Did you know you can give back while shopping at your local grocery stores?
All you need to do is take a few simple steps as outlined below and then every time you shop, Norton will receive money back!
For Market Street - When you are checking out at Market Street and use your Rewards Card, tell the cashier that you want to support Norton Elementary and give them our school’s code – 10327. This will link your Rewards account to Norton. Please note, you do have to be a Rewards Card member.
For Tom Thumb - Please fill out the enclosed Randalls Good Neighborhood Program sheet that was sent home in your Wednesday folder and return it to your neighborhood Tom Thumb courtesy booth.
For Kroger - Register online at www.krogercommunityrewards.com (You must have a Kroger Plus card in order to register.) When prompted, add the Norton Elementary NPO #91132. You can also look up our organization by searching for Frances E Norton Elementary PTA. Then use your Kroger Plus card when shopping so that Norton Elementary receives credit. Please note, even if you took these steps last year, you will need to redo it for the new school year.

ALMOST TO OUR GOAL! Thank you to the 168 families that have already donated to the Back to Basics fundraiser! We are still shy of our goal. If you haven't donated yet, please consider doing so! Any dollar amount will help! http://allenisd.org/page/ 30151
WHY DONATE? This money is what funds all the amazing extra things that the PTA does for Norton. PTA support our teachers and staff by providing funding for teacher education and grants for classroom tools, science, art, music and the library. Including all the great things like our school carnivals, scholarships, worlds cultures day, just to name a few.
Please donate today so that we can make our fundraising goal to support all these great causes at Norton! http://allenisd.org/page/30151

The annual Norton Science Fair will be Thursday, December 1, 2016. The Science Fair handbook will be on the Norton website as soon as the district sends it to us. Projects may be experiments or engineering projects following the district guidelines. Students may work alone or in groups of up to 3 students from the same grade level. Entry forms will go home the beginning of November for students planning to enter a project.
From the Attendance Clerk: On the day a student is absent; the parent/guardian should call the school and report the absence before 9:00 AM. Upon returning to school, the parent must provide a signed note with a brief description for the absence and the date(s) of the absence. Faxed notes or attachments to an email may be accepted if they contain all required information including the parent/guardian signature. Please remember to cc our Attendance Clerk, [email protected]. After 3 school days the abscense will be considered unexcused if a note has not been received by the school office. A doctor’s note is required if your child is absent in excess of 5 school days. Please refer to the 2016-2017 Allen ISD Student Handbook for more information regarding attendance.
Thank you!

Red Ribbon Week is a national event honoring Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a DEA agent who was killed in the line of duty in 1985 by drug traffickers. Soon after, Camarena Clubs were organized where hundreds of students pledged to lead a drug free life. In 1988, Congress proclaimed the first U.S. Red Ribbon Campaign. We now celebrate national Red Ribbon Week in October. Norton students show their commitment to lead a drug/alcohol/tobacco free healthy lifestyle by participating in Red Ribbon Week. Please use these daily activities to discuss your attitudes and opinions about substance abuse. National PTA and the American Academy of Pediatrics agree on this: “Kids who learn from their parents about the dangers of underage drinking, drugs and other harmful substances are less likely to use those substances.” Encourage your child to show their commitment to lead a healthy lifestyle by participating in the Red Ribbon Week daily activities.
MONDAY: “Sticking with Drug-Free Friends!” – Sport a strip of duct tape on your shirtsleeve to show the world that you stick with drug-free friends! TUESDAY: “Twins win Without Drugs!” – Pick a partner and dress up as twins who win without drugs! WEDNESDAY: “May the Force be with you to be Drug-free!” – Wear your favorite Star Wars t-shirt
THURSDAY: “Team Drug-Free” – Wear a sports jersey or t-shirt to sport your drug-free lifestyle
FRIDAY: “Red from Head to Toe!” – Wear red in support of Red Ribbon Week and to show that you support being drug-free!
