2016 CASH CALENDARNobles & Ladies,The 2016 CASH CALENDARS have been on sale since August. This year we are hoping to sell all 1200 of them. In order to do that we will need your help. Everyone knows someone who would buy a 2016 CASH CALENDAR all you have to do is ask them.

Don’t forget the 15% commission your unit or club will get for each calendar you sell. If your club sells 100 calendars or more you will get an additional $100 plus your

commission.Good luck and Sell, Sell, Sell.

Greetings Nobles,It does not seem possible that this is the last message I will be sending you as the Potentate of Elf Khurafeh Shrine. What an honor it has been.2015 has suddenly slipped by for Lady Dee and I way too fast. We would like to thank all for supporting us this year and wel-coming us into to your units, clubs, and into your homes. We have met many new friends, made them our dear friends. We have had the opportunity to travel and visit the Potentates and

Divan from other Shrine Centers as well as Imperial officers and tried our best to ce-ment relationships and further the cause of our philanthropy. Not only have we met Shrine members from throughout the U.S. and Canada, but also from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Philippines and Germany, also from our newly chartered Shrine Center, Bra-zil. What a wonderful year you have provided for Lady Dee and I.I thank you for your outstanding support in the 2015 projects and activities we spon-sored. There is not enough space left in this message to list all the Nobles, units, and clubs which have given their time and finances to make them a success, nor enough space to list all the accolades needed to describe our heartfelt thanks. We will just say THANK YOU ALL for your assistance in your very important part in any success we may have had.Nobles, many projects were completed for the betterment of our Shrine Center but many are still on the trestle board waiting for completion. As I promise you I will not be an unseen Past Potentate, I will work to see these projects completed.Nobles, Chief Rabban Dave Kartcher has an excellent Divan for you to work with in 2016. Please give them your assistance and support.Again, thank you so much for allowing me the honor of serving you as Potentate for 2015. As we prepare to say we will see you later rather than good-bye, Lady Dee and I would like to wish you and your family a veryMERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Yours in the Faith, Chuck Frisby, Potentate, and First Lady Dee

Dear Fellow Nobles All: As this article is being written and set to print, our Easter Party and Circus Appreciation Dinner have already been held. I would like to thank the Committee Chairs Cindy "Childs" Polom, Ron Stanley & Brian Sabin for their outstanding leadership and direction for these success-ful events. I also want to thank all the Nobles, Ladies, and Children who unselfishly gave countless hours of time and support.

Going forward we have a lot of great events planned for the upcoming months. Be sure to make your reservations for the Potentate’s Ball being held May 21, 2016 and come enjoy the elegant cruise atmosphere and dance to the performance of “The Groove Party Band”. We have rooms blocked thru the Comfort Inn of Birch Run (989) 624-7777 under Elf Khurafeh Shriner’s, dead-line for room reservations is 05/13/16 don’t miss out on the fun. Dress Code is Cruise Elegant, tuxedos are not required. Also, look for upcoming information on the BBQ Competition & Mud Bog at Circus Park which will surely draw a great crowd and festivities. Nobles, it is not to early to start looking for candidates for our June cer-emonial which will be held in Midland at the Holiday Inn. A tentative schedule will be printed in the Arabian Knights and sent to the clubs and units. We need to reach out to our prospective Legacy members and Masonic Brothers to join the Shrine. Not only for the purpose of helping Children at Shriner’s Hospitals, but to increase our membership and grow our Philanthropy. In closing, I wish all the Ladies a Happy Mothers Day. Prayer’s to our sick and shut-ins, may you have a swift and speedy recovery.

