From The Editor...Taking over the reins from one of the best designers I have come across was – to put it simply – an almost impossible task. However, the team and resources I have at my disposal have been key in this project being able to come together. When in Rome, do as…….? Not in the living hell!! When in Rome, eat Roman noodles. So when in my presence,

you bow down – you do not embrace what I offer, but you accept the bowl of old tuna and cow dung I feed you. I get straight to the point, no sugar coating or B.S – so if there’s something worth reporting, better be sure I will have the midget in a wheelchair with a blind 80-year old trans-gendered Jew on his lap. Enjoy the show!!

RAMming it up!By Cayden Nel

This year South Africa plays host to some of the most influential and groundbreaking music artists. From Bruce Springsteen to AFFIANCE, we surely cannot say, as South African’s, we aren’t getting our slice of the cake! Here is a list of some of the artists who will be sweeping our nation this year. RAMfest, RAMfest, RAMfest! (6-9 March, JHB & CPT) By the time this magazine goes to publication, the Real Alternative Music festival (which I will be attending) would have come and gone. Let’s have a look at the International heavyweights that have managed to grace our land this year!Killswitch Engage (USA): Having parted ways with vocalist Howard Jones in 2012 (After nine years with the band), Ex-founding vocalist, Jesse Leach, stepped up and once again became the band’s front man. Bringing their own style of metalcore, their latest album featuring Leech “Disarm the Descent” brings a whole new meaning to MOSH. Killswitch Engage, to this date, is one of the fore founders of the genre, and with many aspiring musicians striving for their status, the question is, why aren’t you at RAMfest this year?Listen to: “In Due Time”Foals (UK): Self-labelled “Stoner rockers” Foals, have quickly risen to fame with their unique psychedelic sounding vibes. Having released their debut album only in 2008 (Antidotes),

Foals have since swept the world by playing all around the globe. With such high acclaims such as; having won the 2013 Q Award for Best Live Act, and twice being nominated for the NME Award for Best Live Act (2011 and 2013, they have even released a live DVD which was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall. Front man Yannis Philippakis is known for jumping off balconies and crowd surfing extensively, bringing an intense and electrifying vibe. Now we get to experience it. Be there, because trust me, you WILL miss out otherwise. Catch them at RAMfest this year playing on the RedHeart Rum main stage.Listen to: “Inhaler” Trivium (USA): Releasing six albums, eighteen singles and having sold over one million albums worldwide is no small feat for any band, so if this doesn’t get you excited for Trivium to be sharing their sheer massive melodic-metalcore tunes with us, then I really don’t know what will! This band comes from such an explosive background that they have almost become a household name. Their latest album “Vengeance Falls” is packed with soaring and crushing riffs. With Matt Heafy’s brutal and harmonic vocals Trivium is a force to be reckoned with. They are known as one of the notable “New Wave of American Heavy Metal acts” for a reason. You can also catch them at RAMfest on the main stage. Listen to: “Strife”Camo & Krooked (Austria): This drum and bass duo are currently

shaking the globe with their bass filled electronic music. They are mostly known for having a number 1 hit single in the UK. With “All Fall Down/Breezeblock" which was Number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and Number 1 on the UK Dance Chart. Their latest album “Zeitgeist” boasts rave-worthy singles “All Night” and “Move Around”. So if you’re in for a night of strobe light effects, neon face paint, bracelets and an overall good party vibe, Camo & Krooked are your lads for the evening. Catch them at the Olmecca Tequila EDM stage at RAMfest.Listen to: “Watch It Burn Ft, Ayah Marar”Biffy Clyro (Scotland): This Alternative rock trio formed in 1995 (Having only reached mainstream success in 2007, taking over 12 years of dedication to get to that point!) has slowly risen to worldwide domination in their respective genre. They released their breakthrough album “Puzzle” which took them to Number 2 on the UK charts, as well as being awarded “Artist of the year” By Kerrang! Magazine. Biffy Clyro were ready to take the world by a storm. Since their mainstream success they have released two more albums, the latest being “Opposites”. They boast playing festivals worldwide as well as opening for name bands such as Foo Fighters, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age. It’s not really a surprise with the likes of “Biblical”, as lead vocalist Simon Niel belts

out “You gave me magical//I gave you wonderful//Let’s make this biblical// and hang from our invisible cords”. I can’t help but break out into goose bumps all over. Catch this iconic band at RAMfest on the main stage.Listen to: “Mountains”

Asking Alexandria (UK): Not many bands can say that they have (or will have, after they visit us) toured the globe in a space of six years. Asking Alexandria is a British band hailing from North Yorkshire. They have been key role players in the modern genre of

Metalcore, and since their debut album (Stand Up and Scream, 2009) have developed their musical style to become the world-class rock stars that they are today.

