MOTHERS DAY STALL We had some very happy mums on Mother’s Day. A huge thank you to Lyn Buckland, Bronwyn Edler, Deeana Tracy and the year 5 parents for organising and running this year’s Mother's Day Stall. 420 beautiful gifts were individually wrapped and decorated by the parents. It was a wonderful effort and we would like to thank all involved, including the teachers.

PRESIDENTrsquoS LETTERHi and welcome to the fourth edition of our PampC Newsletter for 2016

MOTHERS DAY STALLWe had some very happy mums on Motherrsquos Day A huge thank you to Lyn Buckland Bronwyn Edler Deeana Tracy and the year 5 parents for organising and running this yearrsquos Mothers Day Stall

420 beautiful gifts were individually wrapped and decorated by the parents It was a wonderful effort and we would like to thank all involved including the teachers

PRESIDENTrsquoS LETTERMAINTENANCE DAYMaintenance Day is just around the corner and will be held on the school grounds this Sunday 29th of May from 12noon to 230pm Please mark this date in your diary as we would like to see as many parents as possible to this very social and fun school event

Afternoon tea will be provided followed by professional sports entertainment for the children Please email your attendance to kpsmaintenancedaygmailcom Thank you to Martin Shek and his team of Kindy parents for coordinating this community event Please bring gardening equipment gloves and hats Thank you to everyone who has contributed money towards this it is going directly towards this day

SKIP-A-THON Our Skip-A-Thon is taking place on Thursday 16th June and the organisation of this event is well on its way Monica Hood Georgina Garrity and our Year 4 parents have been working hard on this With the money raised through this event our goal is to update the electronic whiteboards in the classrooms Please support us by sponsoring the children and assisting them with practising their skipping Thank you once again to all involved

5 CENT FUNDRAISER During May the PampC held a 5-CENT FUNDRAISER CHALLENGE Children collected 5-cent pieces and the collection jars were full Once the coins are counted we will announce the class that has raised the most money This class will be awarded a prize for their fabulous efforts A huge thank you to our PampC Vice President Ashley King for coordinating this new fundraiser for the school

COMMUNITY BOOTH Thank you to all parents who attended our first Parent Consultation Booth last Wednesday on the school grounds The capital works planned for the future of our school will impact on your childs learning and this was the first opportunity to meet the project managers

Eight new classrooms are planned for the Killara Public School site in order to accommodate our rapid student growth As part of the project management major stakeholders will be consulted before the draft plans are drawn up As parents of Killara Public School you are advocates for your children and major stakeholders in any developments at this school We would greatly encourage all parents to come to future information sessions (dates to be advised)

PRESIDENTrsquoS LETTERFUNDRAISINGThis year the PampC will be fundraising to upgrade interactive solutions in the classroom At the moment most classrooms have interactive whiteboards however as they age out these systems need replacing with interactive projectors At the moment 54H classroom have an interactive projector system and 6A will be receiving this set-up very soon The funding for each projector includes the required products installation and also the decommissioning and e-wasting of existing systems Our most successful and next major fundraiser will be the Skip-A-Thon in June

ICE BLOCKS amp SCHOOL CANTEENIce blocks are no longer available on Friday in Term 2 and 3 but the school canteen is open for business as usual Lunch orders can be placed up until 10am Sunday via the School24 website The Killara Public Schools ID number is 2593963 for new subscribers to School24 If you havenrsquot ordered from the canteen before this is the number you need to use

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTSThe PampC has been working towards obtaining a concrete footpath at the front of the school in Ridgeland Avenue During the holidays the local council has completed construction of the footpath and removal of the Scribbly Gum Tree from the front of the school

Thank you to Dimity McCredie Micky Milne and Vanessa Mayhew for their efforts in obtaining a safe passageway for our students and parents Great team effort ladies

Fruitingles is a not-for-profit Fruit N Vege co-op that has been going for over 10 years $30 is all it costs each family every two weeks I feed my family of two kids and two adults for two weeks off the fresh produce with a few top ups from the shops

You cant beat the freshness or the value for money Each family has one person go to the Flemington markets only once a term accompanied by another person from a different family

You are free to choose what will make up the basket focusing on value for money and produce in season

The market is a fun place to visit Full of activity teaming with culture We are families living in the vicinity of KPS We are looking for more members and welcome enquiries

Itrsquos amazing what a little conversation can do to boost your confidence when learning English Just ask the ladies that have joined in on the English conversation group in the past We meet on Tuesdays at 230pm before school pick up Most days if the weather is fine we meet just under the trees near the hall If itrsquos too cold or raining we will meet in the little room by school office Topics we discuss vary every week but we almost always talk about yummy food Therersquos a lot to laugh and talk about so please join in Let us know via email if yoursquore interested Wersquod like at least 3 people to join in to make the group discussion a success Please contact Nina Kovach ninabyroniinetnetau

