Ki Tavo 1st Aliyah (Deu 26)1 And it shall be, when you come into the land which יהוה your

Elohim, gives you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it, 2 that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the soil, which you will bring from your land, which your Elohim is giving you, and you shall put them in a יהוהbasket and go to the place which יהוה your Elohim, will choose to make his Name dwell there

3 and you shall come to the cohen who is in office at that time, and say to him, “I declare this day to יהוה your Elohim that I have come to the land which יהוה swore to our fathers to give us.” 4 Then the cohen shall take the basket from your hand and set it down before the altar of יהוה your Elohim.

Page 3: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 1st Aliyah (Deu 26)5 You shall answer and say before יהוה your Elohim: “My father

was a nomad from Aram, and he went down to Mitsrayim and sojourned there, few in number; but there he became a great, mighty and numerous nation. 6 And the Mitsrites treated us harshly and afflicted us, and imposed hard labour on us. 7 Then we cried to יהוה Elohim of our fathers, and יהוה heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression.

Page 4: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 1st Aliyah (Deu 26)8 And יהוה brought us out of Mitsrayim with a strong hand and

an outstretched arm and with great fear and with signs and wonders. 9 And he has brought us to this place and has given us this land, even a land flowing with milk and honey; 10 and now behold, I have brought the first of the produce of the land which you, יהוה, have given me.” And you shall set it down before יהוה your Elohim, and worship before יהוה your Elohim.

Ki Tavo 1st-2nd Aliyah (Deu 26)

11 And you and the Levi and the stranger who is among you shall rejoice in every good thing which יהוה your Elohim has given you and your house.

12 When you have completed tithing all the tithes of your increase in the third year, which is the year of the tithe, you shall give them to the Levi, the stranger, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your gates and be satisfied.

Page 6: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 2nd Aliyah (Deu 26)

13 Then you shall say to יהוה your Elohim: “I have removed the set-apart portion from my house and have also given it to the Levi, the stranger, the fatherless and the widow, according to all your mitzvot that you commanded me. I have not transgressed your mitzvot neither have I forgotten any of them.

Page 7: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 2nd Aliyah (Deu 26)

14 I have not eaten any of it second tithe while in my mourning, nor have I removed ought thereof for any unclean use, nor have I offered ought thereof for the dead. But I have obeyed my Elohim; and I have done according to all that you יהוהcommanded me.

Ki Tavo 2nd-3rd Aliyah (Deu 26)

15 Look down from your set-apart dwelling, from the heavens, and bless your people Isra’el and the land which you have given to us as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

16 This day, יהוה your Elohim is commanding you to do these laws and right-rulings, and you shall guard and do them with all your heart and with all your being.

Page 9: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 3rd Aliyah (Deu 26)

17 You have selected יהוה this day, to be your Elohim, and to walk in his ways and to guard his laws, his mitzvot and his right-rulings—and to obey him. 18 And יהוה has selected you this day to be his treasured people, as he spoke to you, and so that you shall guard all his mitzvot,

Page 10: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 3rd-4th Aliyah (Deu 26-27)

19 and to set you high above all the nations that he made, so that you will have praise, a distinguished name and honor; and so that you will be a set-apart people to יהוה your Elohim, as he promised.

1 Moshe and the elders of Isra’el commanded the people, saying: “Observe all of the mitzvot that I give you this day.

Page 11: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 4th Aliyah (Deu 27)2 And it shall be, on the day that you cross the Yarden to the land

your Elohim is giving you, that you shall set up for יהוהyourselves large stones, and plaster them with plaster. 3 When you cross, you shall write upon them all the words of this Torah, in order that you may come to the land יהוה your Elohim is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as .Elohim of your fathers, has spoken to you יהוה

Page 12: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 4th Aliyah (Deu 27)4 it shall be, when you cross the Yarden, that you shall set up

these stones, regarding which I command you this day on Mount ‘Eival, and you shall plaster them with plaster. 5 there, you shall build an altar יהוה your Elohim, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron toolupon them. 6 You shall build the altar יהוה your Elohim, out of complete stones and on it, you shall offer up burnt offerings to יהוה your Elohim.

Page 13: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 4th Aliyah (Deu 27)7 And you shall peace offerings, andyou shall eat there, and you

shall rejoice יהוה your Elohim. 8 You shall write upon the stones all the words of this Torah, very plainly.

9 Moshe and the cohanim, the L’vi’im, spoke to all Isra’el, saying, “Pay attention and hear, O Isra’el! This day, you have become the people of יהוה your Elohim.