Their latest album “From Death to Destiny' shows a large shift from their previous albums with Danny Worsnop’s change in vocal style bringing a much more metal vibe to the band without losing their old synth-breakdown regime. In the first week “From Death to Destiny” hit Number 1 on the UK Rock and

Metal charts, and number 5 on the Top 200 heatseekers chart, selling 41082 units.

So it’s no wonder that AA are finally making their way to South Africa in May to claim the global domination that they so rightfully deserve. Catch them playing on the 2nd of May, At the Nasrec Expo centre, JHB. Listen to: “Break Down the Walls”

Cleaning the prison floorBy Mark Hubbard

During my first Kiaat social at the clubhouse, I spoke to a first year who complained about the lack of initiation after orientation week. He told me that the first years on his floor were putting together a petition to create a "prison floor" which reverts back to the old ways of waking up early, performing chores and the long banned tradition of kas pyp. I decided to investigate this further and find out some people’s opinions on the issue. As you may have heard, there have been comments about the loss of tradition in residence sweeping through the campus this year. Some seniors believe that the rule changes handed down from Tuks Res has created a lack of respect toward them from the new crop of first years. This opinion is shared by the girl’s residences as well. Many are unhappy and have spoken out without wanting to be named. Three anonymous girls from a Groenkloof residence spoke out about their dissatisfaction toward the rule changes this year. “In our first year, we had a curfew of 10:00pm well into the year, it’s not fair that they get ontheffed after a week” she said. After speaking more about their frustration, they went on to admit that some of the changes were for the better. “Rules like asking to ride the elevator and walking on the senior path are not .value adding” another girl said As a third year joining Kiaat for the first time in 2014 I have the

advantage of having a completely objective point of view in the Old VS New argument. From day one every first year has called me Oom (a sign of respect for senior students) and shook my hand. Despite my own experiences of positivity with the first years, there have been a few incidents such as the stand taken by a first year at one of our meetings. A number of seniors appeared to be showing dissent toward the HK in a house meeting and the first year in question asked the seniors "How can we respect you if you don't respect your own HK?” Although this was a minor incident, it caused a stir amongst the seniors who say that the first years of today didn't have to go through what they went through and therefore they should command more respect. To get away from the ‘us VS them’ argument, I decided to speak to Professor Ernest Van Eck (House Parent) about the reasons behind the various rule changes. "I am a liberal, I believe in complete equality amongst all humans and although we as a house are not perfectly aligned with the vision of 2025 by the university [to transform into a research based institution], we have come a long way to meeting the three fundamentals of residence. The three L's 'Listening, Living and Learning' ". Professor Van Eck then spoke of the evolution from 'Initiation week' to 'orientation week' to 'welcoming week' and he said that the attitude toward the treatment of first years as fellow

adults has roughly followed in this manner. After leaving the 'Prof 's' office, his vision for a more academic and fair residence and university left me with a more positive outlook toward my two remaining years in Kiaat. Following this, I interviewed a first year in Kiaat, Fabio Loreggian. Fabio spoke of how he enjoyed welcoming week and felt right at home. He also chipped in the argument stating that he understands that he must earn his place in a hierarchy system and that seniors and HK should be respected for their experience. However, he said, "Respect garnered from fear is not as effective as respect earned through example." Despite this, I wanted to investigate further. I spoke to an anonymous former Groenkloof girls resident who shed light on the reasons behind some of the rules. Formerly there was a rule that first years were not allowed at Hatfield square until they were ontheffed in second semester. To some this was an important rite of passage, although none before could give me a reason other than "they have to earn it". She said, "These girls are very vulnerable and impressionable and are pressured into getting smashed at the square, which is open to all kinds of people who aren't as friendly or have as good intentions as our fellow students. Before, they had the chance to get used to

their surroundings, focus on their studies and learn responsibility and time management until second semester at which time they can find the balance between studies and jolling". She believes that the removing of traditions such as these is robbing the new students of the feeling of being proud of your house and being part of a realfamily.

