Pedagogic Concept KiBiZ Kitas

KiBiZ day-care centres pedagogic concept is based on the most current scientific studies in early learning. It was developed with the management team along with employees and the Board. It clarifies our philosophy and goals as well as forming the binding set of guidelines for all our KiBiZ day-care centres.

The following short version of the concept gives an overview of the pedagogic concept’s main elements. The full version is available on our website: www.kibiz-zug.ch

The Child in the Centre

The KiBiZ day-care centres are managed according to a pedagogic concept, in which the children are at the centre and is built on the following three pillars:

Educating: encouragement of the individual learning and developmental processes.

Caring: attending to and positively supporting children.

Upbringing: making children sensitive to their place in their environment.

Pedagogic Approach

Each child is recognised as an individual with its own personality and its own potential. We support children in their development, self-confidence, independence and in broadening their self-reliance.

We strive for a balanced mix of children from differing backgrounds and offer them space to develop social competencies.

We provide children with the space necessary for them to feel good, ensure their safety and make trusting, reliable and loving relationships possible.

We put children’s play, their own activities at the centre of our endeavours. Children get lots of input to their own play and experimenting. We support children in their activities in the form of, “help me to do it myself.”

We work with parents as a partnership, thus helping to support the learning and development process and awareness of our way of working and the child’s well-being.

Education

We create opportunities for children to get experience in many differing educational areas, such as body and movement, language, music and creativity, mathematics and technics, nature and the environment.

Children are particularly encouraged in their motor and language development. Integration and equal opportunities are supported with day-care in Swiss-German.

Children discover their strengths and competencies; they find out their own limits and learn how to deal with these.

We bolster children in building up trusting relationships to other children and to adults. Joint excursions, playing with other children, social and educational experiences make up the children’s days.

Observing the children is the fundamental to guiding individual learning and development. These observations take place regularly and systematically. They are documented by us in order to plan tasks for the child as well as inform parents about the child’s progress.

Caring

We consciously include relationships, thoughtfulness, safety, diet, personal hygiene, movement and sleep-routines in our care.

In KiBiZ day-care centres children experience attentive care and positive interaction.

We encourage children to have a positive relationship to meal-times. This also includes a balanced diet and enjoying eating together at the table.

Children get to know their own bodies. They learn to enjoy personal hygiene and learn to pamper themselves.

The children may live up to their movement needs.

We respond to the sleeping requirements of each child individually.

Upbringing

We teach children our values and culture and also raise their awareness and understanding for the values of other cultures. We place great value on daily and yearly rituals.

Our daily structure, rules and little tasks give children a framework within which they can grow.

We place great emphasis on experiencing the out-doors, playing outside, being in contact with animals and plants and learning about the changing seasons.

We encourage community spirit though group activities and strengthen children in forming and cultivating friendships with other children.

We pay particular attention to being respectful to one another, being thoughtful, listening and accepting the wishes and limits of each other.
