Term 2, Week 4 Monday 20th May 2019
Dear Parents and Kingstown Community,
The Kingstown students had a great day
last Friday at the Small Schools Athletic
Carn i va l . They showed great
sportsmanship and organisational skills and
always make us very proud.
Congratulations to all the participants!
Thank you to Mim McInnis, from Rocky
River, for organising the day and also all
the staff and parent helpers, across
schools, who contributed on the day. A
Small Schools Ball Games and Presentation
Day have been planned for Friday, 7th
June, at Rocky River.
Professional Learning
We aspire to maintain a high level of
professionalism and align professional
learning to enable us to consistently
improve our lesson delivery and student
outcomes. Over the next few weeks
Amberley and I will be attending
Professional Learning around Learning
Progressions, The Early Years and the
Quality Teaching Framework. The last two
workshops will be held over two days.
My Community Project
Submission
We love our Kingstown
Community and wanted
to c on t r ibu te to
revitalising our small village, creating a hub
and new local facility for the community
and school. With this in mind, Kingstown
School and P&C have submitted an
application through the My Community
Project Website, to replace and upgrade
the two tennis courts, which would include
one multi-purpose court, replace the court

fence and enhance access on the
western side of the community hall with a
cement slab.
Eligible projects had to align with one or
more of the six program categories. We
submitted our application under Revitalising communities - Fostering stronger
community bonds, encouraging social
engagement and participation in public
programs and Healthy communities -
Supporting the community’s physical and
mental wellbeing, by enabling healthy
and active lifestyles. V
Voting for your (that’s our project!!)
favourite project commences July 15th. We
need all the votes we can get from the
Northern Tablelands Electorate in order to
be successful. We do have a shot at this,
so please show your support! We will
publish the link with details when it
becomes available.
Year 5-6 Excursion
Kingstown and Rocky River School are
presently planning a three night excursion
to Coffs Harbour in Term Four. There are so
many things to see and do in the local
coastal area, it is hard to choose! The Year
5/6 class have worked exceptionally hard
over the years and when asked if we
would be interested I said, Yes! Please let
me know if your child would note be
attending this excursion, as this will impact
on whether we commit or not.
Our normal two year away excursion cycle
will go ahead next year, to either Lennox
Head or the Great Aussie Bush Camp,
although we will have to combine with
another school, due to small numbers.

Rodeo Day - 12th June (Note change of date)
Students are keen to organise a fun
morning to raise funds for Hayley
Wisemantel. It starts with a hobby horse –
Start preparing – Students will need them
for the barrel races! There are some great
easy ideas on google.
Across the school
We are trying to remember to post more
regularly on See Saw for parent viewing.
Over the past weeks classes have been
working hard publishing narrative and
persuasive texts on a variety of topics.
Proofreading and editing work have been
a primary focus. Improvements have been
evident across classes, with students
enjoying the sharing of work.
For the Year 5/6 class, times table facts up
to ten should be instantaneous. If not, get
practising!
Sporting Schools Grant
Over the next weeks we have organised
Thursday rugby sessions through Gary
Walsh and the Sporting Schools Funding.
Now the weather has cooled down,
students should enjoy this outdoor sporting
activity.
Parent Feedback
Please contact me with any concerns or if
you might like to just have a chat. I am off
class Monday afternoon and most Fridays.
As always we welcome Parent Feedback
– Positive as well as negative!
School Play
This year’s School Play will be Charlie and
the Chocolate Factory. We are presently
organising scripts and hope to start script
reading over the next couple of weeks.
Rotary Art Show
Congratulations to all the students who
entered the Annual Uralla Rotary Art Show
held in March. Angus Swales received a
First Prize for his artwork and Amy White
received a Second Prize.
