Kids Activity Guide – 04/12 Parent Preparation: Scripture: Mark 16:6 John 20:1-18 Sunday School Tip – Read those scriptures ahead of time and make sure ta you have a good grasp of how they relate to the bible point. You should see some correlation between God’s admonition to the Israelites and Esthers feelings about saving her people. Main Verse: 'And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. ' - Mark 16:6 Main Point: Jesus died and rose again for YOU! In preparation for talking with your children, ask yourself the question: Do I believe that Jesus died for me and his resurrection makes it possible for m to hae a relationship? Make a list of why you believe this. Pray: Ask God to help you be patient with your children. Ask him to help you listen to them, Ask for the Holy Spirit to bless your time together and empower you to help them understand that faith conquers fear. Worship: Worship is an important component of helping people understand that faith gives us the strength to act. By worshiping God we acknowledge his power over us and elevate him from being “a thing,” to someone that is worthy of our praise, attention, and faith. Worship reminds us that even in uncertainty, God is capable of making a difference in our world. Sunday School Tip: The more into worship you are, the more encouraging you are, the more likely your kids will get into it and participate. You can use any Worship music or hymns you would like too, below I have included some links to music videos that are relevant and that we use in Sunday school. Say This: Today we are going to be talking a little about how our faith in God allows us to conquer fear. We’re going to start by signing some songs about who God is and why we put our faith in him.

The Story of Resurrection Sunday: Say This: Now that you have sung a little bit about God, let’s take a look at the story of Jesus Ressurection, a crazy event he predicted, but few believed would actually happen. The authors of the bible thought this story was so important, they told it FOUR different times! Read This: John 20:1-18 Sunday School Tip: It is important that your kids learn that they can turn to Gods word to learn more about him and the story of Jesus. Use whatever type of bible your family is most comfortable with and feel free to choose a different Easter story from one of the four gospels: Matthew ( Ch.28 ), Mark (Ch. 16), Luke (Ch.24 ), or the one listed from John. Personally, I reall like how brief and to the point the story in Mark is.

Ask: Why do you think people were afraid when they found the empty tomb? If Jesus told them this would happen, didn’t they believe him?

Watch This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoWPglN04h8 This YouTube video is a veggie tales movie that is all about Easter. It is a fun, entertaining, and hopefully lighter version of this important story. Ask: What eventually helped people believe Jesus had really risen from the dead?

Enounters with somehow who knew the truth strenghthened their faith.

Activity Stations of the Cross Coloring Sheet

Todays activity is a stations of the cross coloring sheet. It has 14 pictures that depecit the passion story. You can color them and use them to help learn the big picture of Holy week. Empty Tomb Illustration For this you will need some premade biscuit dough, marshmellows, cinnamon and sugar mix, melted or spray butter. You will flatten out the biscuit dough, place the marshellow in the middle, completely cover it with biscuit dough, roll it in the cinnamon and bake it for the prescribed time. You will then have a sweet treat and a hollow biscuit, just like there was an empty tomb on easter morning. _____________________________________________________________________________________

Prayer Pray Pastor Richards pastoral prayer together. Our Father, we thank you for this special day of memory of our Redeemer’s entry in Jerusalem. We thank you that He can not as a conqueror but as a Messiah to save. He appealed to human hearts with the glory of divine love. Grant to us, gracious Lord, that now and ever He may triumph as king of our hearts. This day let us lay ourselves and all that we are before Him in humble adoration and obedience. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Amen.
