs for rich user interface. Through the LCD interface, the operator can monitor the status of chiller operation and control in detail. And the control configurations also can be performed through the LCD interface. For the monitoring and the configuration, 7 menu items are prepared in the LCD display from main menu to parameter setting as shown in the below picture. In the below picture, amendable menu contents for the configuration are depicted with shaded color.

4. Superior power supply monitoringSuperior power supply monitoring function of the control system is enabled by protective function against high voltage, low voltage, power loss, phase reverse, and phase imbalance. The superior function of safe power supply to the unit is provided as standard.
5. Standard wye-delta start type and optional soft start typeThe wye-delta start provides reduced starting current by 1/3. The LGE chiller is equipped with the wye-delta start of the compressor. Optionally, soft start type shall be provided for soft start of the compressor by linear voltage increase.
6. Standard MODBUS connectivity and optional BACnet and LonWorks connectivity.The control system of the LGE chiller provides measure to be integrated in modern BMS system seamlessly. Because the control system provides MODBUS connectivity by standard, no additional cost for the BMS integration is needed for the system integration based on the MODBUS. Specially, BACnet or LonWorks can be applied to the system on the request of customer by option.
