Results round upRound SixSaturday 4th June ASC split the honours with Redfield in very difficult conditions at home on the weekend.

ASC won the First XV and Under 13s clashes while Redfield took out the Under 14s and Under 16s.

The Under 15s faced even more difficult conditions as they travelled to storm-ravaged Sydney to play St Joseph’s College at Hunters Hill.

While the final score-line was heavily against the boys they put in a big effort against a very good side and got better as the match went on, lifting their effort and adapting to the conditions in the second half to score the last try.

Back in Bathurst, the Under 13s were locked in a much closer encounter with Redfield.

The match was played 12-a-side but neither this nor the wet weather prevented either side from playing an up-tempo brand with ASC coming out on top 31-21.

Injuries hit the Under 14s badly as Redfield ran away with the game to win 51-7.

All Saints’ trailed just 14-7 after twenty minutes but lost all momentum after the half time break.

The boys never stopped trying in the Under 16s but Redfield were just too good winning 62-12.

It was a real ambush by a surprisingly powerful Redfield team and a far cry from the 14-10 defeat the ASC boys handed them in the first round.

The First XV went into their match needing a win to consolidate their place in the top half of the ISA Division 2 Ladder.

They were expecting a close tussle with just three points between the teams the first time they met this season and the match didn’t disappoint with ASC playing strongly but leading just 7-0 at halftime.

ASC landed a critical blow when they were first to score after the break, the 14-nil lead adding to their growing momentum at the time.

ASC Rugby News

The boys worked hard to pressure Redfield in defence and errors cost the visitors another try to give ASC a convincing a 21-0 lead.

But Redfield wasn’t done with yet and ran in two late tries, both unconverted, to leave the final score at 21-10.

Overall it was a great effort by all both on and off the field and the coaches would particularly like to thank the Friends of Rugby and Rugby Patron John Cranfield

for their continuing dedication and ongoing support.

Is it time to confirm what you believe? Many parents choose to christen their children as babies. During the baptism service the priest reminds the congregation that “In due time these children should make their own response to God, and be prepared for confirmation.” Confirmation is the rite where the person takes responsibility for their faith and commits themselves to be disciples of Jesus. In our Diocese, confirmation is open to all persons over the age of 6. They should be sufficiently mature to understand the promises that they are making. In discussion with the Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral and the Bishop we

have decided to hold confirmations at the College every two years and confirmations at the Cathedral every other year. This year, the Cathedral will be holding the confirmation service for All Saints’.The service with Bishop Ian will be on Sunday 28 August at 9am. Preparation sessions will be weekly on Saturdays at a suitable time for the candidates beginning on 23rd July and will be at the Cathedral. They will be conducted by Mrs Tania Harvey, a Licensed Lay Minister at the Cathedral and there will always be another adult present at the sessions. I will also be dropping in from time to time. All leaders have completed safe ministry training and have current Working with Children Checks. If your chi ld is interested in confirmation, please contact Mrs Tania Harvey on 0427 424 657 or the

Cathedral Office on 6331 4711 during work hours Mon- Fri, 9-1pm.Help for students in VanuatuDuring the upcoming term break I will be travelling to Tanna Island in Vanuatu with Samaritan’s Purse to assist in the rebuilding programme after last year’s cyclone. We will be building a new kindergarten classroom for one of the island’s schools. The team has been invited to take school supplies to assist the school. In order to keep the weight down I have decided to focus on items like rulers, pens, pencils, rubbers and solar powered calculators. If you are able to donate any of these items please send them in with your child on their chapel day.

With every blessing,Rev. Tony Card.