Next, I went to speak to a 4th year student on the steps of the Inca house. This house has a tradition of greeting a painting of their house mascot Libby when entering or leaving the residence. During our conversation, three first year students walked right by the senior without greeting her. One of them stopped and half attempted to greet the mascot when the others just told her off and said they have

no time for that. It might be too early in the year to make judgments on how the new rule changes will affect the first years and residence life in general. In some aspects it appears to have improved quality of life amongst residents as the first years get a full blooded experience from the moment classes start and thereforecan focus on their studies without

fear or disadvantage (as all students pay the same amount). On the other hand, the first years might never know what they are missing out on. I conclude that, despite the rule changes and a few select first years being in need of some ‘fine tuning’; TuksRes is moving in the right direction to create a fair and academic life for all students, perhaps at the expense of some ofthe soul of the traditions of old.

By Marvin Frans

Cape Town is where my story starts. “Who am I?” “Am I sick?” “Why am I like this?” These might be some of the questions going through your mind. Some call it ‘being confused’, I just call it “trying to find the real you”. My name is Marvin, I am a 19 year old boy from the cape flats who grew up in a normal household with a loving Christian family. How was I going to tell my parents, my family or my friends that I’m gay? How does anyone do that? In school I was never mocked for being gay. I knew many people and I think they could all see a lot in me. I always had a support system.

In an interview with a few Kiaat manne, I got the following:

“Finding myself as a 1st year in Kiaat is a bit tough. I don’t actually know what to expect. One moment guys are smiling and laughing with you and the next they don’t even look your way”.

From a gay seniors perspective: “Acceptance is something that should come from inside and not be expected from others. Accept and love yourself and leave what others think of you”.

Gay rights, YAY or NAY? well

personally its “YAY”. Gay rights are what we need and should have. Many gay people have been murdered and yet nothing has been done so far. Gay people know how and when to take a stand, there are so many support groups. You should only ask. The UP and OUT program is being held on main campus and not a lot of gay people know about it. It is basically a support organization for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people. Being gay is not a sickness and it is not contagious. Please stop hating and fearing gay people, we are normal human beings.

The movie Bobbie, is based on a true story of a gay boy that grew up in a very stricken Christian family. Later, he realizes that he is gay and goes through many fights with his family about his sexuality. Eventually he meets up with people that are just like him and decides to enjoy his life. He sees how homophobes oppress gay people. His Mom wants him to change as according to many people, being gay is a decision. Which is not true, because who chooses to be mocked every single day?

Here are some not to be missed up and coming events in Johannesburg and Pretoria:

• Peoples pride will be held on the 5th of October, in Johannesburg.

• Pretoria pride will be held on the 5th of October so don’t run away, come and support your fellow gay family.• Johannesburg pride will be taking place the 26th of October, if you couldn’t make it to the Pretoria one then please do go support the lovely people of Jozi.

Live life, trust in yourself and be true to you.

Orientation Week: Gearing up for 2014By Blessing Mseleku

Passing matric and going to university is almost everyone’s dream. However, not being familiar with university and res life makes taking this big step very daunting. Fortunately, Tuks has a programme called ‘Orientation Week’ held annually on each campus for first year students. Orientation Week is designed to be filled with fun and be educational and informative while all first year students become fully acquainted with their residences and Tuks as a whole. This year’s Orientation Week was from the 18th to the 26th of January and “weeks of tireless preparation were employed to ensure that the arrival of all first year students can be as welcoming and convenient as possible,” said Pa Brendan Bath (Huis Kiaat first year guardian and

vice-chairman). During this time all first year students staying in residence got acquainted with their fellow brothers and sisters from all four residences on the Groenkloof campus as well as their respective HK for this year.To make sure that the transition from high school to university is as smooth as possible, and to avoid getting homesick, all four residences (Kiaat, Lilium, Zinnia and Inca) kept good company with each other on campus at the dining hall for meals. This is when Master Matthew Christopher’s (Huis Kiaat vice-chairman) quote “excitement, adventure and opportunity awaits you” became even more significant. To up the level of fun on campus, socials were planned and they were fun and provided a good experience for first year students. The first social was for all the

Groenkloof campus residences and the theme was ABC (anything but clothes). The second social was for Kiaat, Asterhof and Luminous, where they enthusiastically dressed up for Christmas in January. The last social for Orientation Week was for Kiaat and Jasmyn where each person brought a polystyrene cup and a marker to write the names of their new acquaintances and subsequently dressed up in something that began with the first letter of their names. The aim of these socials was for the first year students to mingle with their fellow students and hopefully make lifelong relationships. It goes without saying that the aim was fulfilled and that signalled the beginning of the academic programme and the start of the semester.

