Over the past ten months our students had the opportunity to be engaged in learning in a

school that encourages Achievement, Character Building and recognizes student achieve-

ments by Celebrating Successes. Some of the major Landmark have been carried out this

year and will continue to be promoted in the next school year are:

Focusing on quality education and student learning

Building the school as a working team

Collecting $104,000 to improve IT Infrastructure

Conducting surveys for both schools

Developing a school improvement plan

Establishing a new Discipline Policy, Bus Policy, Protocol, and Parents’ Handbook

Improving the screening system for our Kindergarten students

Implementing the D.E.A.R program in the class to focus daily on reading for enjoyment

Participation in the “Gauss Math Contest” for our Grade 7 students

Implementing counseling-focused approach for behavioral issues instead of just taking

disciplinary action alone.

Developing and implementing a marketing plan

Implementing a school-wide Lockdown procedure

As the Senior Principal of the both Muslim Schools for the first year, I believe we have

achieved many goals with our team, yet many objectives are still waiting for us . Insha’Al-

lah, next year will be more productive and successful than this year.

On behalf of the BCMS and SMS teams, I would like to wish all of you a good summer holi-

day with your children and an early Ramadan Mubarak. Insha’Allah, all of you have a won-

derful Eid Ul Fitr with your friends and family. Please note that the students will be back

to school for the new school year on September 2nd, 2014. May Allah (SWT) bless our chil-

dren and families!

The BC Muslim School Milk Program has finished its eighth successful year.

The students were able to order cold, refreshing, nutritious white and chocolate milk from Island

Farms. Studies show that well-nourished students are able to concentrate longer and perform bet-

ter at school! Children who drink milk at lunch are more

likely to meet their bone building needs.

The BC Muslim School can be very proud that with our milk

program, fully meets the guidelines, for Food and Beverage

Sales for all BC schools set out by the Ministry of Educa-

tion.

Thank you to the Grade 5A and 5B students for helping to

distribute the milk to all the classrooms over the last 10

weeks.

Summer Camp: June 30—August 15, 2014

Summer Camp is a collection of enjoyable experiences where kids get inspired, enhance ex-

isting skills and have fun doing it. Every year the BCMA organizes summer camp

(MAHARAT). There are two programs:

Explorers—This is specially designed for children aged 6-10 years old. This is a fun filled

program that meets the developmental and social needs of this age group, all within a

friendly Islamic environment.

Pathfinders—A special two weeks program for children aged 11-13 years old . This is a

challenging, fast-paced program that combines outdoor, recreational activities with social

responsibilities and “real life” experiences. The program provides leadership skills, teamwork,

self-confidence and conflict resolution training. This program also includes three weekly field

trips.
