We Can
● This is a BRAND NEW textbook
● Has a heavy emphasis on listening activities/digital version
● Your digital textbook might not work, have back up ideas!
● Chapters can feel a bit aimless with difficult grammar
● Make a goal sentence for each chapter to make planning easier○ Try to make it something they can use often
● Do stuff outside of the book to break up the monotony
● Don’t be afraid to review older stuff!○ If they don’t use it, they lose it.

communicative.
● Make sure to gauge levels of different classes and schools.○ What works with one class may not work for another at the same level.

Speech Contest: Tips and Tricks
● Make a schedule with the students so you know when they’re coming ○ Write down their names on the scripts so you remember them!!!!!!
● Use a pronunciation sheet to help them warm up
● Record students from across the room so you can show them how loud they
need to be/what their gestures look like
● Have fun with them, make it enjoyable for them to work
● If they don’t have one already record a CD of their script so they can practice at
home
Eiken Interview Prep
● What is the Eiken?○ It’s like the English Equivalent of the JLPT, tests a person’s English Fluency
● Eiken Level 3 (英検3級) is roughly what level JHS students should graduate with○ Many students take the Eiken to improve their HS application
● Teachers may ask you to help students practice for the interview test for both the Level 3 (英検3級) and Pre 2 (英検準2級)
● There are tons of online resources you can use, your JTE might have books too○ Search in both English and Japanese, you’ll get more results