A Smile: A Must Put On AccessoryBy Thabang Mabena

Most of us see, think of and define a smile as an energy preserving friendly verb that involves stretching of mouth muscles, revealing your super bright teeth and perfect pink gums. Though that is the case, I am very happy to have the privilege to share a broader version of this phenomenon with the hope of changing your minds on a smile using my personal encounters. A smile is linked to every portion of your life on a daily basis. I know you are wondering how.If you think about it, there is always a lecturer you don’t like that reminds you of that ‘too much make-up smearing’ teacher back in school. You thought of her as mean and unhappy. Well I can take my chances and tell you that it is because she never smiled. Take for example, people say that your father is the unkind one in the family, but does anyone have the bravery to actually ask him for anything? Isn’t he kind? Maybe he just needed a smile to make him appear more welcoming. Unfortunately, due to not smiling, he looks as heartless as a hungry lion.Above was just a sneak peek of how big a role a smile plays in an individual’s life. There is much more to a smile than just ‘smiling’. This is a process that the heart and brain partake in simultaneously. The heart spreads the love and happiness, while the brain unconsciously reminds your system of why you should do it. A

smiling person is rarely forgotten and can nestle in people’s minds and even their hearts, with a sincere enough smile. I have observed a shortage of smiley faces, which inspired me to investigate. I used a random day to test this. I sat by the Kiaat foyer and inspected every face that walked in and unfortunately, seven of every ten did not smile. From where I grew up, there was a notion that a guy should give a ‘lion expression’ to score points with the ladies. Well stop right there if you believe such things. You are scaring the poor girls away. “Why would you take a lion out of its den and home it in your heart? It is a turn-off ”. (Nonceba: a first year from Inca.)As you grow you will hopefully notice that a smile is needed, socially, personally and sometimes professionally. Personally, a smile can uplift you and boost your confidence. It can soften your partner and sometimes gain you extra credits with that special someone. A smile has a spontaneous ability to make you forget about so many unhealthy thoughts. It is very easy for some of us to address our personal difficulties with jubilant looking people. Then there is that job that just obliges one to pull up the mouth corners. Foundation phase educator, Nurse, salesperson, cashier, etc. My point is what kind of a foundation phase teacher will you be with no smile? Do you want the kids to pee their pants because they are too scared to ask for permission to go pee from a

monster? Or worse, who would buy products from a sales person with a blank expression? Speaking from personal experience, a smile is more likely to increase your amount of acquaintances. Seriously, I am a first year that everybody knows. Either you know me as that guy that is constantly happy or you do not know that I exist. I recall one of my last high school encounters. A random eighth grader asked me if I am ever sad or have problems. I was so shocked because I don’t know why someone would ask such a question. “I wear a new smile on a daily basis and it helps me forget of all issues that bug my system and end up stimulating weight loss agents in my body, Simple as that”. I replied. This trick works. Try it.There are so many people that I remember fondly because of the ever-lasting impression they made just by smiling. Here are a few of many things a smile can do for you.1.Give you food for thought! On my way to school in a taxi I met a woman that gave me words to carry with me for my entire life. I was the only one apart from the taxi driver that gave her the light of day. This was because of the simple trick that God gave to everyone, a smile. She told me that I must hold on and never lose hope. Now you are probably thinking these are simple words. The catch lies in the person who uttered the words. A simple stranger speaking as though they can see right through

you. I wonder why I cannot forget this. Let us just say I have scored myself some fuel for life.2.Help you find that special someone! We all know that finding ‘THE ONE’ can be harder than rocket science. So if you are nervous then use a smile as your own means of special communication. You will be surprised how easily you can catch yourself a life partner. You would just have to invite them over with that ‘Monalisa smile’. I conducted a survey on the Groenkloof campus, where I asked a total of thirty girls what they think of a guy that possesses that ‘accessory smile’. It turns out that 22 out of 30 girls appreciate it, find it as a turn on and highly recommend it to the gents. Thereafter, I interviewed the Kiaat HK chairman Maremo Matlou. Here is his message to the ladies: “They should definitely smile. The more they smile the more we will come and approach them. Ladies you always wonder why we don’t come to you or we so shy. No. It is because you don’t smile. Please smile and make life more easier for us”.3.Change people’s moods and brighten up a dark environment! A smile is very contagious. Should you come across someone that looks happy, they just remind you of how life should be celebrated daily. So you can give people hope by smiling. 4.I don’t know if you have noticed that you can smile your way to using your father’s car. Sometimes you just smile and say “daddy can I make you a cup of coffee?” He Might not know what you want, but he definitely knows you want

something. Even though it will not always happen, your smile may affect his decision. Then, he will say facing the other way around: “only two hours”. A smile soothed your strict father’s heart. Sometimes we are scared of letting each other down that we even forget about the consequences of our decisions.

