Assistant Coaches

Contents Next

• Assistant coaches are the lifeline of your program

• You must teach them, mold them, and help them succeed

• Offer them training via: clinics at colleges, Glazier Clinics, DVD’s and books

• Hold monthly chalk-talk sessions with your assistants

• Teach them expectations of the position and reinforce those expectations

• Help them seek and obtain promotions in the business and outside of it

• Facilitated success of assistants in moving from HS to college coaching, as a reference check for employment, as a letter of recommendation for colleges and jobs and promoted them from within to handle more duties

• Task them with important roles, ie. Hudl, college recruiting, Athletic Performance, equipment inventory and check, study hall monitoring and tutoring, and fundraising
