Modern metallurgical coke production requires leanand proper logistics starting from the oversee coalmines to the coke oven battery. Since the volumesproduced in modern coke making facilities cannotbe supplied by a single source only for several rea-sons, proper blending of different coal types fromvarious sources is required. The most efficient solu-tion is to blend the coal on site of the coking plantby using stacker/reclaimer mixed-beds. In the nextstep the coal is screened for alien elements andoversize and is mixed with fines, petcoke and oil toguarantee a uniform density of the bulk materialbefore sending it to the bins in the charging tower.Sampling and testing of the raw coal charge isincluded to an modern preparation plant as well asaccommodated dust and noise emission control.Fully automated operation and control of the con-veyors, screens, bins, feeders and other equipmentis state of the art in this business area.

By using HuDe supplied coal stampcharging technology the range of coal types to beprocessed in a conventional battery can beopened up remarkably from 25 % to 31 %, whichopens the door for coal sourcing.