God Bless our Children and Shriners

Spring greetings to all Nobles and Ladies, many con-cerns about dues cards have come to the office and I would like to explain the new dues program that Imperial has started. Dues Cards: 2016 is the first year that our Imperial Shrine Headquarters, in Tampa, FL. has taken on the task of developing and mailing the dues cards for the entire Shrine Membership. In the past, the dues cards were provided to the various Temple Offices and the Recorder and staff were

responsible for printing and distributing the cards. This is no longer the case. The new 2016 cards are plastic and similar to a credit card. It is our un-derstanding that in the years to come, after paying your dues you will receive a yearly sticker to place on your issued plastic dues card. The project has been a much larger task than many thought and there have been a few difficulties in printing and distribution of the 2016 cards. These difficulties have caused a delay for many Nobles in getting their dues card. A large number of nobles should have received their dues card by now. The earlier you paid your dues cards, the earlier you would receive your new card. The Recorders are being told that Tampa is processing two batches of cards per month for the first few months of the year and then drop to just one batch per month. Please bear with us in this process. The Recorder understands and shares your concerns on being able to obtain your dues cards in a timely fash-ion. Some of the cards were reprinted due to missing information and this may have caused some additional delay. Your Recorder has full access to your records, so we do know if you have paid or not and we are also now able to see where your card may be in the process. Imperial Headquarters has provided information in our software program to allow us to know if they have sent your card to printers and what date it was done. We can also see the date it was sent to the mailing house to be processed. Nobles, if you are aware of a Noble who may be having a hard time paying his dues, please call your Recorder, who may be able to offer some help from the Sunshine Fund.

Fraternally, Clarence W. Meyer, Jr., P.P., Recorder

Dues-R-DueDear Noble, Just a note to remind you that our Dues are due. I know how busy Life can get, and sometimes we forget to get to some things. I want to let you know how important you are to our Fraternity, without you we cannot exist!

You can Call Betty @ 810-547-9044, and do it over the Phone, or go to http://www.ekshrine.com/, and pay them on line, or just mail them in!

Fenton Shrine ClubThe next regular meeting of the Fenton Shrine Club will be held on April 14th at the Fenton V.F.W. Dinner tickets are $10 with a donation bar. We open at 5:30

and serve dinner at 6:30. Ladies are always welcome. Call Bill Richardson at 810-694-8121 for reservations if possible.

Future meetings will be our Past Presidents’ Night on May 12th. And we close out the Spring with our June meeting on the 9th. Gene Reid will have details of our Onion Sale in May at the April meeting and we all look forward to our

Temple Paper Sale in June. Mark your calendar and join us this Spring!

As usual the Club will be dark in July and August. Richard Dennis, Secretary

Disposition of Outhouse #1 Clan #55Cuzzins of Outhouse #1, it is with heavy heart that I must inform you that the status of our Outhouse is very questionable. Therefore, a meeting will be held on April 23rd at 1pm at Pulaski Hall to determine the future of our outhouse.

As we have not had a business meeting, fund raiser, or initiation of new mem-bers in several years, it appears we have three options:

#1. Have Nobles interested in bringing life back into our glorious degree by serving as officers and be active in organizing events step forward.#2. Place our charter in reserve.#3. Return charter to main clan and transfer memberships to main clan or Outhouse #2.I hate to see us fold but we have not met any of the criteria set by the Interna-

tional Hillbilly Clan in many years.

Chuck Frisby P.P., Keeper of the Quill, Outhouse #1 Clan #55

Legion of Honor Greetings Nobles, to all former members of the Legion of Honor and those who wish to join this elite group of Nobles, there will be a special meeting scheduled for April 14th at 6pm at Pulaski Hall. This meeting will be held to reestablish the Legion of Honor and review previous bylaws and group construction. The Legion of Honor is an international Shrine unit composed of those who have served in the military branches of the U.S.A., or any country considered an ally of the U.S.A., and received an honorable discharge. There are no dates of service, only that you served. Although composed of veterans, membership is also open to those who have support-ed our service personnel. Those Nobles may join as honorary members. This will be a working unit/club serving our Shrine Center with ceremonial obligations at events, provide support to any veteran or Shriner in need. Again, the purpose of this meeting is to review bylaws and establish duties, place of meetings, and establish officers. If any prior member of the LOH who has information on this group, please bring the information with you as this would help reestablishing this honorable group. If you have any questions concerning the Legion of Honor prior to the scheduled meeting, please contact me or Noble Greg Cartwright. We are looking forward to having you on board to assist us in revitalizing this outstanding unit/club.

