Lee County 4‐H recently received a generous donation from Cargill Feed and Nutrition of Giddings. Shown receiving the check is County Agent
Tonya Poncik from Sherri Schimank of Cargill. Club Officers from throughout Lee County and employees of Cargill participated in the presentation.
A tremendous “THANK YOU” goes out to Cargill for the funds, which will be used toward the 4‐H Robotics Program in Lee County.
Each year 4‐H members must enroll
using the 4‐H CONNECT on‐line system.
This program responds best if you will
use the latest version of Firefox Mozilla.
A link to the free Firefox download can be
find on the 4‐H CONNECT main page.
h ps://texas.4honline.com
Another important p is not to use
your cell phone to enroll. Many families
have experienced incomplete enrollment
when using their cell phone. An incom‐
plete enrollment will cause delays which
could affect the cost of enrollment fees.
D F
enrollment opens Monday, August 15
cost is $20/member and $5/volunteer
enrollment a er Nov. 1 is $25/member
4‐H CONNECT is a secured database
that is in compliance with the PCI Security
Standards Council. Enrollment can be
paid on‐line with either a debit or credit
card. The Texas 4‐H Founda on does not
accept personal checks.
The Texas 4‐H Youth Development Pro‐
gram and the 4HOnline company work
closely to monitor and ensure the highest
level of protec on for informa on stored
on the system. Texas 4‐H, nor 4HOnline,
does not share or sell any personal infor‐
ma on to third party vendors without
your knowledge or permission.
4‐H CONNECT is a partnership between
the 4‐H Family and the County Extension
office. Each 4‐H Family is encouraged to
become familiar with 4‐H CONNECT, as
there could be several mes throughout
the year that you’ll need to resource the
program; i.e., enrollment, contest/event
registra ons, animal valida ons (horse &
dog).
You are not an ac ve Texas 4‐H mem‐
ber un l you have an ac ve status listed
on your profile in 4‐H CONNECT. Mem‐
bers cannot register for a contest/event
un l the member profile is ac ve.
The County Extension office will
ac vate your membership un l your en‐
rollment is paid. For families not wan ng
to pay fees online, they will need to mail
a check to the Extension office before
membership can be approved.
A V who might
transport 4‐H members (other than your
own household members) to mee ngs,
contests, events, etc., are required to be
screened through the Texas 4‐H Youth
Protec on Standards every three years.
The annual fee paid for Adult Volunteer
enrollment covers the cost of this screen‐
ing.
C M fees are paid by the
Lee County Parents Volunteer Associa on
(PVA).
IMPORTANT !! IMPORTANT !!!
A youth that is 8 years old, and going
into the 3rd grade, should wait un l Sep‐
tember 1 to enroll so that their 4‐H age
will calculate properly. The 4‐H age of a
member is calculated as of August 31
each year.
Enrollments before September 1,
would cause age calcula on to be in the
previous year, not the current year. A
3rd Grader enrolling before September 1
would be classified as a Clover Kid, re‐
stric ng their ability to compete in con‐
tests/events.
R F
If you are a returning family, DO NOT
create a new family profile on 4‐H CON‐
NECT. Contact the Extension office for
assistance in logging into your account
should you experience any difficul es.
Mul ple profiles interrupt how your 4‐H
member’s history is tabulated.
Be certain to check the accuracy in
school names and grades during re‐
enrollment. Correct any changes to
email, physical mailing address and
phone number.

This year’s Drill was “Gladiators”,
complete with full gladiator a re for
both horse and rider. The drill pa ern,
designed by Drill Coach Shann Turner,
fascinated spectators with several line
drives and charges to accommodate the
music and reenact movie scenes. It also
included the popular pinwheel performed
in perfect side‐by‐side precision, a
spectacular full arena sweep of all 10
horses in flowing costumes, and the
exci ng liberty gate exit drawing cheers
and applause from the crowd.
The team is coached by Shann Turner
assisted by Wayne Marecle and April
Vecera, all having years of experience
working with horses and youth. The
team prac ces from September to July
with rodeo performances throughout,
and 4‐H compe ons in June and July.
They ride in local parades, hold a playday
series and team up with Diamond Cross
Rodeo Company for the annual Lexington
rodeo.