Page 14: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 4th Aliyah (Deu 27)

10 You shall therefore obeyיהוה your Elohim and do his mitzvot and his laws which I command you this day.”

Page 15: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 27)11 Moshe also commanded the people on that day, saying: 12

When you cross the Yarden, these shall stand on Mount G’rizim to bless the people: Shim‘on, Levi, Y’hudah, Yissakhar, Yosef, and Binyamin. 13 For the curse, these shall stand on Mount ‘Eival: Re’uven, Gad, Asher, Z’vulun, Dan, and Naftali. 14 The L’vi’im shall then speak and say to all the men of Isra’el with a loud voice:

Page 16: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 27)15 “Cursed is the man who makes an idol or a moulded image,

an abomination to יהוה, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.” And all the people shall answer and say, “Amen!” 16 “Cursed is he who dishonors his father or mother.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 17 “Cursed is he who moves his neighbor’s boundary mark.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!”

Page 17: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 27)18 “Cursed is he who misleads the blind person on the way.” And

all the people shall say, “Amen!” 19 “Cursed is he who twists the justice due the stranger, fatherless, and widow.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 20 “Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s bed.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 21 “Cursed is he who lies with any beast.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!”

Page 18: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 27)22 “Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his

father or of his mother.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 23 “Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 24 “Cursed is he who smites his neighbour in secret.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!” 25 “Cursed is he who takes a bribe to strike down an innocent being.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!”

Page 19: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 27-28)26 “Cursed is he who does not establish all the words of this

Torah by doing them.” And all the people shall say, “Amen!”1 Now it shall be, if you diligently obey יהוה your Elohim, being

careful to do all his mitzvot which I command you today, יהוה your Elohim shall set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 All these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you obey יהוה your Elohim:

Page 20: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th Aliyah (Deu 28)3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the

field.4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your

ground and the fruit of your beasts—the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock.

5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

Page 21: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 5th-6th Aliyah (Deu 28)

6 Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

will cause your enemies who rise up against you, to be יהוה 7smitten before you. They will come out against you in one way but they will flee from you in seven ways.

Page 22: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) will send the blessing to be with you in your storehouses יהוה 8

and in all that you put your hand to, and he shall bless you in the land which יהוה your Elohim is giving you. 9 יהוה will establish you as his set-apart people, as he swore to you, if you guard the mitzvot of יהוה your Elohim and walk in his ways. 10 all the peoples of the earth see that are called by the name יהוה, and they shall fear you.

Page 23: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) shall make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your יהוה 11

body and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers to give you. 12 יהוה will open up for you his good treasure, the heavens, to send rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. And you shall lend to many nations but you will not borrow.

Page 24: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) shall make you the head and not the tail, and you shall יהוה 13

be only at the top, and you will not be at the bottom, if you obey the mitzvot of יהוה your Elohim, which I command you this day, to follow them . 14 do not turn aside from any of the words which I give you today, to the right or to the left, to follow other gods to serve them.

Page 25: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)

15 And it shall be, if you do not obey יהוה your Elohim, to guard to do all his mitzvot and laws which I am giving you today, that all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you:

Page 26: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)16 You shall be cursed in the city and you shall be cursed in the

field.17 Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.18 Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your

land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock.19 Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you

be when you go out.

Page 27: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) will send upon you curses, confusion and rebuke in every יהוה 20

one of your endeavors which you undertake, until you are destroyed and until you quickly perish, because of the evil of your doings in forsaking me. 21 יהוה will make pestilence cling to you until he has consumed you from the land, to which you are going to possess it.

Page 28: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) will strike you with consumption and with inflammation יהוה 22

and with burning, with extreme heat, a disease which causes unquenchable thirst and with the sword, with blight and with mildew, and they shall pursue you until you perish. 23 The sky which is over your head shall be bronze, and the earth under you iron. 24 יהוה will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust; from the heavens it will come down until you are destroyed.

Page 29: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You יהוה 25

will go out against them in one way but you will flee from them in seven ways, and you shall become a thing of horror to all the reigns on earth. 26 Your carcasses shall be food to all birds of the sky and to the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

Page 30: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) shall smite you with the boils of Mitsrayim and with יהוה 27

tumours and with the scab and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. 28 יהוה shall smite you with madness and with blindness and with bewilderment of heart. 29 You shall grope at noon, as a blind man gropes in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways; but you shall only be oppressed and plundered continually, with none to save you.

Page 31: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)30 You shall betroth a wife, but another man will violate her; you

shall build a house, but you will not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, but you will not use its fruit. 31 Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat of it; your donkey shall be torn away from you, and will not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you will have none to save you.

Page 32: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)32 Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another

people, while your eyes look on and fail for them continually; but there will be nothing you can do. 33 A people whom you do not know shall eat up the fruit of your land and all your labours, and you shall never be anything but oppressed and crushed continually. 34 You shall be driven mad by the sight of what you see.

Page 33: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) will afflict you on the knees and legs with evil boils, from יהוה 35

which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. 36 יהוה will bring you and your sovereign, whom you set over you, to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone.