Yours in the Faith,Chuck Frisby P.P., Elf Khurafeh Shrine

FEBRUARY 2016 CASH CALENDAR WINNERS

JANUARY 2016 CASH CALENDAR WINNERS

The Cash Calendar Express Again this year the Cash Calendar Express fund raiser was a success. We sold almost 1000 calendars, I wish I could say 1200, but we made some money for our Shrine Center. More importantly 29 clubs/units got on board and made some money also. Many clubs or units don’t do fund raisers anymore and this is a way for them to build up their bank account. The calendars are easy to sell and the purchaser gets a chance to win money as well as the fact everyone needs a calendar even if they don’t win. We had one club and one unit take advantage of the new incentive that was offered by our 2016 Potentate. It was offered at the business meeting in September, so if you didn’t know about it you should have been there. Which brings me to another subject. Not so many years ago the officers of the clubs and units would go to the temple business meetings and report back to their members what is going on at the Shrine Center. Anyhow, Ill. Sir Dave Karcher offered an extra $1.00 per calendar sold for any club/unit that sold over 100 cash calendars. The Arab Patrol, of course, topped the charts with 123 calendars sold and the Fenton Shrine Club responded with a whopping 117 sold, up 47 calendars from last year. Great job guys!

Dear Fellow Nobles, Somewhere along the way, it’s likely that we were all encouraged to take pride in ourselves and/or in our work. And, somewhere along the way, we may have picked up that pointing to our own accomplishments would be self-centered or boasting, and those are generally not considered positive things. And so we learn to be proud of ourselves and our work less publicly, and more personally and quietly. But being self-centered is not the same as being proud of what we have done – and what we can do tomorrow. Think about this in terms of being Shriners. Our fraternity has been a premier organization that has provided opportunities for life-long friendships and a chance to be part of something very special for more than 140 years. And we’ve offered hope and healing to children and families facing extremely difficult, complex medical situations for more than 90 years – always regardless of their ability to pay; we’ve funded ground-breaking research that has influenced and changed medical protocols worldwide; we’ve offered outstanding medical education to generations of physicians. We support a multi-million dollar health care system with locations in three countries that more than 1.2 million children and families have depend-ed on over time, and thousands depend on annually. How can we not be proud of what we’ve done for the world around us, and for our communities? How can we not be proud when our patients routinely overcome challenges and achieve more than they ever believed possible? How can we not be proud when we see our patients have the confidence and self-esteem to pursue their dreams? I have always been proud to be a Shriner, but as I travel and see more and more of the work we do, my pride in Shriners Hospitals for Children and Shriners International continues to grow. Over time, and especially over the last several months as Imperial Potentate, as I’ve traveled extensively throughout our “world” of hospitals and temples, the pride that I have in being a Shriner and in being part of Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children has increased considerably. Everywhere I go, I meet dedicated nobles, committed staff members and determined patients. At the temples, the clubs, the hospitals and headquarters, everyone is actively partici-pating in an amazing mission that changes lives and makes a real difference in this world. I am proud to be part of our two amazing organizations, and I am proud of every single person who does their part to fulfill our missions every day. And you should be, too. What we need is to be proud – and take that pride, that sense of accomplishment, that knowledge that our efforts make a difference – and use it. We need to be proud to share that story of watching a patient tie their shoes independently for the first time, of seeing the first glimmer of hope in a patient’s eyes, of encouraging a brother, or even of just knowing you’re never alone – you’re part of a worldwide family. Together, we have changed the world. And together, speaking as one unified force and voice – with the strength of hundreds of thousands – we can make Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children organizations that everyone, everywhere knows. Again, I am proud to be a Shriner – and I am proud of you.

Yours in the faith,

Jerry G. GanttImperial Potentate
