The Honors College at Lone Star College offers students the advantages of a small “college within a college,” while still providing access to the extensive benefits available through Lone Star College.

Honors classes provide a unique intellectual and co-curricular experience. Honors College students may earn honors academic course credit by enrolling in honors sections, as well as by working with a faculty mentor on honors contracts.

EligibilityOpen to new or returning students with at least one of the following:

• A high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

• 1150 or higher on the SAT (combined math andReading + Writing).

• 26 or higher composite score on the ACT.

• 3.25 GPA with 9 or more college credit hours.

THE HONORS COLLEGEHonors College FellowsA limited number of incoming freshmen will be admitted as Honors College Chancellor’s Fellows. Recipients of this award will receive a scholarship package to pursue a course of study culminating in an Honors AA or AS degree.

Additional Eligibility Requirements for Honors Fellows

• High school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

• Three letters of recommendation

• Writing sample

• Personal interview

• Completed FAFSA/TAFSA

Additional Benefits for Honors FellowsFellows receive all the benefits of The Honors College at LSC, plus:

• Honors Associate Degree (AA or AS)

• Award Package to include tuition and fees(up to 15 credit hours of in-district tuition persemester)

• Book Allowance (up to $600 per semester)

• Allowance ($600 per semester)

• International travel opportunities

CurriculumThe Honors College Fellows curriculum is comprised of a two-year, full-time course of study requiring a minimum of 27 honors credit hours toward completion of an Honors AA or Honors AS. The curriculum includes a six-hour course taken during the first semester, as well as additional required honors courses.
