Begin by finding out what they know about the seasons: How many seasons there are? What are the names of the seasons? What are some of the characteristics?

Discuss what month each season falls in, what events occur during that month and how the temperature changes during each season. Ask them about that type of activities they might do during each season.

On your daily calendar show the students when the season changes

Number of School Days

Use the next page to count days by focusing on one's, ten's and hundreds. You might also want to set up a number line in the classroom. Use sentence strip paper (or any long paper). Choose a good space on the wall to begin a number line. There should be room to go to at least 100. Write the number 0 on the paper. On the first day of school write the number 1. Each day after that the children will write the next number on the strip. You might want to alternate the color of strips to make a pattern and highlight groups of ten.

Daily Schedule RoutineThe children will order classroom activities and special classes.

You might have to add your own symbols to represent what your school offers. The children will place the correct activity card on the board. If

you have a special activity for the day you might want to place that card on the board. Later in the year you might want to add clocks to the

board.

The next few pages focus on recording temperature of the day and weather observations. Review and use the one that fits

your routine. You might want to switch the routines throughout the year so that the children see that there are

different ways to record the same data.
