been chair of the Committee on Studio

Instruction of the American String Teachers

Association. Also trained as a psychothera-

pist, he holds an MSW from the University

of Michigan and has done post-degree

Jodie Compeau (Dragon Drumming)

Jodie Compeau has been involved in Music

Enrichment and Education in the Kingston

provided Ministry of Education curriculum

support for teachers in their classrooms using

recorders, tinwhistles, glockenspiels, boom-

whackers, voice, percussion instruments and

most recently, garbage cans and paint pails

(dragon drumming). Being a former Suzuki

Method student, she went on to study piano

up to the university level and now teaches

piano privately. She runs a summer camp for

the arts called CREATION STATION based

in the east end of Kingston and will be on

faculty at the Kingston Suzuki Summer

Music Fest for her third year this year.

Spring Celebration (continued)

Anyone can perform, but you have to let your teacher know

by the Monday (noon) prior to the concert (name, title of

the piece and age). This makes it easier for the organizers

to , well, be organized!

Please abide by concert etiquette at the concerts. Ask your

teacher if you have questions!

Each family is asked to bring drinks or food which can be left

on the table outside the Wilson room to be shared.

The concerts are held at the Kingston Public Library, Central Branch (Johnston Street) in the Wilson Room.

Colorado, New Zealand, and Massachusetts before coming to Kingston,

where she lives with her husband, two children, and her cat Snap.

Kingston Symphony Brass Quintet

The Kingston Symphony Brass Quintet, a cham-

ber brass ensemble, is committed to reaching audi-

ences both through a yearly concert season and by

providing educational activities in the form of workshops

and concerts in schools. The group’s repertoire covers a

wide variety of styles, periods, and genres from classical to pop, and Ba-

roque to jazz. During the past 3 years, the KS Brass has done presenta-

tions in local elementary and secondary schools. The presentations in-

volve playing for and working with children at particular division levels.

The KS Brass has recently performed in St. George’s Cathedral with

Edward Norman (Director of Music and Organist at St. George’s), at

the Limestone District School Board’s ‘Music Day’ and in the Music-in-

the-Park summer series in Kingston

It has been a goal to build a website for about the past year and we

finally did it! Although the website went ‘live’ in February, there are

still some additions that need to be made...namely pictures of the

teachers! (We’re going to take some, don’t worry!)

Check it out at www.kingstonsuzukimusic.ca. You will find informa-

tion about our teachers, contact information and past newsletters.

We also have our registration forms online to make things a little

easier.

If you have any suggestions about what should go up on the web-

site, please contact Carol Tomalty at [email protected].

We have a website!
