Crowe • University Libraries • The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Abstract Librarians at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro University Libraries developed the “Student Affairs Connection” program in order to market the Libraries to students in co-curricular settings and to collaborate more closely with the Student Affairs Division. The program also provides the opportunity to seek student input on Libraries’ services and resources and communicate directly with them in a variety of ways. Goals for the program are formed at the beginning of the academic year and progress is evaluated at the end of the year. Special Events Student Affairs Connection: Marketing Libraries through Co- Curricular Activities Activities • Providing programs for student athletes • Attending Student Government meetings to provide information and gain input on needs • Participating in First-Year Experience “Check-Up” program • Participating in Residence Hall programs • Presenting to the Residence Life staff • Providing programs for Living Learning Communities • Providing workshops on plagiarism for Academic Integrity • Working with Disability Services to set up equipment in the Libraries • Presenting to the Parent and Family Council • Co-sponsoring a Sustainability Film Series • Staffing a Libraries’ table at activities fairs to provide information and giveaways • Co-sponsoring events such as Game Night with student organizations • Providing space for tutoring services Orientation Fairs Student Libraries Advisory Council (SLAC) Outcomes • Changed policy to allow food and drink • Established 24/5 service • Implemented laptop checkout • Updated and improved furnishings • Established group and quiet floors • Developed group study rooms • Includes representatives from diverse groups of students including undergraduates, graduates, adult students • Meets twice a semester with public service librarians • Advises Libraries on student needs and how to market the Libraries • Serves as a sounding board for changes in policies and procedures Librarians are assigned to specific student services and organizations such as the Writing and Speaking Centers, Greek Life, Student Government and Residence Life. Liaison activities include: • Meeting with directors or leaders • Providing programming • Communicating information about Libraries’ services and resources • Attending appropriate meetings and social events Liaisons