THE SUSHI TRAINThe Sushi Train is pleased to announce a new addition to our sushi menu and we are now open for orders

BBQ Beef sushi roll is now available along with our old favourites The BBQ beef roll contains beef carrot and cucumber sushi rice wrapped in nori

Please ensure you update your childrsquos class BEFORE you order your sushi The cut off time for ordering is Wednesday 1000 am for that week or you may choose to order a few weeks in advance

As always we are looking for more volunteers to help us deliver the sushi to our children It requires 15hrs of your time

TREASURER The PampC is looking to fill the role of Treasurer Ideally the person would be an accountant or have some accounting booking experience Duties include

bull Prepare a Yearly Budget

bull Prepare monthly cash based Profit amp Loss amp Balance Sheet accounts in Excel

bull Prepare a monthly report for the PampC meeting

bull Approve invoice payments as they come in (approx 5 to 10 a week) for the Accounts Payable volunteer

bull Assistoversee the Accounts Receivable volunteers

bull Reconcile the payments receipts for functions

bull Manage the 4 Westpac Bank Accounts (all done online)

bull Liai se with other volunteers to understand all cash movements in the bank accounts

bull Organise a volunteer to audit the accounts annually

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR PampC fundraising is a very important part of ensuring our childrens needs are met in the future Our Fundraising Manager Sandeep Rao is looking for coordinators to help with a structured approach to fundraising Duties include

bull Building a structured approach to fund raising at KPS

bull Designing and running fund raising campaigns

bull Liaising and following up with interested external parties

bull Coordinating events - Managing volunteers and sourcing materials for the events as required

Having fun whilst making a real difference to a wonderful school and its amazing kids

Note - You will work with a team and are not expected to carry out all the aforementioned tasks by yourself As such we welcome multiple nominations

PRESIDENTrsquoS LETTERFUNDRAISINGThis year the PampC will be fundraising to upgrade interactive solutions in the classroom At the moment most classrooms have interactive whiteboards however as they age out these systems need replacing with interactive projectors At the moment 54H classroom have an interactive projector system and 6A will be receiving this set-up very soon The funding for each projector includes the required products installation and also the decommissioning and e-wasting of existing systems Our most successful and next major fundraiser will be the Skip-A-Thon in June

ICE BLOCKS amp SCHOOL CANTEENIce blocks are no longer available on Friday in Term 2 and 3 but the school canteen is open for business as usual Lunch orders can be placed up until 10am Sunday via the School24 website The Killara Public Schools ID number is 2593963 for new subscribers to School24 If you havenrsquot ordered from the canteen before this is the number you need to use

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTSThe PampC has been working towards obtaining a concrete footpath at the front of the school in Ridgeland Avenue During the holidays the local council has completed construction of the footpath and removal of the Scribbly Gum Tree from the front of the school

Thank you to Dimity McCredie Micky Milne and Vanessa Mayhew for their efforts in obtaining a safe passageway for our students and parents Great team effort ladies

bull Reconcile the payments receipts for functions

bull Manage the 4 Westpac Bank Accounts (all done online)

bull Liai se with other volunteers to understand all cash movements in the bank accounts

TREASURER The PampC is looking to fill the role of Treasurer Ideally the person would be an accountant or have some accounting booking experience Duties include

bull Prepare a Yearly Budget

bull Prepare monthly cash based Profit amp Loss amp Balance Sheet accounts in Excel

bull Prepare a monthly report for the PampC meeting

bull Approve invoice payments as they come in (approx 5 to 10 a week) for the Accounts Payable volunteer

bull Assistoversee the Accounts Receivable volunteers

bull Reconcile the payments receipts for functions

bull Manage the 4 Westpac Bank Accounts (all done online)

bull Liai se with other volunteers to understand all cash movements in the bank accounts

bull Organise a volunteer to audit the accounts annually

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR PampC fundraising is a very important part of ensuring our childrens needs are met in the future Our Fundraising Manager Sandeep Rao is looking for coordinators to help with a structured approach to fundraising Duties include

bull Building a structured approach to fund raising at KPS

bull Designing and running fund raising campaigns

bull Liaising and following up with interested external parties

bull Coordinating events - Managing volunteers and sourcing materials for the events as required

Having fun whilst making a real difference to a wonderful school and its amazing kids

Note - You will work with a team and are not expected to carry out all the aforementioned tasks by yourself As such we welcome multiple nominations