This is how a few people defined a smile.

“Something that builds an environment of love and common ground.”~Anonymous

“A great way of saying something special without the use of words.”~Maremo Matlou

“A short effortless conversation while greeting.”~My definition

Smile. Give compliments. Say thank you. Help that lady carry her groceries. Say, keep the change. Give to charity. Do more human practices. Whatever you do, just remember to do it with a smile :)

The beautiful foxy fairies of house Zinnia fell in love with the sweet serenading sounds of house Kiaat in the midst of the night. The girls flocked to the clubhouse on Thursday evening after being ‘courted’ the previous night by the Kiaat ‘manne’ through song and dance. From the highest floors of Kiaat, one could hear the screams of both male and female as they

made their presence known in the clubhouse. It was packed to capacity, with the girls dominating the dance floor, while the boys were either found near the pool tables or smoking hubbly. Both were showing off their best attire and certainly still in the party mood after the Valentine’s day social. People were definitely set on having a good time and making it a night to remember. Even when the social

had officially ended and the Kiaat boys had begun their tradition of banging the roof in song, symbolising unity, several party-goers who were not ready to call it a night were seen driving off to student central (Hatfield!) to really end off a great night!

Zinnkia EXPLOSIVE Social

By Rodney Xaba

Valentine’s Day is a day normally filled with love and romance. However, on the day of Kiaats valentine’s social, the sky was blanketed with black clouds bringing heavy wind and rain. The much anticipated social kicked off on a rather gloomy note, when the weather took a surprising turn and the rain fell mere hours before the event was scheduled to begin.

Luckily the waterworks did not hinder the event for very long. It seemed as soon as the skies had cleared, party-goers were soon seen all dressed up (hot pants and all), making their way towards the Kiaat clubhouse to welcome Valentine’s Day in true Kiaat style. The mood inside the clubhouse was intoxicating. Looking around, one could see everyone smiling, dancing and grooving. The song ‘JIKA’ by the popular group

Micasa had even the HK’s showing off their best moves on the dance floor. The air inside was hot and temperate, but this did not stop people from getting on the dance floor, as several people were seen battling it out in an intense dance competition. It was truly a night to remember!

Health and Lifestyle: Stress ManagementBy Janco Hurter

As you stand with your sweaty palm on the door, your heart starts to race, you start feeling short of breath, and your stomach starts to turn. Just before you enter the lecture hall you suddenly wake from the nightmare. To a lot of my fellow first year students, this is the reality we face The anxiety of the first day, where you are a first year student stepping into student life for the first time. On the other hand, being a third or fourth year student, you have the world’s confidence, having been through that first lecture a few times before. Stress is something we all experience, but this stress might not be as good as we think it is. As a matter of fact stress can lead to an increased risk of contracting mental and physical problems. This might include infections, illnesses, diabetes, obesity and even heart disease.

By Mark Hubbard

Mr Perkins: ahh Geoffrey my boy, how was your morning tea then?

Geoffrey: It was slightly unpleasant sir

Mr Perkins: slightly unpleasant you say? Do explain

Geoffrey: Well I was enjoying a rather good bowl of corn flakes when an enraged Vietnamese man bayoneted me in the stomach.

After stating the negative side of stress, we should probably also look at the positive side, however small. The biggest plus factor of stress is that it enables our “fight-or-flight” gene which basically states that when dropped in a stressful situation, one would either find a solution to the problem, being a violent or peaceful solution, or one would just run away from the problem as quickly as possible.I quote Marilu Henner who said: “Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life.”So to the stressful individuals out there, there is a solution to your problem called stress-management. Here are my three easy steps to manage your stress:1) Change your diet.

Mr Perkins: Good lord are u alright?

Geoffrey: I did get a few bits of intestines in my orange juice but otherwise it was a minor inconvenience

Mr Perkins: You should write a stern letter to the orange juice company, they should have warning labels for these situations.

Geoffrey: I’ll keep that in mind sir.

Mr Perkins: right then! Back to work you go, oh and Geoffrey...

