BILL’S CORNER

CCan you believe we are almost three months into the New Year? I am pleased that we have

finally had some snow fall. I feel as thoughall the seasons and planets are now aligned,so the season begins.

As you all witness the fitness center,at along last, looking like a building, a bigbuilding, the excitement is mounting as weapproach opening day. Claudia Booker,Athletic Director, has spent the past fewmonths getting her team together andeveryone is anticipating a grand, newfacility.

You will be receiving a fitness and spainformation packet that will answer most ofyour questions. The finer details such as,classes, times, indoor swim schedule, rulesand regulations and information about the“KidFit” child care program will be at yourdisposal on opening day, which hopefully, will be soon.

We welcome a new addition to ourkitchen team, Sous Chef, Kevin Flynn. Hisresume is as impressive as his culinary and

presentation skills. Kevin has worked atGerard’s Place and Zola and RosaMexicano Restaurants. He has alreadymade his mark with our daily eveningspecials.

We said goodbye to an employee whowill be missed by all of us, Vilma Sosa. Shehas taken a position nearer her home. Weall wish her well, and I know members andstaff alike will miss seeing and interactingwith her. She was great fun to work withand was an integral part of the front deskteam for eighteen years.

Ms. Katie Moylan has joined our frontdesk staff. Her cheery and helpfuldisposition has already made her part of theKenwood team. So, please say hello whenyou pass by the front desk.

This month, we are offering our St.Patrick’s Day buffet on Friday, March 17. Ihighly recommend that you make areservation, as I know from previous yearsthat the wait time for a table could be 35-40minutes. Our entertainment for the eveningwill be provided by Richard Follet. If you

are a regular at the Maryland RenaissanceFestival, you will recognize Richard fromthere. He is a fine entertainer.

We will be having our first LobsterEvening of the year on Wednesday, March29. This is always a popular event, soplease make your reservations by Sunday,March 26.

If you have not been down to theBowling Alley recently, make a detourdown there, as it has changed dramatically. It is a great place for a party, for all ages.We have a full bar, restaurant menu, airhockey and game machines, plasma TV andobviously, bowling on our newly re-finished lanes.

Thank you for your support since wereopened on January 20. It is alwayspleasing to see so many of the membersusing the bar, restaurant and bowling alley. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I canever be of assistance to you.

So far, about 60 people have respondedto the survey. Thanks to you, we havealready made one significant change to the

As we anticipate the BIG MOVE to ourNEW facility, we leave you with this tennisthought from a fellow Kenwood tennisplayer: I think tennis is the perfect sport, provided you’ve got a Costco-size bottle ofIbuprofen in your medicine cabinet.

See you on the courts! ★
