• Touchthebaby’slowerlipwiththenipple.Waituntilthebaby’smouthopenswide,andthenquicklymovethebabyontothebreast.

• Aimthebaby’slowerlipwellbelowthenipplesothatthenipplegoestothetopofthebaby’smouthandthebaby’schintouchesthebreast(thishelpstoensurethatthebaby’stongueisundertheareolasothatthebabycanpressoutthemilk).

Note: Begin breastfeeding before the baby starts crying. Crying is a late sign of hunger.