Avoid too much caffeine and sugar and settle for a diet with more fibre and wheat. Also try to avoid the alcohol – even though this might be hard, it helps.2) Start exercising. If you are not exercising a few stretching exercises and a run might just do the trick. This will also improve your sleeping patterns which will mean more energy.3) Time management! This is a key aspect in reducing stress. If you manage your time correctly you can have time for studies, homework, assignments and even still be able to enjoy some time with your friends and that special lady.Try to apply these three simple changes to your lifestyle and you might just find yourself having a lot more time on your hands and a lot less stress on the mind.

Geoffrey: yes sir...

Mr Perkins: try not to bleed so much on the carpet! And bring my morning coffee!

Geoffrey: Certainly sir, yes sir!

(Mr Perkins stands and rummages through his bookshelf. Geoffrey leaves and what appears to be a midget in a kilt, enters) Midget: Good mornin’ Mister Perkins

Mr Perkins: *Gasp* be gone ye Demon!

Express Your FaithBy Khumbulani Mdhluli

Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you, because God gives generously and graciously to all. (James 1:4-5) To take advantage of God’s extraordinary power in overcoming life’s challenges, you must learn to express your faith. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world. However, faith that is not expressed will not prevail. The bible tells us that faith without

Midget: I BEG YOUR PARDON!

Mr Perkins: I implore you demon! SPEAK YOUR NAME!

Midget: Down here Mr Perkins…

Mr Perkins: Crikey! Are you here for me pot o' gold!?

Midget: IM SORRY??

(Mr Perkins steps aside to reveal an actual pot of gold)

Midget: I’m Scottish Mr Perkins…

Mr Perkins: Scottish!? U northerners all look the same!(The Midget stares at him blankly)

Mr Perkins: What is it u want anyway?

Midget: I’m with the construction company working on your neighbour’s house.

works is dead therefore this means that faith without corresponding action is of no effect. Refuse to settle for the average life, for you are blessed beyond measure. You are appointed to a life of prosperity, in righteousness. No good thing you desire is unattainable or impossible. God doesn’t withhold good things from his children; He gives liberally to all men without finding their faults.Don’t cry or complain to God about your situation, express your faith. Jesus said, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can tell a mountain to move and it will only obey. Now take this opportunity

Mr Perkins: yes of course silly me how did I not think the midget… (Interrupted)

Midget: Vertically challenged!

Mr Perkins: “VERTICALLY CHALLENGED” Scotsman to be a blady builder! You still have not told me why you are in my living room…Midget: There seems to have been a complication.

Mr Perkins: Seems to have been? Are you not sure?

Midget: I think you should step outside sir.

Mr Perkins: No thanks, last time I got in a fight with a vertically challenged Scotsman I threw my back out!

Midget: SIR! Would you please follow me to the back yard?

and move those challenges, difficulties, and hardships in your life. God has given us the power to direct our lives. That power is your tongue “you will have to live with the consequences of everything you say” (Proverbs 18:20). Now you must speak of prosperity, success, health and wisdom. In other words, you are supposed to do something with your faith and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:20). Remember that you are the seed of Abraham and therefore the beneficiary of the Abrahamic blessings.

Mr Perkins: Fine! *whispers under breath* but you stay where I can see you…

(Mr Perkins and the “Vertically challenged” builder approach the East wall of the mansion grounds when they come across a rather peculiar site) Midget: Just this way sir Mr Perkins: now what seems to be the complication? Mr Cavendish: Ahhh Mr Perkins, how nice to see you on this most beautiful morning Mr Perkins: Likewise Mr Cavendish, however why is it you appear to be hanging by your ankles?

Mr Cavendish: Ahh now you see… I assure you there is a perfectly adequate explanation...

You have dreamt of this as a young boy. Your dreams where big yet simple back then. As you grow older you realize this is it. The only thing between you and your goal is… yourself! The time has come for all the sport lovers out there. The Res Football and Rugby leagues are about to start and we are in it to win it. The teams have been working hard and we know it will certainly show on the pitch when our rugby and football teams start the league as defending champions. This year our football team will be aiming for their fourth TuksRes League

title, back-to-back. Our rugby squad will also be chasing after a third TuksRes League, back-to-back as well.Just by taking these two sports as examples, we can see that we have definitely become the house to beat on the sports field. Yet we should all remember the one thing that all our sport stars count on, and that is the support of fellow Kiaat brothers. So let’s unpack our Kiaat gear, dress up on game days and go out and support. But remember – you are a representative of your house, so don’t do anything to disrespect our house or any other house for that matter and always show your pride for your house.

(We will post the fixtures for the football and rugby as soon as they are made available to us.)Remember the house motto Tirisano - Working Together. Now let’s work together, go out to the sports field and support our champions!