Page 34: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)37 You shall become a thing of horror, a proverb, and an object of

discussion, among all the people where יהוה drives you. 38 You shall bring out much seed to the field but you will gather in little, for the locust will consume it. 39 You shall plant and cultivate vineyards, but you will neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worm will devour them.

Page 35: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)40 You shall have olive trees throughout your border but you will

not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives will drop off. 41 You shall have sons and daughters but they will not be yours, for they will go into captivity. 42 The cricket shall possess all your trees and the fruit of your ground. 43 The sojourner who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you will come down lower and lower.

Page 36: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)44 He shall lend to you, but you will not lend to him; he shall be

the head, and you will be the tail. 45 So all these curses shall come on you and pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you would not obey יהוה your Elohim by keeping his mitzvot and his laws which he commanded you. 46 They shall be a sign and a wonder upon you and your descendants forever.

Page 37: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)

47 Because you did not serve יהוה your Elohim with joy and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things,

Page 38: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)48 therefore, you shall serve your enemies, whom יהוה will send

against you, in hunger, thirst, in nakedness and lacking everything, and he shall put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you. 49 יהוה will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you shall not understand,

Page 39: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)50 a brazen nation, which will have no regard for the elderly, nor

show favour to the young. 51 They shall eat the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or oil, nor the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flock until they have caused you to perish.

Page 40: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)52 They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and

fenced walls in which you trust come down throughout your land. And they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which יהוה your Elohim has given you.

53 And during the siege and the distress which your enemy will inflict upon you, you shall eat the fruit of your body, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom יהוה your Elohim has given you.

Page 41: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)54 The most gentle and sensitive man among you will begrudge

his own brother and the wife he loves and the rest of his children, whom he will leave over, 55 so that he will not give even one of them any of the flesh of his children which he will eat, since he has nothing else left, during the siege and the distress by which your enemy will oppress you in all your gates.

Page 42: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)

56 The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, shall be evil toward the husband she cherishes and toward her son and daughter,

Page 43: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)57 and toward her seed which issues from between her feet and

toward her children whom she bears; for she will eat them secretly for lack of anything else, during the siege and the distress by which your enemy will oppress you in your gates. 58 If you are not careful to do all the words of this Torah which are written in this book, to fear this esteemed and awesome name, יהוה your Elohim—

Page 44: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)59 then יהוה shall bring extraordinary plagues on you and your

descendants, even great and lasting plagues, and grievous and lasting sicknesses. 60 He shall bring back on you all the diseases of Mitsrayim of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61 Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Torah scroll, יהוה will bring upon you until you are destroyed.

Page 45: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)62 Then you shall be left few in number, whereas you were as

numerous as the stars of heaven, because you did not obeyיהוה your Elohim. 63 It shall come about that as יהוה rejoiced over you to prosper you, and increase you, so יהוה will rejoice over you to make you perish and destroy you; and you shall be plucked from the land where you are entering to possess it.

Page 46: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)64 Moreover,יהוה shall scatter you among all peoples, from one

end of the earth to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone, which you or your fathers have not known. 65 Among those nations you shall find no rest, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot; but יהוה shall give you a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and sorrow of being.

Page 47: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28)66 So your life shall hang in suspense before you; and you shall

be in dread night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life. 67 In the morning you shall say, “Would that it were evening!” and at evening you shall say, “Would that it were morning!”—because of the fear of your heart which you fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you will see.

Page 48: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 6th Aliyah (Deu 28) shall bring you back to Mitsrayim in ships, by a way יהוה 68

about which I said to you, You will never see it again. And there you shall offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.

69 These are the words of the covenant which יהוה commanded Moshe to make with the sons of Isra’el in the land of Mo’av, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horev.

Page 49: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 7th Aliyah (Deu 29)1 And Moshe called all of Isra’el and said to them:You have seen all that יהוה did before your eyes in the land of

Mitsrayim, to Pharaoh, to all his servants and to all his land;2 the great trials which your very eyes beheld and those great

signs and wonders. 3 Yet until this day, יהוה has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see and ears to hear.

Page 50: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo 7th Aliyah (Deu 29)

4 I led you through the wilderness for forty years during which time your garments did not wear out from upon you, nor did your sandals wear out from upon your feet. 5 You neither ate bread, nor drank new wine or drink, in order that you know that I am יהוה your Elohim.

Page 51: Ki Tavo

Ki Tavo Maftir (Deu 29)6 And then you arrived at this place. And Sichon the sovereign of

Heshbon and ‘Og the sovereign of Bashan came out us in battle, and we smote them. 7 And we took their land and we gave it as an inheritance to the Re’uveni, the Gadi and to the half tribe of M’nashi.

8 And you shall the words of this covenant, and do them, in order that you may prosper in that you do.
