Teach Children’s Sunday School!
Please prayerfully consider sharing one hour Sunday morning as CUMC nurtures children on their faith journey. To discuss teaching opportunities or preview the fun, easy to use curriculum, please contact Diane.
The following opportunities are available:
9:30 2- and 3 year old class: 1 or 2 assistant teachers
9:30 Kindergarten class: 1 lead and 2 assistant teachers
9:30 1st & 2nd Grade class: 1 shepherd for child with special needs
9:30 3rd Grade class: 1 lead and 1 assistant teacher
9:30 5th Grade class: 1 lead and 1 assistant teacher
9:30 6th Grade class: 1 assistant teacher
11:00 2-and 3-year old class: 1 lead and 1 assistant teachers
11:00 4-and 5- year old class: 2 lead and 2 assistant teachers
11:00 K – 2nd Grade class: 1 lead and 1 assistant teacher
Children ages 3 to 5 (who are fully potty trained) are invited to participate in the Bible Buddies Fellowship Group on Monday afternoons 4:30-5:30 PM in room 116, beginning September 19. Children will hear a Bible story, create a craft, listen to
music and have a small snack. Parents are asked to serve as helpers on a rotating basis. Registration is available in the classroom. If you have any questions, please contact Diane Beatley.
OPEN HOUSE: Families with preschool children are invited to come check out the Bible Buddies group at an open house Monday, September 12, from 4:30—5:30 PM in room 116. No need to RSVP, just stop by if you’re interested.
Children’s Fellowship Groups
The sessions for Junior United Methodist People (JUMP) fellowship group for Kindergarten through 6th Graders will begin in October. Please save the dates and make plans to join together in fellowship, mission and dinner on Sunday evenings from 4:30 - 6:30 PM: October 2, October 16, October 30, November 13, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 12, and March 26.
There are opportunities for youth and adults to serve as JUMP leaders or to set up for the dinners. If you are available to serve or if you have any questions, please contact Diane Beatley or call the church office.

Stop Hunger Now
&
Wine to Water
On Sunday, September 25, ALL are invited to join in the ROC, where CUMC will come together to provide meals for the hungry around the world, including supporting school feeding programs and orphanages. Teams will work together to fill and seal bags with a mix of dehydrated vegetables, soy protein, rice, vitamins and minerals. The first packaging shift will be from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM. The second will run from 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM. Please arrive a few minutes ahead of time so the shifts can begin on time. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Bill Wright at [email protected].
Wine to Water is committed to serving in community to provide water to those in need. Nearly 100 million people lack access to clean water and another 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation. This includes people right here in the U.S. Wine to Water is an organization devoted to fighting this crisis. This year, CUMC is joining the cause by assembling water filters during our Stop Hunger Now meal packaging event on Sunday, September 25. For more information, please visit www.winetowater.org. *Please help by making a donation! Checks can be made out to Centreville United Methodist Church with Stop Hunger Now or Wine to Water noted. Please place your donation into the offering plate on Sunday or drop it off at the Church office throughout the week.
As your family goes back-to-school shopping, please consider picking up some extra items to donate to kids in need through Operation Christmas Child. Age groups are 2-4, 5-9 or 10–14 years old. JUMP dates and suggested donations:
Oct 2 — School and Craft Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
Oct 16 — Non-liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrush-es, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc. (no tooth-paste, please) and Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
Oct 30 — Toys and Games: Soccer ball with pump, stuffed animal, puppets, trucks, dolls, musical instruments, playing cards or card games.
Nov 13 — Packing Party! Meet in the Fellowship Hall to pack shoeboxes with the collected donations. Monetary donations of $7 per box are requested to cover the shipping and handling costs. Our goal is to pack and ship 200 boxes!
