IN THIS ISSUE
Hello to all members and their families. Well Its A.G.M. time again. Another year almost gone. Remember that the A.G.M. is on the 14/7/2014 starting at 6.00 pm for a sausage sizzle followed by the July meeting at 7.30 pm with the A.G.M. meeting to follow. April we had our picnic day held at Soldiers Memorial Park at Mitcham. Although only 15 members attended. Glen and Laurraine organized a great day as well as many games, toss the hubcap, tug of war and quoits making the day a great success. In May we had our short weekend away to Moonta. We had 32 members and family attend. Bob and Lyn had a flat tyre and apart from that all cars travelled well. I arranged for new members Bruce and Liz Sleep to drive from Peterborough in their 1956 utility to join us. The weekend was to be a lazy one as everyone had the afternoon to do as they pleased. Saturday evening we all enjoyed a meal at the Royal Hotel and afterwards walked from the caravan park to Max and Bettys house for a bon fire, a few drinks and of course some jokes and story. Sunday we travelled to Wallaroo and then off to Kadina to tour The Farm Shed Museum for a guided tour and then travel to Dublin Hotel for lunch and to say our good byes. June we had the Presidents Run to Carrick Hill. Only 15 members attended, weather was good. We meet at the clubrooms for a short journey to Carrick Hill and had lunch followed by a stroll in the gardens. 1.30 we had a tour of the Historic House. Much was learnt regarding the owners of Carrick House who also owned John Martins who started the John Martins Christmas Pageant. Remember that your fees are due. Statutory declarations are to be signed as well log books need to be signed and stamped. Once again a reminder of the A.G.M. meeting. All positions are up for renewal. Owen and Maggie Smith

Sunday April 27th
We awoke to a lovely blue sky and sunshine. A great day for a picnic. We packed our FJ with all the necessary picnic items and headed off to the Soldiers Memorial Gardens on Old Belair Road. A perfect setting for a lovely day. We had around 8 members and their families join us. The day stared off with some fun to be had with games of Hub cup tossing, tug of war, egg and spoon race and quoits. I think Ken Symons was the champion quoit player followed closely by Don Loffler. The kids had fun with the other races and games and enjoyed a bag of goodies for their effort. With all that exercise we were all ready for a spot of lunch, some brought their own picnics and others wandered off to the local shops. The day finished around 3pm with us all packing up and making our own way home. Thanks to Glen and Laurraine for organising the venue and Pam and Deb for the activities. Debbi Gehlken

17th and 18th of May
Saturday 17th of May 24 members and 4 non-members gathered at the Caltex at Bolivar for our short relaxing weekend at Moonta Bay. Our first stop was at Port Wakefield for morning tea, but as we turned into Port Wakefield Bob and Lyn’s left hand rear tyre decided to go flat. After this was changed we had our morning tea and a rest stop. We then proceeded to travel onto Moonta Bay Caravan Park where we booked in and then the afternoon was yours to do as you please. Whilst in Moonta I had arranged to meet up with new members Bruce and Liz Sleep who had driven from Peterborough with their 1956 FJ Utility. They came back to the caravan park so as we could have a look at their utility and had trouble lifting the bonnet. After around 3 hours the bonnet and cable was adjusted so as it would open and close. Around this time we were joined by Con Markos and family. Later that night we were picked up by a mini bus and taken to the Royal Hotel for a great meal. We were then taken back to the caravan park by the mini bus. Max and Betty asked if would like to visit their house for a bon fire. (5 minute walk from caravan park.) Well after 25 minutes and being stalked (by Con in his car) we arrived and had a great time telling stories and jokes and, of course, a few ales Sunday morning we drove to Wallaroo and then off to Kadina to visit the Farm Shed Museum. This proved to be a great time and brought back time for Don and his school days. We ran out of time as we were to travel to the Dublin Hotel for lunch. After lunch we said our good byes and went our own way. I hope everybody had a great time. Owen & Maggie

Russell Franklin mentioned the Generals feel “correct procedure” has not been followed for the
Nationals and State Titles initiation.
Don explained it was done a little differently this time with the Club doing the initial look for
venues.
This was explained to the other clubs by Don Loffler previously. There was some discussion
regarding there is no “procedure” set in place.
It was agreed that it will be a joint effort with all Clubs involved, and that this is only the
preliminary stage to present something to the AEHF to try to acquire the State Titles and
Nationals.
Don was happy with the Generals enquiry and will follow up himself with the Generals and
Southern Earlys to clarify our Club’s position and assure that all will be involved.
Lyn Wilkeson mentioned that other clubs could be involved once 3 venues had been shortlisted.

Peter brought in a radiator core and tanks and showed members how a radiator can be re-
stored and the core cleaned for half the price of buying a new core. Also talked about the
baffles and cooling process.
General Business
Geoff talked about a 74 year old birthday boy for whom he used his FJ to take him to his party.
Paul Makin was there also and it will be on Today Tonight sometime this week.
Bob Wilkeson raised the issue of asking current members of committee positions if they are
prepared to continue or stand for their positions again. This will allow the Club to streamline the
AGM by nominating others who would be interested in applying for a position that is vacant and
previously hard to fill.
Members agreed it is an important issue that members can still approach and/or nominate
others on the evening of the AGM.

CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION
19
A question was raised recently regarding the “ Extension” that was on the previous
registration stickers. It was thought that this now did not exist.
If you look carefully at your registration papers there is a section called Conditions that can
be found in the bottom left hand corner.
It says HISTORIC MOTOR VEHICLE – THIS REGISTRATION IS NOT TRANSFERABLE.
Under this it has six Reg. Condition Codes.
On Code 1: you should have OL3G. This is the code for Extension.
COND 1: OL3G THIS IS ON THE REGISTRATION PAPERS UNDER CONDITIONS
The Act states:
OL3G = Historic vehicle plus extension
“A motor vehicle manufactured prior to 1 January 1979; or a vehicle manufactured between 1
January 1979 and 1 January 1983 that has been registered under historic vehicle conditional
registration at some time prior to 1 July 2012.
Its use is restricted to no more than 90 days in each period of 12 months registration, with
each journey recorded in a Log Book.
The vehicle may also be driven (at any time during that period) for a distance not exceeding
500 metres, but only for the purpose of relocating the vehicle from one part of a property to
another, or enabling another vehicle to gain access to a road or property (Registered under
the Historic Conditional Registration Scheme for Historic, Prescribed Left Hand Drive and
Street Rod Vehicles).”
If you do not have this then you need to make sure you do!
Hopefully this clears up the queries.

BIRTHDAYS AND CELEBRATIONS
Two businessmen in new shopping mall were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new shop... As yet, the shop wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some pensioner is going to walk by, put their face to the window, and ask what we're selling." No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough a curious old woman walked to the window, had a peek, and in a soft voice asked, "What are you selling here?" One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling ass-holes." Without skipping a beat, the old dear said, “Must be doing well... Only two left."
