On Son View Mountain, we want to teach you the most amazing (and true!) story ever told.

God is the author of this story, and you’re included in it!

This fall, we’re starting over at the beginning of the Gospel Project and the Bible in the book of Genesis (which means beginning).Together, we’ll discover how every story in the Bible is important

and how they all work together to point to Jesus.

“Keep this

Book of the Law

always

on your lips;

meditate on it

day and night,

so that you

may be careful

to do everything

written in it.” Joshua 1:8

Bible HistoryThe people of Israel had been held as captives in Babylon for a long time. They were fi -

nally released and sent home to settle in their own land – the land that God gave to their

ancestors a long time ago. Nehemiah was the man who became their leader and helped

restore their city of Jerusalem, and Ezra was a prophet who worked with him. When the

people returned home, they discovered the old books of God’s Word. Read selections from

Nehemiah 8 below to fi nd out what they did when they heard God’s story for them!

“They told Ezra the teacher of the Law to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.2 So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand. 3 He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. Theme: to build lasting faith foundations one disciple at a time to make a global impact.

Setting: Wednesdays at South Church, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Main Characters: Clubbers: Cubbies (ages 3 & 4), Sparks (K-2nd grade) and T&T (grades 3-5)

Plot: The evening includes a large group time for Bible lesson, a small group time for working

through a handbook, reciting verses, and a game time

Plot twist: This year, we will be asking families to check in clubbers electronically. If you have

pre-registered, simply go to a kiosk on Sept. 12 and someone will help you. The system generates a claim ticket

which you will need to pick up your child(ren) at the end of club. We encourage everyone to pre-register so that we

can get you in the system. Those who wait until the first night will have a longer check-in process.

Conflict: Leaders are needed to serve and clubbers are needed to register

Resolution: Interested leaders can:

1) go to the table in the Gathering or near the library for more information

2) call Kathy Risch 322-2000, ext. 122 or go to www.southlife.org/volunteer

Parents of Clubbers can:

1) register now at www.southlife.org/awana

2) come in to the church office during the week. Note: Beginning August 26, there will be a table upstairs

available for parents at 10:45 and 12:15 to register kids as well as buy or pick-up supplies.

The

Awana Story

At VBS, we learned about some important characters who played a big role in God’s story:

The thief on the cross, Josiah, Mordecai, Habbakuk and the servant girl.

We also met some REAL characters:

At B.I.G., we learned about the ending to God’s story in the book of Revelation.

“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new! ... Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5
