In a prayer that I wrote half acentury ago, I shared that “God

answers prayers either with a NO,a SLOW, a GROW, or a GO.”

When God hears our prayers,He knows when the desireexpressed is not right. If it mighthurt others or ourselves, then, Hisanswer will be NO. God knowseverything—which is much morethan we know—about the futureand what’s best for us. So, Hisanswer will be a blessing even if it’s spelled “N-O.”

Then, when the timing is not right, God will answer with aSLOW. However, be assured, God’s delays are not God’s denials.When God says, “slow,” that is the same thing as saying, “wait,” aword that is used over three hundred times in the Bible. Think aboutit—if God always answered our prayers when we wanted and theway we wanted Him to, who would be working for whom, anyway?

When we are not right or ready for His answer, the answer willbe GROW. The selfish person must grow in unselfishness. Thecautious person must grow in courage. If God answered our prayerswithout waiting for us to grow, we may misuse His blessing or runaway from it entirely.

Then, when everything is right, God says GO, and miracleshappen. There’s a new mood, momentum, insight, perception,awareness. The hopeless alcoholic is set free, the drug addict findsrelease, the doubter becomes a believer,diseased tissue comes to life, and thedoor to a dream swings open. Suddenly,there is God—standing before us,smiling and saying, “Come in. We’reready for you. It’s time for your miracle!”

day as I was standing at the sink washing dishes. Lookingout the kitchen window, I prayed, “Lord, please work inmy husband Jim’s heart to sell the T-Bird (a classicautomobile that his aunt had left him in her will), and have

him give the proceeds to theRebuild Campaign.”

No sooner did those wordsflit through my mind than the

Lord whispered, “Sheila. Iwant YOU to sell YOUR

piano! Then, give theproceeds to the Rebuild

Campaign.” Tears stung my eyes as

I thought about the manytimes I had accompanied my

young sons as they sang or played cello, trumpet, ortrombone. I asked myself, “Do I love God and Hisministry or my piano more?” Then I thought of our diningroom, the baby grand piano crammed next to our smalldining table. With one son married, another engaged, andthe others bringing home girlfriends to meet the folks, weno longer have enough room to accommodate ourexpanding family. Selling the pianowould make room for morememories to be made while, at thesame time, helping save theministry. Excitement grew as Istarted to think of other thingsthat I could auction off.

As you contemplate whatyou could auction off,remember, it doesn’t have to beanything big or expensive. Everything sold on eBay willbring in something and all those “somethings” will add upto enough! Just as the boy offered the loaves and fishes,which Jesus multiplied to feed thousands, your auctionitems will be multiplied by God to bring this ministry outof debt and thriving, once again!

This past March 6 on theHour of Power, Dr.

Mark Sheehan, M.D., aboard certified cardiologistshared how he haswitnessed, first-hand, themiraculous power of prayerin healing patients thatwould have surely diedwithout God’s intervention:

“In 1988, I was called into help a patient, Kasey, 35,who was in shock. I utilizedall the science andprocedures available, butafter four hours, she was in afull coma. After I told her husband Jim that I did notthink she was going to make it, I went back into theoperating room, brushed the bloody hair off herforehead, and said to her nearly lifeless body, ‘I've done

all I can do. The rest is up to You, Lord.’ “I went home and I wept. My wife Linda

consoled me and we left on our vacation.When I returned to the hospital, I fullyexpected Kasey to have died. But,in fact, she was out of the ICU! Later,she shared her amazing story with me.

“While I was working on her, sheremembered hovering above me, watching me

trying tosave her. Then shefound herself in a differentplace, in front of a huge structure covered in 12layers of colorful stone, surrounded by huge

pearlescent gates. Soon, she was in the presence of theLord and heard a choir of voices praying for her,including the distinct voices of two of her pastors, amember of her prayer group, and a man from her

church. She also heard my prayers. The Lord told herthat He had heard the prayers of the faithful and wassending her back. At that point, a blanket of feathersdescended upon her, she heard a snapping sound, andthen woke up from the coma.

“Kasey later discovered that some of the people shehad heard praying had been miles away from the

hospital—in her church, at their homes, driving incars. Nonetheless, Kasey was able to recount

their prayers word for word—an amazingand miraculous tribute to the power ofprayer.”
